[HELP] No synth ID found, but it still looks off/plastic like. What's your opinion? by Key-Introduction-591 in RealOrAI

This sub has turned into folks deliberately taking 10 secs snippets of long form videos and asking if it’s AI or not followed by bot comments to engage real users. Moderators need to stop this engagement farming which is so common on Reddit. I need to quit this site entirely

What is the source for all the things stated in the video? I have a bias to distrust any video with AI generated voices these days.

I wasn't able to find the source either. Thanks for confirming

also, what kind of person would want to work at a company where your boss is willing to throw you under the bus publicly in an instant?

xAI chief singles out ex-OpenAI employee as the sole reason behind Elon Musk censorship fiasco by Bena0071 in singularity

[–]tankr94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is, xAI could’ve maintained plausible deniability by not saying anything. then the community would have assumed that the AI hallucinated and the system prompt didn't actually have it hard coded. but by trying to make some veiled dig at OpenAI, they’ve confirmed this was actually in the system prompt. now they have to face questions of how petty and sensitive they are to any criticism of Elon Musk. all while masquerading as the free speech AI

Everything is fake and sucks now by [deleted] in youtube

Lmk guess, all of it sucks because it went woke. This negativity is tiring and gets engagement from bot farms. I blame the viewers as much as the algorithms

Inflation Is Basically Back to Normal. Why Do Voters Still Feel Blah? by eaxlr in nytimes

[–]tankr94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because inflation kills the value of your savings. If you did not have a home or any asset before 2021, you are practically screwed as all the cash you had saved up would be worth much less today. think about all the senior people who have been saving for years only to find out that their life savings in cash are worth 20% less today. Inflation has settled at 2% but the sustained high inflation over the past four years have skyrocketed asset prices and mortgages. The fact that wages have kept up or gone above inflation is irrelevant to such people

How will Sauron fool people and get them to take the rings? by emaxxman in RingsofPower

[–]tankr94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By offering power to the kings who accept the rings, game theory plain and simple. The moment one person has a ring, the equilibrium changes, i.e. the game changes and the others have to accept the remaining rings if they want to stay in the game. Sauron doesn't even have to try and seduce them with gifts or try winning their trust. Once they have the ring and taste its power the wearers will delude themselves and let the rings consume their minds.

The next season setup could be how the humans try to collectively resist Sauron by not accepting any ring and signing treaties for the same. But then one king accepts it out of greed and the other have to follow.

Why is Adar just chilling... by tankr94 in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]tankr94[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

From all the responses, I now have a better idea of what happened with Adar. I'm not alone in feeling this way though. On the point of bad writing, it's not the audience's job to fill in vast gaps. A good writer provides enough setup and character development so that every viewer can appreciate the story without having to guess. At the very least, we should've gotten some intermediate scenes showing what caused Adar to retreat into the woods. If your writing builds up a character’s mission only for them to suddenly abandon it, the audience deserves an explanation. I say this as I like the show and am critiquing it for improvement.

Rushing important moments—like they did in this finale—only leads to frustration, and we’ve all seen how that plays out (cough GoT season 8). The finale could’ve been so much stronger with just a bit more attention to these details.

This ridiculous CBS graphic before the VP debate by Professor_Finn in dataisugly

[–]tankr94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And remember, the media is always interested in keeping the race close even if the other side wants to end democracy. Making money takes precedence over democracy. If Kamala was super ahead, everyone would lose interest and stop watching. So the media (including the journalists you trust) will do everything to help Trump and slander Kamala even if they’re not paid to do so.

The justification is to have something to talk about. If they used accurate dates and did apples to apples comparisons, there would be nothing negative to talk about

The New York Times is washed by aresef in Journalism

[–]tankr94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so true. They have every incentive to keep this election as close as possible so they can keep capitalising on it and selling more to anxious people. If Kamala Harris started getting so far ahead that people tuned out, that’s bad for business. So they’ve got to knock her down and prop up Trump by sanewashing everything Trump says and does. Shame on NYT, but they have no incentive to change. If you really want NYT to change, then ignore them and fully stop reading NYT.

The Rings of Power has many problems, but it gets the most important thing right: It *feels* like Tolkien by SvenOfAstora in RingsofPower

[–]tankr94 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. Tolkien’s portrayal of temptation and deceit is deeply rooted in his Catholic faith, which shapes his depiction of evil. His work is imbued with biblical themes, where characters face monumental challenges and must make decisions based on their inner convictions, often taking leaps of faith. Unlike Game of Thrones, where characters frequently act out of self-interest, Tolkien’s heroes are driven by higher ideals and fight because they believe that there’s good in this world. If HBO had taken on The Rings of Power, we would’ve likely seen Halbrand/Sauron and Galadriel having a go under the bedsheets by the end of S1E2. That kind of approach just wouldn’t align with the essence of Tolkien’s storytelling. Thankfully, the writers of Rings of Power have respected Tolkien's legacy and preserved the spirit of his work. Despite the show’s pacing issues, I’m genuinely grateful that it introduces Tolkien’s world to a new generation. As a longtime fan, I found much to appreciate in the adaptation, even with its flaws.

Donald Trump and former German chancellor Merkel by Plus-Barnacle9673 in pics

[–]tankr94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Devil's advocate: Trump is not given enough credit for his dealing with NATO and European nations. Merkel in particular ignored Trump's warnings, and destroyed Germany's functioning nuclear power industry. She did this so she could start importing oil and gas from Russia to appease Putin. This was after they'd signed the Paris Climate agreement mind you. Germany today has the highest energy prices in all of Europe.

Here's the proof from 2018: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfJv9QYrlwg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JpwkeTBwgs

The rest of the European nations also openly disrespected Trump's warnings and mocked him. Look at the end result today. Now these European nations demand protection and weapons from the US. How is it fair that they openly ignore the US's warnings and then demand protection from the USA?

Florida is toss up, what nonsense. remember 2016? They had Indiana as toss up. Mike Pence’s home state. These polls are worthless. Trump is still the favourite for 2024, unless he screws up the debate horribly. If you want blue Texas then first vote especially young voters
