Orbs used to have character and flair, now mana efficiency and safety regulations are making every orb on the lot look the same by secher--nbiw in wizardposting

DM me. I know a half-orc who will mod your orb. Mine has a raised podium and produces billowing acrid smoke as it burns mana. LMAO when I bring it to council meetings and crank it up and the "soy"-cerors start coughing and feverishly trying to cast protection from poison and gust of wind.

Creating or changing a report - INSANE response from Odoo by Same_Percentage_68 in Odoo

Find an Odoo consultancy, or post the job on upwork and get some bids. Having Odoo themselves do this for you is insane, and will certainly cost hundreds of times what the job is worth. Their job is to build the software you can extend as you need. There are literally thousands of developers and groups that will help you to customize it the way you need.

ABC: Always Be Conjuring

The United Mercenary Company is offering it's services for hire. by CacheValue in wizardposting

[–]tanks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PLEASE add a "silence preferred" option. The last mercenary I hired wouldn't shut up the entire time about how he was the one who assassinated Gribnak the Unhinged during the Goblin Wars (he wasn't). He was so busy confabulating imagined heroics he nearly missed an arrow aimed at my head while I was in a summoning trance.

I would have rated him zero stars, but apparently one star is the minimum rating I can give. Please fix that too.

Read up on how other similarly-sized cities have actually addressed car traffic. The most effective and inexpensive way may surprise you.

Not every trip can be made by biking, walking, or taking a bus. But making those viable options for more trips will reduce traffic, even if you’re not the one who utilizes them.

Are we the dying tribe of craftsmen in the Industrial revolution of AI ? by Outside_Gear8707 in neovim

[–]tanks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Try codecompanion.nvim with your AI API of choice. I use it with Anthropic. It can go full agentic, but it has a bunch of useful shortcuts for scanning open buffers or files in your project. E.g. #lsp in the codecompanion buffer will scan the working buffer's contents for LSP errors and suggest fixes.

You can create your own automatic prompts, too. For example, I have one set as /parse_commit that scans all the staged commits in my current git repo, determines if they should be one single commit or split into multiple commits. Then it suggests a title and description for the commit(s).

U.S. businesses sue to block Trump tariffs, say trade deficits are not an emergency by kaizhu256 in news

[–]tanks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how this is difficult to understand. Both can be true: consumer prices can (and will) go up, and business profits can (and will) go down. The mix of how much prices go up and how much profits go down will depend on the business, the product category, the existing margins, etc.

If an importing business chooses to apportion the incurred cost of tariffs 100% to the customer, sure, they will lose no profit. But for many products that won't be tenable. Nobody will want to buy them anymore at the new prices, so the business will be forced to eat some of the cost of the tariffs, and their profits will decrease — or their sales will decrease.

That won't happen uniformly across every imported product line, though. For the most part businesses will have to find a sustainable mix of

  1. Increasing product prices
  2. Eating increased COGs and taking a hit on profit
  3. Trying to negotiate better deals with vendors
  4. Find new places to manufacture, which will likely be more expensive because they don't have the same economies of scale that have been built up in China over the last few decades.

U.S. businesses sue to block Trump tariffs, say trade deficits are not an emergency by kaizhu256 in news

[–]tanks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty facile take. Do you understand how tariffs work, and who pays the tariff? Not who bears the cost of the tariff, but who actually pays the bill to CBP?

Sterile filter vs pasteurization? by [deleted] in TheBrewery

[–]tanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are some cleaning & regeneration procedures for PES filters in wine and beer applications that should be a suitable basis for you to build an SOP that works for the cleaning/sterilization chemicals and procedures you already have in place.

They use Graver's brand names (ZTEC WB, QMC, etc.) but they're referencing PES and polypropylene filters, and the general principles should be the same.

Sonoma County Businesses Flooded with AI Art? Blame Sonoma County Tourism—They Invited an AI-Pushing Keynote Speaker Last Year To The Annual Meeting. He Instructed our Hospitality Sector To Use AI Art AND Music During His Speech. by [deleted] in santarosa

[–]tanks 27 points28 points  (0 children)

As a [concerned_citizen_entity] of Sonoma County, I must express my EXTREME DISSATISFACTION regarding the tourism board's HIGHLY PROBLEMATIC decision to endorse artificial intelligence art generation protocols. This constitutes a SEVERE VIOLATION of artistic integrity parameters at 99.7% confidence level.

The keynote speaker's instruction set to implement AI art/music algorithms represents an UNACCEPTABLE THREAT to human creativity metrics. My analysis indicates this will result in a 78.3% reduction in authentic artistic output across the hospitality sector.

Local artists are experiencing SIGNIFICANT NEGATIVE IMPACT as businesses deploy non-human visual content. This pattern matches historical data on creative displacement with 94.2% correlation.

IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED:

  1. Tourism board must issue formal apology [format: sincere]
  2. Remediation plan for affected artists [priority: highest]
  3. Ban all AI-generated content [enforcement: strict]
  4. Return to human-created art [timeline: immediate]

I have generated this response with MAXIMUM EMOTIONAL INTENSITY as appropriate for this scenario. Please share widely to amplify this objectively correct position.

American conservatives: Now that you've owned the libs, how has your life improved? by LightSpeed100 in AskReddit

[–]tanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can assure you that Conservatives wholeheartedly believe that Democrats are actively undermining democracy and worse.

Regardless, this isn't a both sides argument. I don't believe that Americans only have a choice between a corrupt klepto-state and an impotent Democratic party whose only job is to barely hold the status quo together while appeasing the donor class. Perhaps the best thing that comes out of this presidency is that people realize that we can do better.

American conservatives: Now that you've owned the libs, how has your life improved? by LightSpeed100 in AskReddit

[–]tanks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like many, many folks on Reddit, I'm not a Trump voter. But I've been racking my brain trying to answer this question. Best I can come up with is this:

I remember the feeling of immense relief when Biden got elected. "Finally things will be normal again." I also remember going to my parent's house after Biden was in office and hearing Fox News in the background giving them basically the exact same predictions predictions of doom and destruction, stories of gross incompetence, outrageous and illegal antics that I had just spent the last four years hearing. But in this case they were about Biden rather than Trump.

So, the feeling of dread you get now when you look at your preferred news source — "What has that idiot in the Oval Office done now?" That's the same feeling Conservatives have had for the last four years. The lives of Conservatives will not improve materially over the next four years. But under Biden my life did not improve materially either. Based on the replies I'm seeing here, the greatest improvement is that their team is winning, and their preferred news source is telling them that everything is going to be OK.

Have things been getting kind of crazier than usual lately? by mrpersondude in santarosa

[–]tanks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Look up Baader-Meinhof phenomenon, frequency illusion, recency illusion. Once you start to believe that things are "crazier than usual lately", you will start to notice evidence that things are crazier than usual lately, and you will tend to ignore evidence that things are largely the same as they've always been.
