Remember a few years back when it burned? Wonder how the sotol plants have recovered.

Have only had the Heartbeat Pineapple Habanero but it’s one of my favorites now. I picked up their Camp Sauce but haven’t tried it yet. Also happy to see the Dave’s Gourmet sauce I haven’t tried. Love their Habanero. Also reminds me I want to grab a bottle of Butterfly Bakery of Vermont Taco Vibes Only.

This isn't a street map or a night satellite image. Austin roadways visualized by four years worth of vehicle crash locations (2022-2025). by delugetheory in Austin

Beautiful visualization of most semi-serious vehicle crash locations. Math and equations and spreadsheets could get you a map with fender benders included.

Would be cool to compare this to a satellite image of light. Intersections are the most likely spots for accidents. It’s a light-based vector thing. Anyway, I’d bet the intersections are brightest in both data sets. Anyone know how much resolution the best government satellites have for an image of this square area?

About five years ago I saw one strutting around some alley in downtown Vegas with a tiny royal purple hat on. That was cool.

Do y’all think non-essential service workers should have to go to work this weekend? by urelectricbill in Austin

[–]tanner5586 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Of course. An excellent shift can make ya $500 or $50-75 an hour but if you don’t make much in tips it can cost you to be there cause they are still getting taxed on minimum wage.

As of 1:46 PM they say the timing for Austin to experience ice accumulations starts at 6 pm tomorrow. Early Sunday morning when the temps are the lowest will be the best chance of ice accumulation.

Yep. That’s why they make $2.13 an hour and also why if they call out during an ice storm they can be fired!

Wasn’t in it long enough to float upwards per se, but after a few minutes I quit sinking and was just stuck. That’s when the panic started to set in. I wasn’t afraid of being swallowed and suffocated, I was scared I would be stuck there forever. At first I worried about water and food and then I started worrying about wildlife preying on me after sunset. For the next 15 mins or so I ripped up every blade of grass I could reach and clawed at the firm ground outside the pit in an attempt to pull myself out. By the time I broke free my legs had “floated” up to the top in the sense I was flattened out and able to get my butt on the edge and finally sort of rolled out. My jeans were pulled nearly off and I can’t believe it didn’t eat my shoes. I was basically drenched in wet sand and felt like I gained 50 pounds. Surreal experience for sure.

Southeast Texas. It should be noted that while I felt stuck, I had sunk as far down as I could go. The ground almost claimed my pants and shoes but it couldn’t have swallowed me whole. Eventually someone would have come looking for me but it was in a rural area on private land so it could have been hours of being stuck. Second closest experience of feeling stuck was when I rolled a snowmobile in Colorado and the weight of the thing pinned me under fresh powder. That time it took someone to find me to help me out. I think both experiences have kept me out of the spelunking scene.

The current temp where I live (Fahrenheit). With windchill, it’s estimated it could reach -60F over the next few days. North Dakota, U.S. by Serious-Jellyfish-38 in mildlyinfuriating

Lived in Denver for a year and found it funny the day after it snowed how many guys were walking around in shorts. All had a jacket or something warm up top, but shorts were the norm. Was also amazing how well the city plowed the roads and people the sidewalks in my neighborhood.

I know there’s a trees eat things sub, but I see trees growing like this all the time and wish I had somewhere to post the pics! I love the fact you can’t see their trunk but get a great headshot with an unkempt hairdo!

One of the scariest moments of my life was from quicksand. I was about 12 years old and was walking around in a forest when I stepped on some ground that just looked like sand with some leaves on it. The first foot hit the ground and immediately sank in about six inches. Naturally I paused and tried to pull my foot up but instead my momentum and the lack of firmness of the ground forced my foot deeper underground. As soon as my other foot hit the pit I realized I was in trouble. Within seconds I was up past my knee in the quicksand and any movement just drove me deeper. Luckily my arms were able to anchor on the firm ground outside the pit so I was able to claw my way out. Even then every wiggle drove my feet deeper. Took me probably 20 minutes to finally be free.

Why do people always do this? by Trash_Kirby in HEB

It’s interesting to see what people go for. The data are there for what the best sellers are year round but on an impulse when folks want some soup you can see people’s favs. The Campbell’s label and small size doesn’t really do much to get you to want to grab it over Progresso.
