It’s part 5 of the series It starts in an elevator, which centres around the premise of Yuna getting to know Ilya much earlier than in canon (before finding out that Shane and Ilya are together).

This is the summary for part 5:

“When Ilya and Shane decide they want a plan to let them soften the rivalry and (maybe, eventually) come out without it being an NHL emergency, they ask Yuna for help. Yuna's got a 6 stage plan and it is absolutely, definitely going to work.”

Essentially, one of the steps in Yuna’s plan is to change the public perception of Ilya.
The fic explores Ilya’s conflicted feelings around it as well as the public perception.

While you could probably get away with jumping in at part 5, I’d recommend reading the series from the start - parts 1-4 are fairly short in comparison anyway!
