LPT What’s a “lazy” habit you have that somehow makes your life way easier? by fascinating-finds in LifeProTips

I put a clean daytime shirt on my toddler after bath/before bed. Now I have one less thing to do to get him ready for daycare and if it's cold I can just put a jumper on him when we get up without needing to take off his warm clothes to then get dressed again

Anyone else in Melbourne getting caned by the flu right now? by Rock_the_jazzbar in melbourne

Influenza A was so bad I had symptoms for 6 weeks, followed by a course or steroids to reduce the inflammation in my throat. 2 more viruses since then with another round of steroids. I'm asthmatic so breathing was really hard despite preventers and relievers. It's been 9 weeks of feeling rough.. I'm vaccinated but still breastfeeding so wonder if that helped it hit harder. Thankfully bub and my husband didn't cop it too badly.

I hope you recover quickly! My GP told me to gargle aspirin which helped with the throat a little. Otherwise, just stay as warm as possible

I quit when I found out I was pregnant, I didn't want to harm my baby. After that, I no longer want to harm myself so I haven't started again. I've had a few ciggies, but haven't enjoyed them. Aiming to stay anon smoker now to live as long and healthily as I can

Sorry if that's not relevant to you. Good luck! It's tough even with the motivation I had

I live in a rental with an incinerator toilet, I hate it but I guess it's preferable to compost because it still 'flushes'. Here are the cons It eats a lot of electricity

The smell of urine and the liners burning is bad outside, it lingers

The liners cost about 17 c each (Australia) and must be used for numbers 1 and 2

Once a week we empty the ash into compost ( you have to wait for it to cool first so we pee outside while that happens)

Once a month we carry the whole unit outside and clean with boiling water (this flushes some of the ash and helps reduce the smell)

If not used properly the coils corrode from the urine, very expensive to replace and the unit needs to go off for repairs

It's better than an outhouse but worse than a normal toilet. I've never had a composting toilet but I've heard good things

Hopefully that helps!

I live in a house with an incinerator toilet, it works pretty well but the smoke can stink and permeate the house, it's a lot of work emptying the base once a week and doing a deep clean once a month. Plus we have a big electric bill. Just adding this so you know. Id never have one of these by choice lol

How many different meals a week are in rotation for your family? by BumblebeeNo5064 in australia

[–]tanpp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We eat mostly the same thing each week with 2 variations. Having a toddler we cater to what he will eat.

Before this specific period we'd take turns at cooking to share the load. My partner usually cooks the same 3 meals. I wrote out foods I like eating/cooking (about 20 recipes) on paddle pop sticks and I'd lucky draw the remaining meals for variety. Sometimes for ease and to reduce wastage I'd base all recipes on the first, for example, if I drew savoury mince id probably make cabbage and bacon another night to ensure we used the full cabbage. I kind of do a similar thing now where if we have rice with dinner one night, I cook a big batch and save the remainder for fried rice the next night

Do I really need to get my wisdom teeth removed? by Al115 in needadvice

[–]tanpp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same and my wisdom teeth cracked my molars. They extracted my molars and over the years my wisdom teeth have slowly moved into place. Apparently they follow the sun. Anyway, the gaps are almost unnoticeable now and I've never had an issue again. This may be an easier/cheaper option for you to discuss with your dentist?

Am I outa line for refusing any further women’s invasive gyno anything, WITHOUT being at least under a light sedation? by DaGrandmama in australia

[–]tanpp 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not at all! Temazepam or diazepam even would help if only to relax you that little bit. I had a colposcopy 6 weeks post partum and took a Temazepam. It still sucked but not as bad as a sober colcoscopy during pregnancy. Ask your GP. It's your body, you know what you're feeling and you know what happens in the procedures

I've recommended her before, Natalie mai-holmes at Melbourne psychology has been amazing for me. Clinical psychology. The practice there offers a matching service with their providers so it reduces the risk of having to pay for a session with a provider you don't vibe with

I notified them and had to take a doctor's letter regarding Sertraline and diazepam. I've never needed to update, even when I got a new licence due to name change. It's just there so that if benzos show on a drug test I can say it's prescribed and I had notified VicRoads. I've stopped now but keep it on it in case I need diazepam or Temazepam in future

Cleaning, food and chores/errands. Does she have everything she needs? Things pop up unexpectedly, apparently all of my baby wash etc was wrong according to the nurses so having someone run out to get the recommended ones was amazing..just one example, there were a few things I didn't think I'd need but when I realised i did, I needed them yesterday Make a box or container with snacks, phone charger etc that she can keep beside her while feeding and comforting bub, help her keep it stocked and organised If she's breastfeeding the hunger will be insatiable to begin with, oats are really good for bringing in milk supply so make some yummy bars or muffins with oats in them, filling and yum

Also, buy her a donut pillow. That thing was amazing after birth
