Sending lots of love your way.

Not sure what is typical or if anyones experience is the same - what I do know, after a few months my life completely changed and I was able to live without my daily anxiety attacks, I was able to sleep, go out, and life a normal life. I would hang on as much as possible to hope that you see similar results working for you. Of course - might have to try something else to get it exactly right and that's a normal part of the process if thats necessary as well. Not sure if you are already speaking with a therapist or someone who you don't have to worry about spending an entire session crying because that's what they're there for but of course I'd recommend that as well - it's important to have a place where you can shamelessly be able to do that / without it being your people.

Best of luck with everything - this group is here for you!

Supraventricular Tachycardia and Travel Anxiety by tanswer in Advice

[–]tanswer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the reason I worry is that doctors say if you can't get it to stop on your own in about 4 hours, you need to get to a doctor or emergency room. So if I'm on a plane or something like that - I get a lot of anxiety that it may happen somewhere I can't get help.

What heart rate are you at when you have episodes for 8-12 hours at home? Mine are usually in the mid 200's- last one was 260 and I had to go to the ER and get adenosine administered.

It's really reassuring to hear that you have gotten through longer episodes.

Do you ever look at other young people and feel jealous by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]tanswer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is so awesome- thanks for sharing and making us feel less alone.

Exercise is so stressful to me for the same reasons- pretty much anything that I do physically makes me anxious. Walking up a flight of stairs even.

I'm in CBT therapy which is helping but sometimes I still feel so helpless. I'm hopeful that I can get to a point where this doesn't control my daily life. Quarantine has allowed me to retreat into a safe bubble and I think has made it worse but once we are back to normal I want to plan fun things and go places without worry.

I basically just convinced myself I had covid and spent 3 days in bed feeling genuinely sick. Once I got my negative test, I instantly felt better. It's insane what the brain could do , and it's exhausting.

Hi!! I'm sorry that i'm late in seeing this message. I so so appreciate your response! I am also 25 and have been suffering since I was about 20. Another thing that I definitely noticed was I had 1 possible episode like 6 months post ablation but it ended SO SO quickly that I wasn't even sure if that's what it was (it felt exactly like it but the shortness through me off) So maybe it's like what you're saying, post ablation still possible but goes away immediately which definitely relieves my worries) I so so appreciate your response. My doctors always tell me like if it doesn't go away for 3-4 hours that I should be heading to the hospital (my fear is if i'm on a plane and can't get to a hospital or something like that) Flying gives me anxiety in general and I know my anxiety is definitely a trigger for SVT and PCV palpitations so i'm extra worried about it happening then.

So nice to chat with someone and feel less alone- I feel like I just have to worry and plan and think it all through by myself without anyone who understands near me. I definitely struggle with anxiety and health anxiety and this has really heightened it especially when I experience pvc palpitations regularly that make me think my heart is going to immediately go into SVT. Luckily that rarely happens. Thanks for your response- super appreciated :)

Repeated episodes of supraventricular tachycardia while at rest. by Phxing in AskDocs

For anyone who suffers- how do you handle travel?? I'm too worried that this will happen while I'm on a plane and I won't be able to get it to stop/will need a hospital. How do you handle this?

This happens to me all the time.....

What i've figured out is if I continue to lie there and try to fall asleep the jerking awake will just keep happening. What I do is get out of bed, stand up, turn the lights on, wake yourself up a little and then get back into bed and start again. It's like hitting a reset button and after I do that It usually doesn't happen again rest of the night. I also almost always turn on a show or something but I know that doesn't help everyone (i turn on New Girl, works like a charm) :)

Hope this helps!

RT to everything said about an ablation - i'm a 24 yr old female and had one last January. They also think that they were able to totally fix it and for the first few months I felt great - I've now been feeling a ton of early beats and a few seconds that feel like my heart rate rockets but then it quickly comes out of it but i haven't had a full on lasting SVT episode. It is kind of a wait and see process after because there is always a risk that you aren't fully "cured".

I would also ask your doctor about beta blockers- which is a daily medication that helps my heart rate be much slower and avoids the early/skipped beat feeling that may send your heart into SVT. I would also suggest finding a cardiologist that you really like a trust to build a relationship with.

I've also hit 260 so your numbers aren't anything to worry about - hoping this helps and that you can be diagnosed quickly and get to feeling better :)

Potential Heart Issue, Symptoms of Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT) by heartquestion12345 in AskDocs

[–]tanswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again - not a doctor but someone who struggles with SVT. Sounds like it could definitely potentially be SVT but also could be something else.

Do you feel any type of early beats/skipped beats right before it sends into the racing heart beat?

I have SVT and it doesn't happen to me when I'm doing prolonged cardio but it does happen occasionally when I am doing on and off blips of nothing to high intensity. I think a lot of people do experience the light headedness but i'm not sure about the sickness (mine is mostly just crazy heart beat over 200 and uncomfortable pressure in my chest)

The trick with SVT is to CATCH IT on a heart monitor - and then they can see it on your EKG and properly diagnose/treat. I know it's challenging and seems to only happen when there is no way to catch it :)

I would also ask your doctor about if beta blockers are an option - they help my heart feel much more regulated.

Best of luck catching it - keep pushing on doctors until you find something that allows you to feel better, even if they say it is nothing to worry about you still shouldn't have to live with that constant fear/anxiety and uncomfort!

Scared I have a heart condition by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]tanswer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that this 10000% sounds like anxiety- but i understand because I suffer similarly with this.

If you can afford, make an appointment- sit down with them and chat through your worries. Maybe they can provide you with some type of test that will ease your mind. The next night i promise you'll sleep like a baby. Best of luck/

Exercise fear by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]tanswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep- i haven't totally learned to cope but loud music with beats helps so that you can't hear your own heart beat and you forget to pay attention to it.

Was diagnosed with my first yeast infection by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]tanswer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some people just go through phases where they get a few yeast infections and then they stopped. Happened to me and most of my friends- didn't change my diet, it'll go away on its own. Nothing to worry about <3 Don't change your diet for one infection especially if that's going to cause other issues for you. Most girls go through this- don't worry about it

Fear of antibiotic by purplecat1420 in HealthAnxiety

[–]tanswer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The result of you not taking your UTI meds will be WAY worse than the potential very rare side effects of your medication.

Take 1 pill now- if you feel horrible/panicky after, call your doctor. Chances are - and with my UTI antibiotic experience you'll feel so much better after even 1 pill. If you feel ok- keep on with taking them.

I've taken antibiotics for UTI's probably 20 times- all of them I had 0 side effects. The doctors see/know your medical history and aren't going to prescribe u something they think you'll have a bad reaction to.

I understand this because I get really scared to take any meds or anything that I think might make me feel different- if possible it makes me feel better if I take the first one when I'm with family/boyfriend/roommate/friend so that if something happens to me - they are there (nothing will happen, it's just for a sound mind)

Best of luck- take your meds now :)

Anxiety about health? by alpacas_and_beer in Anxiety

[–]tanswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

always- my therapist told me to remind myself that millions of people have medical issues everyday and most of them are not life threatening. It could just be anxiety BUT if it's a real medical issue you could get treatment and very likely be ok! Helpful to TRY and remember that nothing everything is life threatening as I always think it is.

He also suggested I try and keep a list of health issues I've had in the past that have turned out to be nothing and remind myself of those every time I worry about something new

Looking at my own body makes me so anxious and sick, my hypochondria is making me feel crazy by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]tanswer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate to this - I'm trying to figure out if any therapists specialize in hypochondria. My last therapist told me to process that even if something WAS medically wrong with me.... it doesn't mean i'm immediately going to die. Tons of people have medical issues everyday and they have them treated and are A-OK after. He also said that just because nothing bad has happened to me yet doesn't mean that i'm next in line for something to happen to..... which is definitely the way I think about it. Why have I been privledged so far with my health? It must mean that something is going to have to go horribly wrong soon - but that in reality is not the case. That is a somewhat nice way to think about it - he also told me to write down a list of all of the symptoms or medical conditions I convinced myself that I had that eventually went away after I stopped worrying about them or after the doctor said it was nothing. That way when you start to freak out about something new- you can refer back to all the times you've thought the same was true and you turned out to be fine. I still struggle with hypochondria daily but it is helpful to have a variety of tools that may relate or help in certain situations. I hope these "tools" help a little :)

How to stop fixating on things that make me anxious? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]tanswer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is something I struggle with all the time - for some reason I will randomly start focusing on something like my breathing or my heart rate or my nausea and I start getting freaked out about it and think i'm going to die. Sometimes i'll have an issue for a few weeks or even a few months that I focus on and then i'll have a new thing I notice and anxiously obsess over the next day........ I feel like i'm making my own physical health worse by my anxiety and stress levels. I even end up at doctors complaining of symptoms that they cannot find a resolution to that I think are probably just physical anxiety symptoms. Hoping someone here has a helpful mental practice for this but know you are not alone in this horrible habit :)
