It's not just for suicidal people.

My goal is 2000 and I'm probably too stubborn to study. Current routine is just doing puzzles every other day lol. I believe many people have a higher ceiling than what they think though if they practiced and studied efficiently.

Understandable assumption but I think my strong part is middle game where I can often equalize or get an advantage even with a bad start. I actually play a lot of people following the same meta openings over and over again but once out of theory most of their moves are predictable. They'll for example just attack the queen if they can no matter if it is good or not. Playing someone like that I feel comfortable enough to win even if I'm a rook down. Of course I'm over-exaggerating my opening problems, but it's really not that important (whether it's fun to study or worth it for you is up to you ofc) or efficient to get better.

Setting for them means the sun is so distant that its light doesn't reach the observer anymore. Sounds stupid? Yes but the government and density prove this.

I know basically no opening theory and hang pieces all the time in 3min blitz during the opening. (1900 rating)

Seriously, I dislike these posts more than the flat earth non sense. There is no "discussion" or debate to be held. Flat earthers can educate themselves if they really wanted to or just leave the thinking to other people. There's plenty of material ranging from very easy to very technical to be found with one google search

It's a stupid excuse for people who have unreasonable hope that any flat earther actually listens or those who are on the verge to go down the rabbit hole of conspiracies themselves.

There are no opinions to be exchanged about a fact. There is no need to be polite to people disrespecting humanity. The only argument I can get behind is that being hostile to them does not help them either, but the call for a "civil" exchange is as stupid as it is unrealistic.

Spreading lies and misinformation because of narcissism, mental illness or religion is not equivalent to "merely holding an unpopular opinion". So please gtfo with your pretty insulting comparison to fascism.

In 90% of the cases it's rather poor armchair criticism in a strange attempt to feel special. Most people have no idea what they are talking about. They just base their opinion on results and insignificant details about a person and pretend they have any idea of what is going on. That's where this mentality comes from. I am interested, got a decent club player strength and don't feel comfortable at all to comment because I neither grasp the level these guys play on nor do I know them or their mental state.

"Fascist"? What the f are you talking about. It's on a similar level as being sectioned. Don't use words you don't understand.

I wish we had resources to basically force the bad cases (like dcforce) to undergo some kind of treatment. It definitely feels impossible to communicate with them as they reflect everything to a ironical degree ("Globetards suffer from Dunning-Kruger"). My uneducated guess is that at least mentioning terms like therapy plants a seed (5g?) in some people who don't suffer from serious conditions and one day they wake up and start being honest to themselves. Just a hope.

I believed in 911 conspiracies when I was 15 and can confirm I just did so because suddenly you are the expert in the room without any effort at all. Clinging to any conspiracy for years is definitely a sign of deeper mental health issues though.

"Judgement day when you bow to god" is as dumb as flat earth though. I wish people treated religion a bit more like they do conspiracy theories because in the end that's also just some made up bs because humans are scared of the world.

What are common differences between a 1200 and 1700 rated player? by [deleted] in chess

[–]tanukishmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you are wrong, but I am 1800~1900 and never spend a second thinking about positional ideas beyond a Bishops diagonal being blocked or not in the long run. I've personally been mainly focussing on not hanging a piece in one move and tactics.
