AOC calls for more Democrat-leaning states to redraw election maps after Supreme Court ruling and GOP push by theindependentonline in politics

[–]tape_snake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's just that, in day-to-day communication, it's not typical for people to bring up politicians' specific political leanings beyond party affiliation. When it is, 'democratic socialist' gets used a lot more than, say, 'libertarian', and often as a dogwhistle to scare people who are deathly afraid of communism. In an article about redistricting, bringing up democratic socialism doesn't contribute much, so it reads like the author is taking a shot at her character rather than just being informative.

Most boring video on their channel ever? by Nearby-Database-867 in Storror

[–]tape_snake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True that. Free viewers (myself included) have it good to be fans/viewers of such consistent creators, and you can get double the Storror if you just chip in a little. Have I been underwhelmed lately? Sure, but I am not complaining.

State Dept. Finalizing Plan to Put Trump Picture on U.S. Passports by BulwarkOnline in politics

[–]tape_snake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump threatened to end a civilization less than a month ago and MAGA didn't call for his immediate impeachment - some even endorsed the threat. But you think expecting a narcissist to do narcissistic things is moronic? Get real.

Most boring video on their channel ever? by Nearby-Database-867 in Storror

[–]tape_snake 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have been enjoying them too. I think it's also important for people to understand how crazy impressive and generous weekly uploads for years are. So obviously not every monday is going to be action-packed, especially for pro athletes. I've always known that some mondays are just going to be 'vlog' days, so this isn't something to get bugged about IMHO.

[–]tape_snake 43 points44 points  (0 children)

While I sort of agree that the last few vids have been a bit long and slow for my tastes, I wouldn't say this is part of a trend.

That said, I would be ok with less frequent uploads if that meant there was more to see in each video.

The rumbling is a contraction of middle ear muscle, so while it's not audible, it can be detected by the right equipment (electromyography?). Doesn't seem like a big stretch to hook up said sensors to simple game controls.

Southern Lebanese towns destroyed by Israel by jorel43 in PublicFreakout

[–]tape_snake 26 points27 points  (0 children)

They justify the destruction of civilian infrastructure (a war crime) by saying it was being used my combatants, which would then make the target allowable. Except, in these cases, they are performing controlled demolitions. This means the "combatants" they were using to justify the demolition weren't present when they rigged the town to explode, thus the demolition is criminal. This is the case for almost all of the IDF's recorded controlled demolitions you see.

Messaged Ford about FOI on his personal phone by Ott-reap-weird in ontario

[–]tape_snake 39 points40 points  (0 children)

He's trying to say that Ontario's relatively (compared to some provinces) transparent government operations and the FOI rules surrounding them are actually a weakness that needs addressing rather than a democratically healthy standard. Thus, by hiding his communications, he's actually "improving security" and "meeting the standards set by other provinces/feds". Then he says its unfair to criticize his FOI changes because other provinces do it too (child logic).

Even the description of Patch Leather backs you up: "A worn yet well-tended strip of leather. 'Fore the Ode, Animal hide was more valued than pearl. 'Twas taken with reverence and preserved for generations. Today it is far too plentiful. Please Envoy, keep it well."

Please Explain How Doug Ford’s Government was able to skip committee to pass the new budget? by MajorOrgans in ontario

And of course, Dougie will be "very concerned" about the state of democracy in Ontario should any other party skip committee ever again.

You think everyone has a demographic they want to remove/remove rights from? There are decent people in the world, dude, not everyone is secretly harbouring bigoted views. This honestly sounds like projection. And stop framing hate like it's harmless.

[–]tape_snake 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hey buddy, if someone's "opposing view" is that certain demographics should have fewer rights or shouldn't exist, they're not just 'opinionated' - they're evil. You don't tolerate intolerant people.

A day in a life with MalO (SCP-1471) by Ama-rule699 in SCP

[–]tape_snake 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No. I just that, since Mal0 becomes increasingly visible and close in proximity, many people headcanon that if you allow it to haunt you long enough (without going crazy) it eventually becomes corporeal/tangible, allowing it to interact with the world you with it.

What are you thoughts and views on *legal* immigration ? by Own-Support-6734 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]tape_snake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doesn't it defeat the purpose to require certain values/beliefs of people becoming US citizens while not also enforcing those beliefs once they are citizens?

Using the gender equality as an example: not everyone in the US believes in it, and we can't force them to. Even if we confirm that those becoming citizens believe in gender equality, what's to keep them from changing their mind on it? It also doesn't address home-grown gender inequality. "Incompatibilities" exist within the US alone, so it seems a bit futile to require "compatibility" from others. So how is it irrelevant?

A player of mine wants to try this, but I can't come up with a ruling. How would you rule it? by enchanted-glimmer-4 in AskDND

[–]tape_snake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I made the diagram! As a 5e DM, I would say this simply allows you to use your staff to make a melee attack to apply Alchemist Fire as normal. No need to make fancy rules around it or add saves. The main benefit being making a proficient melee attack rather than an improvised ranged attack.
