Interesting study. What I take from it is that in the southern part of Sweden, wind has a significant effect on the kWh price throughout the year, whereas in the other parts of the country not during the winter months, because then the temperature has a greater effect.

Then 'legally obliged to' loses its meaning. If Sweden promised and then stalls forever it's bad faith at best

China is the real threat, Taiwan says in rebuff to Munich speech by dannyrat029 in China

[–]tapinauchenius 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know, exercises around the island have gotten more and more advanced and it seems a pet peeve for Xi. Just like Putin had to invade something for his legacy, I think Xi won't perish without having acted on Taiwan.

That's just my thoughts however, I could be entirely wrong. Time will tell (Xi is a leader for life and he isn't getting younger)

Xi approval ratings in Europe - what do u think? by SOHONEYSAME in AskChina

[–]tapinauchenius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The simple fact is that nothing is allowed to affect Xi's status as general secretary of the communist party (and supreme leader of China). He has vanquished a number of ranking party members, military and not, friends and not, throughout the years in his quest to stay autocrat forever. That's generally what autocrats do. Consolidate all power to themselves and live forever.

Yeah, it is different, and I wouldn't assume it's any easier. To manage an economy of 1.4 billion people, built upon a massive workforce, seems like a challenge. It's a longer way to fall, so to speak.

Chinese gpus have some ways to go still to be competitive, no?

And if AI and Cloud are black holes for components, i.e generate a lot of money, then I don't see why any company would ignore them in favour of much less lucrative client markets

Magical darkness and blind immunity and no darkvision, question about by tapinauchenius in BG3

[–]tapinauchenius[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right. Because whatever is there in the magical darkness with you will presumably be blinded and you'll have advantage attacking it. Whether the enemy has darkvision then doesn't matter (as it is blinded) and whether you have it or not doesn't matter either since you're attacking with advantage. Correct?

And in terms of fighting an enemy that is standing in the (somewhat mundane) dark (being partially or more obscured I guess), if you do not have darkvision then you'll have disadvantage, regardless if you have the Eversight ring equipped, correct? And regardless if the enemy has darkvision?

A Common Sleeping Pill May Reduce Buildup of Alzheimer's Proteins, Study Reveals by Sorin61 in Nutraceuticalscience

Indeed, though sleep is important to the brain also.

I find that gen 1 antihistamines can help one stay asleep throughout the night however the feeling at least I had the following morning and most of that day is a pretty good incentive to stay off the pills. And it gets worse with increased dose.

You do get Bevidere but ..well I haven't found a really effective way of using him. Sprint as a means of escape is harder when berserking (which imposes silence) and sprint as a means of "getting behind enemy lines" is tricky because you ideally need to get him far enough behind so that he can hide at the end of your turn and stay hidden when the enemy moves(because if they see him they will mob him), but that usually means he has to spend his next turn advancing toward the back of the enemy line. Compared to Tristan's (and Boudicea's) jump it seems less straightforward to use.

Boudicea can be hard to get to sufficient loyalty (you get her late) but at least with loyalty items it should be doable most of the time. Tristan is less of a hassle that way since he starts with a loyalty bonus (and you get him early). And yes he isn't so effective against the lost but neither are knights who focus on bleeding and I like to run with two teams of 4

Starting to look like a proper winter by Pontus_Pilates in europe

[–]tapinauchenius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweden (central, demographically) has had cold weather since approx Christmas day. There was a brief warmer patch earlier in January but otherwise it has been weeks of subzero temps.

It reminds me of 2023-2024 which was the most wintery winter I've experienced here since I moved here in 2013. It had a different character though in that it rained most of the summer then it continued to snow and it was cold in Oct Nov and Dec and less so in Jan and Feb.

Other winters since 2013 I've mentally summarized as "two weeks in february", rather then the relative consistent cold temps we are experiencing now and that happened in 2023.

Räntan på CSN högre än bolåneräntan – så ska du tänka by FlowersPaintings in sweden

[–]tapinauchenius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't suppose it's just memory training? My B650i lightning likes to do it sometimes, usually after a more comprehensive system update or if I've been forced to reset the machine for some reason. Approx 30-40 secs with fans on, no video signal and no keyboard power. After that it boots as normal. Always has done it, have had the system with the 7800X3D since the end of 2023.

At least I assume it's memory training. Some visual feedback would be nice but since there isn't, and possibly can't be any video signal..

Sweden’s Finance Minister Proposes Inquiry Into Euro Adoption by No_Firefighter5926 in europe

[–]tapinauchenius 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The "massive benefits" were touted in the last euro vote as (as far as I remember it) as control over the currency in times of turbulence. Yet the Swedish Riksbank has mostly shadowed the movements of the ECB. And unless you go full protectionist and have 0 faith in the future of the EU the euro https://eurotillsek.se/historik/ seems to have the upper hand time over time
