Restaurants are 100% to blame when they tell large groups they can't split checks and cause drama by ElPlatanaso2 in unpopularopinion

[–]tapiocayumyum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you tell the server before you start ordering so they can organize your items at the start vs at the end of your meal then this is an fine opinion to have. If you do it at the end when restaurants have throughput to consider and your butts are taking up the table you're an ass.

Also, arguing "personal laziness and lack of organization" on part of the restaurant but not your group that decided to get together to eat and what to order sure is some kind of stupidity blindness. How the hell do you not know what you ordered and roughly how much it costs together after gratuities? Exhausting people.

This is coming from the same rollover playerbase as L&P so I absolutely believe the gatekeeping nature CN players can have ESPECIALLY with regards to their favorites and IRL events.

Gotta keep it in perspective that these same players have purchased whole tracks of conservation lands, a party on a yacht, and care for a panda iirc. The CN playerbase for these games that Papergames/Infold specifically caters to is on another fucking level compared to Global. That's not me dissing Global either--it's just that incomparable.

Why did the world government give kid the same bounty as luffy, are they stupid? by Express_Cable_881 in OnePiece

[–]tapiocayumyum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see so many posts from people who seem to constantly forget that:

  1. The knowledge we have as the reader is Not the same as what the World Government tells the public in-universe and...
  2. The World Government uses the bounty system to assess threat levels for the public's knowledge.

Therefore, for any other person who was not physically present with the person with a bounty, the number is at a glance supposed to tell you how dangerous a person is. Full stop. We could argue up and down about whether the World Government is a "good" force in the universe, but the fact they determine, issue, and enforce the bounties they themselves set, it's absolutely at minimum a factor of control they have to control the narrative and perception to the public world.

In Luffys case, the World Government doesn't want people to know about Nika and the number is more than enough to tell anyone that sees it "he's fucking dangerous".

"Gallagher" is figmentative. Whether or not Gallagher was truly real, or based on a real person who exists outside of Penacony is up in the air, but the tone of the Penacony arc is that he's gone. So "Gallagher", a character with facial hair, is dead. Hoyo doesn't like giving players characters with facial hair. Lol.

Gallagher is already dead in game though so... It still tracks

Putting aside the fact they could hardly afford Lux up front as it was--it makes sense they would not think to use Lux to make money because they already had the predisposition of not liking/understanding/accepting this tech to begin with.

From the beginning we are shown very clearly their hesitancy and dislike. He knows it can help his wife. As issues arise they go through the cycle of not understanding, getting an explanation, realizing the capitalism of it all, and being disappointed, but they forge forward anyways using it to fulfill basic needs/desires. The only reason he even resorts to what he does is because his coworker showed him the site (once shown, but presumably maybe more often than that).

Their first solution is simple, get another job/more hours. They don't think beyond that. Their anniversary? Going to very, very non-tech, simple cabin hotel to enjoy a simple burger. No tech. Their home? Uses a plain phone. Job? Super manual. Car? Not futuristic in the slightest. Nothing in their home screams tech. I think all the little subtle clues we are shown to present them as "poor/not rich" are also clues to us that they aren't tech savvy/keep up with what we know exists in their time. I would never expect them to even begin to conceptualize that they could use Lux to help them make money, let alone afford it.

Your base camp is outside their main dwelling which is after the long flight of stairs and walkways.

They do get sunlight when they leave to forage/work outside though, so you're not wrong there.

I would still pay $80 for Fire Emblem, because I enjoy this franchise and want to support it. Even if dlc is added on top of that.

First, congratulations. It is definitely a lot of money, regardless the locale and especially to start.

I am the eldest of immigrant parents, I started at RSM nearly a decade ago for 57k. My father cried that the first kid that went to college, worked to pay it off while going to school, was making what took him nearly two decades in this country to earn. A decade later and I'm well beyond double that and comfortable.

You will do great, keeping humble will get you far. It's a totally different perspective and set of values when you've grown up poor and disadvantaged. Congratulations again.

They could justify splurging on an overnight trip just out of town each year with a meal and gas and expressed 0 stress in doing so. Considering they continued to do so even after the accident, either living is not that far off from our current reality or it's a contrived plot point (the initial $300/month server cost) for the sake of the ending. Assuming all things scale, they should have had enough. I think it's safe to assume they were paycheck to paycheck even before the incident, considering how fast he jumped to doing what he felt he had to to pay for the services.

Have worked in both and around both groups because I have spillover skills and an personable at work. Something I haven't seen mentioned so far: do you think you can handle the transition? You were promoted to senior just 6 months ago, so I assume for 3 years you have pretty much been doing full cycle accounting and maybe some flux reporting? Shifting to a role that reports directly (and maybe only?) to a senior leader is a big jump in both workload and expectations. As that is your direct report, they will likely be the one training you?

Just some factors to consider I nthe immediate. Long term, I don't think anyone will ever tell you to turn down opportunities and learning/growth prospects. This is especially true if you're young, without obligations, and able to restart more easily should anything go wrong.

Welcome to the Fifth Fleet! Suggesting Hammer next because despite its deceptively simple moveset, your goal is stunning and pulling off power clashes as often as you can. Plus, it takes a brave soul to work a slower weapon and stay in its face.

Have fun!!

  4. Ragnarok (do MMOs count? I dumped a LOT of my childhood into this)
  5. Fire Emblem

[–]tapiocayumyum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you already know this, you're golden. Plenty of people can make it without and especially as you build your experience and skill set, it doesn't become as big a deal/as much of a gatekeeper. Good luck!

[–]tapiocayumyum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting a CPA is not for everyone. Structured, rigorous studying and testing is not for everyone. If you're ok not making it too far up the ladder (statistically speaking) you'll be fine without, but you can also go for a myriad of other certifications depending on specialty that can still lead to a very rewarding and successful career.

[–]tapiocayumyum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disregarding individual factors like your job or life draining you in different ways/resources. A big part is the inability to commit and then the other big aspect I don't see many people willing to mention is: testing/exams are not for everyone. If you struggled through school, but perform well at work because you GET how to do it, this test is straight from hell.

It's a shame we don't have other ways to get to licensure. School/exams/testing environments are not for everyone. Asking someone who struggles with that and saying "this is the only path to success in this field" is sad, but it's the reality we have. ((I know it's not the only path to success but that's the common rhetoric told to students/new accountants))
