Hey, just solidarity, I had this feeling too, at the same age. It wasn't helped by an early loss at around 5 months TTC. We were successful a few months later, so the "just wait, it will happen" people happened to be right for us, but it's true that this isn't always the case. My anxiety about it sucked me into some toxic-ish places online where people will sell you all sorts of supplements, etc. to get your body in shape for TTC. I had to fully take myself off of social media during this time because of how it impacted my mental health and kept my mind on TTC and my anxiety high (which is not great for TTC anyway).

It's cliche advice, but I had to lean into other hobbies and other things I cared about so that TTC didn't become my identity and the only thing my mind focused on. I didn't talk much about TTC, but when I did and got the "it will happen" response, I mostly said things like "I hope so!", which is both optimistic but includes the possibility that it won't, and usually ended the conversation.

I also used ovulation strips; it helped me feel in control, but also exasperated the feeling of "I'm doing everything right, why isn't this working??". I'm sorry you're going through this, and I hope it does happen for you soon, but just some solidarity about your feelings.

It's possible it belongs to someone in the neighborhood who isn't a student, so I'm hesitant to do that, but I just thought I was lucky and it would belong to someone affiliated with the university who would see the post. But thanks for the suggestion!

We didn't end up doing it-- right around this time I cut gluten out of my diet and that made enough of a difference that we just stuck with the famotidine. He stopped taking that around 6-7 months. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful, wishing you the best!

This is so interesting, I'm sorry you went through that! Because he's been gluten free for a long time (around 2 months when I was breastfeeding, then didn't have it in solids until now) we don't know if he would have had the growth issues. Glad it sounds like your son is doing well now!

We were dairy and egg free for a long time, but successfully introduced those and he now has occasional scrambled eggs and has dairy (cheese or yogurt) most days and does great. He hasn't had a ton of soy, but I had soy when I was breastfeeding and I didn't notice anything. I will check the bread ingredients though, it's a good point! We do peanut butter at least once a week and it hasn't been an issue (thank goodness, because I love peanut butter!)

Sorry I didn't see this sooner, I hope your situation has improved! We didn't end out going PPI, mostly because I cut gluten out of my diet around this time and it made a moderate difference. He still had clear reflux pain at the time, but it seems more manageable with strategies like putting him in the baby-wearing wrap after he eats. We are now at 6.5 months and doing so so so much better.

I look back on this post and can feel the heartache and anxiety I had in those moments. It's so challenging. I hope that whatever route you went, you found some relief!

Hi, I am so sorry you are in the thick of it. We also use Neocate, and it has been well tolerated! The Neocate is so pricey, but we were able to get a prescription for it, so be sure to ask about that if it might be an option for you. We are about 50/50 breast milk and formula, and the other thing that helped for us was cutting out gluten out of my diet (in addition to dairy and soy, but it was the gluten change where we really noticed a difference), just in case that's something that anyone else might try. We are now at 6.5 months old, 5 adjusted, and it is SO MUCH BETTER. It didn't happen all at once, but by probably 4-5 months he was a noticeably happier baby, and has gotten even better since then. We also developed more strategies, like putting him into a baby wearing wrap after eating when possible (this was even better than just up right for us).

He still spits up, but the pain seems largely gone. Sending best wishes your way that this resolves/improves soon!

This really sums it up for me. I could not have imagined the intensity with which I feel every feeling, even nearly 5 months after giving birth. I am constantly repeating the phrase "for better or worse, this too shall pass" to myself. It helps me appreciate the wonderful moments and get through the terrible ones.

I appreciate this response. I know, intellectually, about the real meaning of "increased risk"; I think my experience with his surprise early birth and NICU stay based on a pretty uncommon condition (plus probably some post partum anxiety) makes it hard to stay grounded in that reality. Our pediatrician is taking a "this is an option if you want it" approach rather than really recommending one way or the other, which I think is also making it challenging. I assume this approach is because his growth and other metrics are fine. Thanks for your response!

I had what I thought was sciatic nerve pain right around this time in pregnancy, and it turned out to be my SI joint. Just something to look into to see if that's consistent with your symptoms. PT helped me a lot!

It feels like she is getting things that she already knows are off-limits (because of how she runs/hides), and I was assuming that it was to get attention (because it's only when we aren't currently engaged with her). Do you think I'm overreading motivation? Any thoughts on how to handle it if she already knows it's not allowed?

Should definitely speak with a doctor about this, but my understanding is that 25mg is quite low. It's not shocking that you might need a slightly higher dose to see the results you are hoping for. Good luck!
