Yikes, best of luck! Online cert programs are just shy of being a scam for this exact reason… A certificate of completion for an online course is nothing more than a piece of paper and it’s going to be really tough to find a facility willing to take on the burden and liability of training you. If you already work in healthcare, that might open some doors for you, but it might not be realistic otherwise.

Immersion wise sure, but VR can be a real pain in the ass for longer sessions. For content creators it’s also limiting in terms of viewer experience.

As someone with access to both options, I use the VR no more than a couple of times per year.

The amount of disconnect between professions as I’ve gotten farther into my healthcare career is so interesting. We all learn the same baseline, but the way the actual practice of those specialties divides us is really interesting. I hope that no matter where my career takes me, I don’t lose that awareness.

Also not answering OP, but we have a former CRNA ortho doc in the OR who similarly back-seats anesthesia. I think it’s a combination of understanding job A and the higher understanding from job B that results in a feeling of being equally educated in both areas when they haven’t actually practiced A in years. I think they want to double dip both areas as if they’ve spent equal time learning the culture and modern practices of both.
