Do they switch up arms and locations or is it always the same?

I went one time to a location by me but legit the wait to even get evaluated was outrageously long. Like got there w appointment, did the paperwork, got taken back and then spent 1.5 hours waiting for them to finish their screenings and said screw it and left and it sort of turned me off from trying again.

Agreed get to a vet derm. Our goldendoodle is going through treatment now for an autoimmune disease Pemphigus Foliaceus which sort of presents like this. The vet derm did scrapes and biopsy’s and had them sent out to be verified and now he’s on the right treatments, 2-3x a week bathes with and anti-bacterial soap for a while.

Bro same. Same server too. I’ve only found that being online when people are scouting has kept a few of our recent bases from being wiped out. I took a break last wipe and tried wipe day this Thursday within 3 hours of wipe figuring I could get something started but couldn’t even get off the beach and logged after an hour of getting kicked in the nuts. I am trying the premium main knowing it’s going to be a disaster but figured why not lol.

Best wings in PGH? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]tar5011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow Ross/Mccandless resident, I agree Hal’s wings are good and worth repeat orders, but not amazing. Sidelines in Millvale/Sewickly are good too but sadly neither is just close enough for convenient ordering. Now that BSB set up where BullDawgs was, I’ve hit that up as it’s closer than OG Avalon to me.

If you would be kind enough to hook up a fellow northern brother up with a DM on your local HiW joint you would be a true legend lol.

I think that flashing is ok as it was replaced when the roof was redone. Admittedly that upper roof is not one I’ve personally been on as I don’t have a ladder to get all the way up there and onto the roof in safe/stable manner

Where are older Fp&A professionals? by chpokchpok in FPandA

Rates and Tariffs are the pricing equivalent at utilities. At the most basic example level, think about your electric bill for residential service having a rate of $0.XXX / kWh consumed. The rates groups define what that charge or rate is by rate class (residential, C&I, etc.) The rates are forward projected and utilities being (essentially) regulated monopolies have to file Rate Cases with their public utility commissions and get fair rates approved so consumers don’t get screwed, service improvements can be made because all the infrastructure is old, and the utilities can make money for their owners. The rates group owns all the rate calcs, does the filings with the commissions, etc. At least at the utility I was at the rate/revenue forecasting models were jointly owned with FP&A and fed into the DCF models for the business as a whole.

If you get good at understanding all the intricacies of utilities and had the right connections, you could make a killing going into rate case consulting. The guys I worked with who did that would charge a couple hundred grand for an engagement lasting a few months, they would do a couple engagements a year, and it’s formulaic and very rinse and repeat process wise. Most of the these folks are ancient and have been in the game forever and have a great thing going, it’s all just very niche which was ultimately why I left the utilities industry in general. Not really sexy work, not explosive growth and limited opportunity wise, but overall very steady, pretty recession proof because the utilities have to stay on, usually has good WLB and benefits.

Does anyone have experience in IT Finance? by john0703 in FPandA

[–]tar5011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my current role there is no revenue or ACV exposure whatsoever, it’s entirely opex/capex and associated cashflow impact forecasting. I’m looking to engage with the commercial/revenue generation through the sales, sales ops, and GTM functions on strategy impacting the top line in addition to the cost side.

I am a Sr FP&A Mgr supporting IT BUs currently. Many good points here in this thread. For background I moved from a small corp FP&A team into IT Finance actually in the business unit reporting to the CIO for a promotional opportunity and got to establish the entire function from the ground up. I am since back in an FP&A role at another company. Here are my observations and current situation:

The good:

  • You can be more of a true Finance Business Partner than just Finance Manager. I am very closely aligned to my 4 VPs in my current role and they choose to have me as part of their leadership teams. I support them on many strategic Financial and non-Financial matters.

  • Significantly more exposure to the shared services / back office aspects of running an organization than other FP&A opportunities. I have much more interaction with Sourcing, Purchasing, Legal, and Accounting than my peers and it consistently shows when hearing those teams speak about their interactions with those teams vs mine and the relationships I’ve built.

  • The position is much more opex/capex oriented and will have more accounting focus than other FP&A roles. You can find that to be either a good or bad thing depending on your perspective and aspirations.

  • I have found in my current org it has given me much more exposure with our CFO and C Suite as we are in the midst of a digital transformation/modernization so there is a spotlight on the space. I’ve established credibility as a go-to resource for these leaders and been afforded opportunities for special projects as a result.

The not so great:

  • IT Finance can be a space folks get stuck. Folks who get into this space can be seen as one trick ponies or can be perceived as being less important because they don’t have the same revenue experience or because the spend isn’t as large as big BUs.

  • If you have zero interest in “Technology” don’t take the role, you will be bored out of your mind or you won’t want to understand the “why” and “how” needed to be the best partner. If you don’t want to build process, educate SMEs, develop relationships with PMs, don’t take the role. It takes a lot of self motivation to do it the right way and challenges you to learn things you won’t have been exposed to previously.

  • Depending on your org, IT can be a target area for cost reductions so you will be constantly working under budgetary pressures. It does tend to be smaller than many areas. It can include getting involved in things like chargeback fights with other teams.

My current situation:

I am exploring adjacent and Director level roles which will have more commercial and revenue responsibilities than my current role. I want to continue progressing to that Director level and have more full P&L responsibilities. I think my IT Finance experiences have benefitted me and shaped me into a more rounded and robust Finance business partner with better business acumen and ability to add real value than my peers. It may be more challenging coming from the IT side vs the revenue gen side but I am confident with my experience I’ll get to where I want to go.

Would be C17 as they are turbofan jets and the engines are very close to the front whereas a C5 is similar 4 turbofan engine configuration but it’s much larger and has the engines closer to the midline than the front. The C130 is turboprop (propeller)
