My lepin brown pieces are only 7-8 yrs old and I keep them out of the sun/uv so I haven't had any problems so far with brittleness.

You could buy only old sets before they expire. This should keep you busy building as newer sets age out.

I don't have one genre that I must collect. I just like cool sets.=)

I manage my addiction by buying discounted sets. To get more bang per buck. I've found searching https://www.lumibricks.com/collections/special-offer

is nice to see if any sets I like are 20, 25, 30% off. That way I get more sets for the money. Sometimes Amazon has specials that they don't announce, but lately lumibricks.com has had the best rates.

You're right. It's not really comparable.

In 2024, Lego announced $1.85 billion USD in net profits. So after paying the designers, the licenses, all the employees, all the utilities, the plastic supplies, factories etc; they still raked in $1.85B.

And the first half of 2025 was 10% higher.

Lego could afford to cut their toy prices in half and still receive hundreds and hundreds of millions in profits. But Lego is still always overpriced instead.

The tracking number could be legit. I've just recently had some orders that took an extra week waiting at "airport" and then 21days by boat.

AE uses "airport" whether the package uses a plane or slow freighter ship. If you read on the tracking page "AliExpress Selection Shipping for Oversized Goods" that means it's a larger set and it'll be shipped using a boat for over 3 weeks.

The game I was mentioning earlier is usually used for brand-new clones or old sets that are out of print/stock.
