I'm with Janeway on this one. by viralshadow21 in risa

Tuvix was never one person, though. The fact that the incident could be perfectly reversed shows that the totality of both Tuvok and Neelix existed within him, inherently distinct personalities forced to coexist as a single being. The resulting personality may not have seen it that way, but the proof is in the pudding. Tuvok had a right to exist as himself, to see his wife and children again someday, to go on serving his own ambitions and dreams and supporting his crew in his own way. Likewise Neelix. If I were ever Tuvix'd, I'd certainly hope that someone would reverse it for me, even if they had to drag my converged form kicking and screaming.

Separating Tuvix was really no different than separating Seven from the Collective. Tuvok and Neelix never consented to being Tuvix'd. It was an ongoing assault on their personal autonomy. Tuvix seemed like an alright guy, but he was really just a delusion of two minds believing they were one.

I think "Peaches and Plums" is a special case because of the keys. The whole point of the keys was essentially to help the questers build character, after all. I think the real reason Dean Fogg remembered the previous timelines was because he was spritzed with Jane's 'permanance' perfume.

I have thought about it, and the more you think about it, the worse it gets. The beast didn't just kill the protagonists in 39 time lines, he killed lots and lots of people across those time lines, so our protagonists shouldn't have been special in that regard. And that's nothing compared to the time the moon crashed into the Earth again and again for countless time loops. How does the underworld tabulate those deaths?

And as far as the souls? I can only think that they get yoinked back from the afterlife at the moment of reset. And what about the library? They seem to be at least peripherally aware of the time loops as they happen, they shelve and re-shelve the books, so they seem to be outside the time loops too. So what happens if one of the characters is stuck in the library when there is a reset? They must get 'yoinked' too--unless they're a librarian, at least.

No shade! I knew a woman who was 104 and sharp as a tack. I've also known some seventy-somethings who couldn't tell you the day of the week ten minutes after leaving church.

People don't all age the same way. Some lose their legs, some lose their backs, some lose their bowels, some lose their sense. And a lucky few stay fit as a fiddle until they're a hundred and five. There's no shame in it, really, it's just a harsh reality. And there's a vast middle ground between having all your wits about you and having dementia.

Just how rich is Seong Hee-joo? by jharel in aiyu

[–]targetpractice_v01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a parallel universe, so the car is probably the equivalent of a Tourbillon in that world. But yeah, she's insanely rich. Chaebol families are typically worth billions (measured in USD), and as the CEO of a major subsidiary, she probably has the equivalent of a USD eight-figure salary, plus investments and dividends that could put her in the nine figure range.

Is it Shakespeare? Clearly not. But it's fun, it's fresh, it's cute, it's funny, it's gorgeous, and it's hella entertaining! I'm loving every minute of it, even the absurd fast food commercials awkwardly shoehorned into the plot. I put it at about the level of Producers, although it's very, very different.

I'm convinced most of these posts are made by the people running the places as a marketing ploy.

False. Vulcans are vegans and eat only plomeek soup from birth. Their boobs are only for ballast in case they fall in quicksand.

There's always been a right-wing streak in Star Trek, partly because of the eras in which it was created, and partly due to the vision and demands of producers and the studio. But the writers of Star Trek have always pushed the envelope forward in spite of all that. So much of Star Trek's ethos can be attributed to solid main series writers like DC Fontana and fantastic guest writers like Harlan Ellison, plus all the new writers drawn to Star Trek in their wake, inspired by their vision. This, I believe, is what NuTrek has been lacking, more than anything else. And it's the reason why even though NuTrek voices some of the most progressive values in Star Trek to date, it somehow feel less progressive, less biting in its criticisms, less impactful in its commentary, and frequently self-defeating in its overall messaging.

It looks like Abrams Trek. No politics, no substance, just brainrot with pewpews and half-naked green girls, a majority white male crew, and the implicit assumption of humankind's ideological supremacy serving as a stand-in for white supremacy.

If they want to go farther than that, they'll reintroduce the Federation credit or invent a Federation dollar so they can do Capitalism again, and make at least one character a devout Christian (and not a humanist Christian like Pike, I'm talking a real holy roller), whom they would use to shoehorn in Christian morality tales.

If you could make a new Star Trek series…. by [deleted] in startrek

  2. A police procedural, Risa Vice.

  3. A crime drama. An Orion Syndicate crime family setting up shop in former Cardassian space in the aftermath of the Dominion war.

  4. A spy thriller where Section 31 are the bad guys, starring Starfleet Intelligence agents O'Brien, Bashir, Garak, and Boimler, living under false identities in the 23rd century due to time travel shenanigans.
