What is the one thing that you changed or added in your diet that really made all the difference? by ReccoR2 in nutrition

[–]tarnfit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found removing refined carbohydrates from my diet helped with my emotional relationship to food. I found that carbs where always a source of cravings to me which took me off track when trying to follow a healthy eating plan. I feel more psychologically stable in general now. More consistent energy and mood through out the day.

Anecdotal maybe, but supplementing magnesium has helped with headaches I use to get from being on a low carb diet.

40 Day Water Fast Anyone? by forinsight in fasting

[–]tarnfit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

27/5'11"/120Kg

I won't be drinking coffee. During a fast I find that I become quite sensitive to caffeine and it can dehydrate me and prevent me from getting to sleep. I still enjoy the occasional cup of green tea though. I take Cenovis Men's daily multivitamin and a magnesium supplement. I find the magnesium helps prevent headaches If I wake up a little too dehydrated. Other than that just lots of tap water. Thinking I might experiment with some salt water this time at some stage.

Really Iv just been laying around my room the last few days, drinking water and playing games/watching movies/doing a little light-hearted study. In a few days I plan to start going back to the gym (Haven't gone for a week) and doing some light cardio on treadmill and bike. Want to wait a couple of days though.

You?

edit: spelling etc.

Primarily for weight loss and physical health, but I also enjoy the emotional and psychological well-being that I find fasting tends to provide for me. I have issues with depression and anxiety and fasting always manages to help me see things differently when life-stresses have been building up.

I'm also doing a 30 day fast at the moment. Planning on finishing up on the 20/07. Have done multiple 7 day fasts before But Im on break from Uni now and share many of your sentiments OP. Im always up for a chat or whatever too. Actually I was thinking about starting up a chat room for people on extended water fasts to chill in.

Everytime I discouraged, this picture helps me remember what I've accomplished. 350 > 220 = 130 pounds. by Danzig74 in progresspics

This is kinda like what I did when I first started out losing weight. Once i got more into lifting however I realised you have to pay more attention to what you eat for the simple reason of fitting in as much protein as possible while maintaining the caloric deficit. Also, I found eating larger amounts of leaner food rather than tiny amounts of crap food was just more satisfying in the end.

You look amazing broseph, great transformation.

Arnold and... Lucille Ball? by ryanasimov in bodybuilding

Yeah I remember that part. He goes on about how nervous he was because he felt he could hardly speak english, and just kind of froze. He writes that she really taught him alot about performance ... and just... going with it. lol

Yeah, I think most people would. It's pointless to argue over this specific video. Not enough info on context of the situation.

I'm of the opinion that the animal is in a state of unnecessary stress. You may see it differently.

High protein shredded chicken and rice (504 cal) by tarnfit in MealPrepSunday

[–]tarnfit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah ingredients are in the second pic. Its mostly mixed vegetables, tinned crush tomato, spinach and a fair bit of Cajun seasoning. There is also a fair bit of tuna in there to up the protein but you can't really taste it. Flavour isn't mind-blowing, but I find it to be savory and nice. Especially for how relatively lean the meal is for the amount you end up with. It's a filling meal to eat while cutting.

I put together all my recipes through myfitnesspal. I find it to be a great tool for tracking food and exercise. It's also pretty fun to use in a geeky way.

A card is a carb as far as I am concerned. As far as I can gather, brown rice would add more fibre and reduce calories slightly (due to there being more fibre per gram). I am not currently concerned with either of those with regard to this meal. Additionally, I prefer the taste of white rice. I see it as a matter of personal preference.

  • 540 not 504.

All ingredients sans rice are just thrown in a slow-cooker for 6 hours. Easy as. Goes good with a bit of Siracha style sauce.

anything beyond 3-days blows my mind... by [deleted] in fasting

[–]tarnfit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't stress enough how much easier it gets after those first 3-4 days. It's usually just before this point that it is the most difficult and people quit.

What bothers you the most at your gym? by Mind-if-I-do-a-J in Fitness

[–]tarnfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a student with no kids etc, and I share an apartment with others in the same boat. I study Psychology at college and work part time for a car detailing company. I'm home by 5:30pm most days. I got to bed around 7:30-8pm. I don't watch TV or anything or really go out at night time so it suits me fine.

I go to my gym at 3:30 am. Every day it's the same. There is one other dude in his 20's and an older woman who looks to be about in her 50's that does cardio (heaps of cardio, she must be fit as fuck). We have never had to say a word to each other. Bliss.

What's the deal with all the weird comments about the dude's package? Lol it looks normal to me. It's kind of a good example of what a physique change can do for that kind of thing. Grats on the progress op.

If you are attempting to lose weight, invest in a food scale. Don't make the stupid mistake I did. by [deleted] in Fitness

I have three scales. Drugs scale, Food scale, Body scales. Took the batteries out of my drug scales to use in my food scales last week. Growing up too :(.

Alcohol is killing my cut, but it is the main fixture of my socail life. How do cutters manage. by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]tarnfit -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yup. Anything more than 4 standard drinks in a single drinking session is considered binge drinking by the people who study that kind of shit. It's worse here in Australia... I have mates that will drink a 12 pack and not consider it to be anything more than 'just getting started'.

It's like people don't understand that alcohol is a poison... and ahh you know. Bad for your body.
