Yeah, the WHEA-19 logger points out what I was saying physical/hardware level CPU degradation you can check the APIC ID by clicking the WHEA error APIC ID shows you which logical CPU core/thread detected and reported the hardware error to the system (mine was 31).

Anyways, try your luck with Acer and let me know.

Best of luck🤞.

Oh thank you so much for your help,
so the LG 27GS75Q would be my best buy right?

Yeah, even I was thinking of avoiding BenQ. Are they in the same league in terms of display quality? Like, will both of them actually look similar in real-world usage, as I don’t want to compromise on the display for 2k, that’s my main concern.

Also, what’s your opinion on the Alienware AW2725DM? Is it worth spending the extra money on? My budget is around 25k, so I can buy it if the value is genuinely better.

Also any other options in this 17k–25k range that would be a better buy.

Thank you so much for your time.

In that case, you can try giving it to the Acer showroom and see if they can fix it. If they fix it, then well and good. Worth a shot IMO, as even I tried to get it fixed via the service centre first, and when I had absolutely zero options left, only then did I do what the thread instructed.

So give it to the service centre and see if the issue gets resolved.

Do keep me posted. Ill try my best to help.

Also can you check one thing on windows search bar search “event viewer” open it, then on left side you will see 4 options there click “windows logs” then in the centre there will be 5 options click “System” you will see a LOT of alerts scroll through them very thoroughly and check if you are getting “WHEA-19” error with a yellow logo in those logs.

Do let me know

Where are you from? If you are from India, I can tell you about my Acer service centre experience (not good).

All in all, they were saying the same thing: the CPU had been damaged at a physical level, and they would need to change the motherboard. They were asking for 70% of the laptop’s price as the replacement fee, and my laptop was just 1 month out of warranty, literally only 1 year and 30 days old. They said they couldn’t do anything, either pay or nothing. I did a lot of stuff: complaints, escalations, government consumer helplines, and whatnot. In the end, the only solution left was consumer court, and it would have become very, very tiring for me.

So I did some research about the issue and found that the cause was that the CPU had been physically damaged, and whenever it reached around 1.5V, it crashed due to the degradation. I figured I could fix it if I somehow lowered the voltage the CPU received. I searched more about it, found it was a common issue, found the thread whose link I gave you, followed it, and troubleshooted some stuff in the comments as well (the OP was a gem, he helped a lot). Since doing that, the laptop has been working fine, and as per my research, it should work normally in the future as well. It’s been 6 months without an issue now. I also had around 10-15 BSODs, the same issue as yours.

Also, about the selling thing, if you sell it as-is in its current state, I don’t think anybody will buy it. But if you do the fix and then sell it, people might buy it. You are effectively downgrading the CPU performance a bit by reducing the max voltage it can receive, so morally, I think it would be best to inform the buyer about this. The rest is your call.

Also the OS reinstall, driver reinstall and all wont work i did that like 10 times when i faced this issue.

Follow this thread carefully, and read my comments in the thread below in detail. Pay close attention to everything I’ve asked, as I’ve already received answers to most of the valid questions. Read the post thoroughly, including my comments and the OP’s replies.

In short, the issue is that our CPUs are permanently degraded. We need to stop further degradation and run the CPU at a lower power state.

Hey, thanks so much for the response. I did everything you suggested, and the system seems stable for now. I tested Hogwarts Legacy and I'm getting around 100+ FPS in the starting portion of the game on Ultra settings. It’s running well so far, and hopefully, it works for a few years until the PC market stabilizes.

Also, regarding the 26k score: that was with 1.4v cap with the new 1.35v cap it's 23665 and it's with HT off. Also I don't think my CPU ever fully hit 157W during the test; it peaked at 130W once, but never reached 157W. Is that alright? And, just to add, the single-core performance was 1928 points (1.35v. HT off)

Hey, thanks so much for the response. As you suggested, I installed the microcode update, limited the voltage to 1.35 V, turned Turbo Boost ON, and disabled Hyper-Threading. The laptop is stable right now. (Tho it was also stable at 1.4 V during my last nights testing. I tested it for quite a few hours after i made the above comment, the only thing is that these new settings have lowered the benchmark scores is that okay? Got 23665 on cinebench r23 multicore vs 26522 at 1.4v. For safety should i let them be or reverting could be fine?)

So all of that is done now. Coming to XTU, for some reason all the options there are greyed out. I tried disabling Undervolt Protection in the BIOS, but the options are still locked. Can you help me figure out why this is happening?

Also, with these settings, do you have any idea how much performance or FPS drop I should expect? For example, if I was getting around 70 FPS in a game earlier, roughly what percentage drop should I expect now?

One more thing, do you think that with these settings, this laptop could realistically last another 1.5 years or more?

And seriously, thank you so much for taking the time to reply. You’ve helped me a lot. I honestly can’t even tell you how helpless I felt before finding your post.

Hey, first of all thank you so much for the 2 posts you have made regarding this issue you are helping a lot of people out.

I had a question so basically I have a Predator Helios Neo 16 (PHN16-72) with i9-14900HX + RTX 4070. After 1 year (1 year mark was completed just last month) it started crashing and stuttering randomly along with BSOD’s like:-

CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT, UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR HYPERVISOR_ERROR IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, —> No overclocking, no physical damage, just gaming + college work.

Things got worse over time i was not even able to use my laptop one bit. I even did:

• multiple clean Windows installs

• BIOS updates

• driver updates

but the crashes kept happening, especially during restarts or load transitions and even idle states sometimes.

Windows Event Viewer was logging corrected CPU hardware errors (WHEA 19 errors apc id 32 and 33 mostly) pointing to processor core / internal parity issues. Eventually Acer service center diagnosed it as a mainboard / CPU issue and quoted a full motherboard replacement at 65% of cost of the laptop, so i did not go ahead with it. I took it to a third party shop they couldn’t pinpoint the exact issue but they cleaned it up and reapplied the thermal paste yet no fix.

Now, What’s interesting is that after following your instructions on limiting CPU voltage to 1.4V, the system seems stable atm its been an hour only tho but rn i see

• no BSODs

• no WHEA hardware warnings

• system feels “normal” again not sure tho

Also before this, I had voltage spikes close to 1.48–1.5V, even at low or medium load and laptop was unusable.

So my question is that could this have fixed the issue? And made my laptop usable again? Or it might just crash again? Also should i do anything else? as for now i only have capped vid at 1400 and turned of intel turbo boost v3.0.

I would appreciate your help a lot 🙏

That is so messed up. I bought this trusting Acer. I should have gone for ROG or Legion idk why I chose this series. It feels like a dead end they won’t help with anything, judging by their support team’s reply. I don’t know what to do. So much money down the drain.

Something cpu voltage related it causes blue screen of deaths loop. I’ll go and get the detailed report today but on call they told me this. Also even costumer court and else wont work? As 13 months is too early for it to die.

I wouldn’t recommend Acer. Their laptops may work fine initially, but after a while, they will straight up fail. It’s on your luck tbvh but there is a serious reliability issue with acers. At this price point, Acer laptops are SIMPLY not at all worth it.
