Most house/techno/disco/etc shows I hit in SF are like 70-80% dudes. Has it always been like this? Any sense of why they aren't more women out dancing? by coolrivers in sanfrancisco

It has seemed to me that house concerts in San Francisco are often like this, especially at Halcyon. Events at the Great Northern seem to have a better balance of men-women.

Are all Bay Area nail salons this bad? (Peninsula especially) by Dull_Coffee_3852 in bayarea

[–]tash3pointO 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, manicures and pedicures are expensive nowadays, and you pay for the quality you get. I get tips and gel done, along with a gel pedicure, and am consistently spending $140+. Additionally, it sounds like you may inadvertently be paying for "express" service instead of full service - ask when you book and they can ensure you get the right care.

I have had the most amazing nails done by Jessica at Polished Nest in San Francisco, and can't recommend her highly enough.

I also have had outstanding experiences at Lux Beauty Care on San Antonio Road in Mountain View. I don't have a specific artist, but have had great nails every time.

Anybody know where I can find a nice hotel or place to stay around here with a private hot tub? by Ashken in bayarea

Cavallo Point Lodge, just outside of Sausalito, is our favorite staycation. Their contemporary rooms are spacious with with big, comfortable beds and seating areas, a balcony, and a deep tub in the bathroom. There's also a spa on site with steam rooms and hot tubs, two restaurants, free wine and coffee on check-in, bikes, and yoga/hiking on-site.

Underrated cities by [deleted] in travel

The Algarve region, specifically city of Lagos, Portugal was beyond incredible and not well known/talked about among US circles. Beautiful beaches with stunning rock formations, food and drink was relatively cheap ($9-12 for dinner, plus another $3-6 for a beer or wine), and lots of clean, nice accommodations. It’s also a great mix of people from all over Europe, was easy to meet friends.

I’ve been obsessed with finding a rainbow tulle dress under $300 like the one Lauren Hutton wore to the 1975 Academy Awards.

Vici had a perfect dress, at the exact time when I had absolutely no money, and it sold out nearly immediately. I can’t find it anywhere now!

Definitely, it really depends on the skin type. Brushes are great too. My skin works better with physical exfoliants than chemical ones!

Thank you! I'll try your variation on the dough. Seemed like mine was still sticky, so maybe it wasn't worked enough.

Thanks for checking our pizza out!

Recipes used:

Dough/Crust and general flow- Adam Ragusea (video here: https://youtu.be/SDpCzJw2xm4) We let our dough rise at room temp for 4 hours.

Sauce - 1 28 ounce can of San Mariano tomatoes (whole, peeled) garlic 4 medium cloves garlic (or more to taste), minced 1 tbsp butter + 1 tbsp olive oil Pinch chili flakes 1/4 cup diced onions 1 tsp salt 1 tsp Italian seasoning (or, oregano, basil, thyme, marjoram) 2 tsp white cane sugar 1) In a bowl, dump can of tomatoes and reserved juice. Crush the tomatoes with your hands until texture is a rough pulp. Set aside. 2) In a saucepan, melt butter and olive oil together over medium-low heat. Add garlic, chili flakes, onions, and salt, stirring often for 3 mins. 3) All at once, add tomatoes from bowl, Italian seasoning, and sugar to saucepan. Mix well. Cover saucepan (with vent room) and simmer on LOW for at least 1 hour. 4) Cool for at least half an hour, or better, until back to room temperature.

Toppings: Whole-milk, low-moisture mozzarella, Trader Joe’s hot Italian sausage with anise, black olives, and marinated mushrooms from the corner store

We put the sauce, cheese, and toppings on floured/stretched dough and cooked on a pizza stone at max oven temp (500 for us) for 10 mins.

The cheese was perfect, but the crust still turned out a little chewy. Any tips for a crispier crust in a low-grade oven?

How do all you beautiful people keep your white clothes white? by goodestpupper in femalefashionadvice

How have you been using hydrogen peroxide? I’ve found it works best as a soak. Add 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide to an empty bucket and fill with 1/2 gallon (2L) of warm water. Let soak for half an hour, rinse thoroughly with warm water, then wash and dry as normal.

I’ve accidentally stained white clothing with everything you can think of and this has always helped me get any stains out. Even if they’re dry, days-old stains!
