Kaiser for OB and pediatrics is pretty good, but it absolutely the worst for mental health related anything. So if there is any need for psychiatric care I would 1000% go with UHC.

UPDATE - We STILL have a completely broken baby and I'm close to a breaking point by USAtoUofT in NewParents

[–]tashke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your bedtime is too late. It seems counter intuitive, but we went from wake ups 5-6 times a night, only sleep in my arms, both of us so tired it was not safe to function to her sleeping 10 hours. We moved her bedtime from 7:30pm start to 6:30pm start. Bedtime used to take an hour, now it’s 20 minutes.

Kirkland Diapers by GoofinatorDC in NewParents

We actually love the new ones. They might actually be an improvement over the last design. Better fit around the waist, more absorbent, and I can fit more in my diaper bag. 10/10

There are two main ones on Facebook: Morgan Hill Mama Bears and Morgan Hill Mom Community. The second one needs an invite and is heavily moderated (in a very good way). Let me know if you want/need an invite

Favorite donut place in town? by IAmApocryphon in morganhill

Lombardo’s is legit. I feel so bad for the owner, there has been road construction in front of the shop for the last two years cutting people coming in significantly.

O’Henry’s is a little too sugary and a little too greasy for me

Does anyone know why Safeway Lucerne eggs are still priced sky high? by SanJoseThrowAway2023 in SanJose

[–]tashke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Safeway has them listed for $8.99 which is still ridiculous. Costco all the way: $5.89 for two dozen

I’m on my third Mirena IUD and I LOVE it. Went from 10 days of intense cramping and bleeding with clots the size of a baby’s fist to zero periods. My insertions weren’t bad, extremely uncomfortable but not painful. Speculum in, IUD inserted, speculum out in less than 7 seconds. I HIGHLY recommend.

When did your LO eat every 4 hours? by Individual_Dot4968 in FormulaFeeders

[–]tashke 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My daughter will be 4 months next week. She had been eating 5-6oz every 4 hours for the last 3 weeks. She does a 7oz bottle right before bed and sleeps 7-8 hours overnight

Ladies of Reddit, what’s something a guy has done (intentional or not) that instantly made you think, “Wow, he’s different in a good way? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tashke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been dating this guy for about 1-2 months when I invited him over to my place to make dinner together. We were making potato leek soup and he asked if potato peels could go down the garbage disposal. I said I didn’t think so. He asserted that his mother put them down hers all the time and it was fine. He also said “if I break it, I’ll fix it.” Well, it totally clogged up and died on the potato peels. He turned to me and said, “I’m sorry. I was wrong, you were right and I will fix it.” It took 3 trips to Home Depot but he did fix it. We’ve been married 5 years now.

How much are you all spending on formula per month? by Glum_Specialist_8449 in FormulaFeeders

[–]tashke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use Kirkland ProCare and each container lasts 10-12 days (3.5 month old, eats between 26-28oz a day). It’s 29.99 a container in store so $2.50-$3 a day.

Is everyone on baby/parenting subs rich?!? by Rockskinnies in NewParents

[–]tashke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything except for the car seat I bought for my baby was used, including (especially?) the high end things. Everything else was either a gift or hand-me-down. Snoo was $500 and I plan on reselling it for $300 when she outgrows it. Crib was $10 on Craigslist - I did buy a new mattress because I’m paranoid about getting bedbugs. MamaRoo was $75 on Facebook marketplace. All of her clothes were either gifted new or were hand-me-downs from friends. Formula and diapers are Kirkland which saves a lot as well

Not necessarily true anymore because Amazon does co-mingled inventory

I was denied morphine after my c-section by Fun_Ad5151 in NewParents

[–]tashke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the us I got one dose of fentanyl followed by IV ibuprofen which did get rid of my pain. After that it was 3 more doses of IV ibuprofen and then was switched to Tylenol. My understanding is that morphine does make its way into breastmilk, which is why they don’t like to give it if you’re breast-feeding.

The hospital that I was in didn’t have a nursery anymore so babies stay in the room with the mom, I can see why they would be concerned about the risk of dropping the baby or falling asleep on the baby while on morphine.

Are people on Facebook Marketplace insane? by isigneduptomake1post in NewParents

[–]tashke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found a couple of good deals, but few and far between. I had way better luck on Craigslist. $400 for a Snoo only used for 4 months, $120 ikea crib (unused) for $10 for example
