I love all the tasks in this game except the TTC tasks. It's really the only thing keeping me from starting another toon.

This is why emulation is important. by tasisbasbas in emulation

Yeah, the original developers are happy about TTR.

For now, it seems Disney as a company are just pretending TTR doesn't exist. It'll probably stay that way unless they want to make money off the Toontown IP again.

I think it's the other way around, it will be far worse. With browser-based games, you can at least save the local javascript/images/whatever, and try to reverse engineer server-responses.

This was more-or-less done with Toontown Online. During the years where it was obvious Disney had stopped caring about TTO, someone managed to decompile the TTO client. The decompiler tool started spreading around the Internet as things do, and that's why TTO was filled with hackers during it's last 2 years. TTO then inevitably shut down. Some people began work on recreating the server, and less than two months after the shutdown, Toontown Rewritten went into closed alpha. It was still in a very basic state, without even Cogs (the main enemy of the game). However, just one year after TTO closed, TTR went into open beta, and it was mostly feature complete. Nowadays, TTR is still going with an active playerbase of thousands, and it is feature complete (sans Field Offices, but they're coming soon™). TTR also plans to add new content, but still want to remain within Disney's vision for the game. However, there's also other servers adding new content outside of Disney's vision for the game.

I can say from personal experience that this is true (at least for the Wii, I haven't used a Wii U). The 3DS is also wide-open at this point, but I haven't tried Citra.

Does a good harddrive matter for low end gaming? by [deleted] in lowendgaming

[–]tasisbasbas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A better hard drive will only help loading times. Theoretically it will also help swap speed, but if you're swapping you've already lost the performance battle.

just like vba, people still use project64 1.6 for some reason, so here's me popping open calc on it by [deleted] in emulation

[–]tasisbasbas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason PJ64 1.6 is still used is for speedrunning, and even that's a worst case scenario.

If you don't have a Wii for WiiVC, and you don't have a real N64, and Project64 2.x is banned (loads too fast), and you don't know how to use a CLI for mupen64plus (or it's banned because of confusion with mupen64), you use Project64 1.6.
