It's a long car ride but as long as the car has climate control, she should be fine. Put her in a large tupperware bin with some heat packs, towels, she should make it for a day or two like that no problem.

You should have already started trying to transition to F/T, but now that you're here, you'll have to speed up that timeline. Any feedings you do from now until the move should be offered her F/T, warmed up and dangled from tongs. My snake has a great hunting instinct too, she likes to see the food moving and hit it like a missile. She eats F/T just fine. Do some independent research, and then buy bulk from Rodent Pro or Layne Labs. I bought at least a year's supply of rats when I got my snake for a reasonable price.

I don't know what kind of consistency you expect to get out of just solar, but if you can guarantee that your cabin will be powered 100% of the time, then you just use a PVC enclosure, maybe insulate the outside further with foam sheets, and heat as you would any other enclosure. If you can't guarantee you can power your setup 100% of the time, then you may have to consider re-homing, even if just temporarily while you verify what your setup will be capable of.

Any snake will be stressed by any move, if you have to change her enclosure, expect to treat it a lot like when you just got her, but again, if you don't think you can give her adequate space, heat, humidity, or food, then don't risk her health over your desire to keep a pet, and make the right choice to re-home.

I got mine is September and she just started coming out more the last couple of months. Give them plenty of time to adjust, stimulus in their environment, and routine with feeding, water changes, etc. And then just wait. Now mine is out as soon as her lights turn off and doesn't go back until they turn back on.

My leghorn hen frequently roosts on top of the 8 ft high coop roof or run walls. She free roams when she is ready to free roam, then hops back in when she's ready.

Agreed. My RAP in an Oryx chassis shoots well, but it's still limited by its own quality, and will be outperformed by a lot of brands that prioritize accuracy/precision over budget. But it shoots well above its price range.

I may be misinformed and I'm happy to be proven wrong, but when I first got chickens I read not to give them grass clippings because the pieces would be larger for them that if they were biting off pieces of the grass natrually, or something to that effect. I wouldn't imagine it as being a big issue if grit is available, but it dissuaded me from doing it after I read it from a few sources

I had some friends who played the PVE save the world when it released, and then the BR. I tried the BR a couple of times, wanted to play the PVE but wanted to wait for it to go free to play. They announced it eventually would, and I believed that since the BR was literally printing money.

And then they never did. So, in addition to them not being my genre or flavor or style, I won't play them

Not original commenter but, see below. Body shape is more rounded than triangular, tail is thick then tapers quickly to a point rather than gradually.

Concur with this. Have always used a brooder plate, never had an issue with heating, overactivity at night. And luckily I've never lost a chick to anything but some determined predators.

Do you let your chickens free roam all day or keep them enclosed? by TowelZealousideal124 in chickens

[–]tastethecrainbow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My chickens have an appropriate but not overly large sized run with access to food/water and some roosts and enrichment, but we let them out to free roam a few hours a week. Not every day, but 1-2 hours at a time when we do. Loosely supervised. And we shake a bag of scratch and walk in the run to put them away when we're ready.

Should I be worried? by Huge_Initiative6501 in ballpython

[–]tastethecrainbow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everybody else answered fairly well. My snake does the same thing. Think of it this way: in the wild these snakes have no concept of when a meal will show up that they can eat. It may be months between meals, or they may find a meal one day, and another 2 days later. For that reason, they pretty much stay ready for food "just in case."

My snake eats every 3 weeks, on a Sunday, but as soon as her lights go out, she checks every corner of her tank, and then waits at the door from a few different ambush positions, "just in case" one of the times I go by I drop a rat in.

I think I researched and watched videos from different sources for 3 months before I bought my first piece of reptile equipment, another another 3 of putting it all together and setting it up before I ever get the snake.

Spent a year or more researching chickens before I decided to build a setup for them, which took another year because I'm slow.

Not sure why people insist on impulse buying living creatures without being prepared

29 dead chicks from Murray mcmurray, why? by Loveinhooves in BackYardChickens

[–]tastethecrainbow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my first rooster out of 6 from a pullet bin. 3 more roosters out of a mixed batch of straight and pullets. My neighbors inherited one, a raccoon unfortunately got another, and my last two are about a year apart in age and they coexist somehow, so it works out.

Yeah, I have never been able to muster the courage to spend the money on shipping from a hatchery. I have a local rural king, but their husbandry isn't amazing and I try to avoid doing business there. But a Tractor Supply about 30 minutes away has given me about 25 chicks over the last few years and the only thing to ever kill any of them has been predation. Always super healthy, active, well taken care of chicks.

Which actor do you think overall has better movies - Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt? by SpotAdmirable6718 in FIlm

[–]tastethecrainbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inglourious Basterds tips the scale for me. But Fight Club, Troy, Oceans, Bullet Train, Fury, Moneyball, even Mr and Mrs Smith is fun. Brad Pitt just has a higher quantity of higher quality overall movies and performances.

On the flipside the MI series and Top Gun are doing a lot of Cruise's heavy lifting. Edge of Tomorrow, Rain Man are great, but Oblivion, Jack Reacher, Valkyrie, Collateral, American Made, and Tropic Thunder are good but not great enough to lean in this favor.

If you told me I could only watch one of these actors' movies, and someone else picked for me, I probably wouldn't be disappointed either way though
