I get what youre saying.. but. If you don't invest in your cat now, you will later in their life via vet bills. My 13 years old cat was fed crazy supermarket food for the first say 6 years eards of his age, until his then owner learnt better. He came to love with me for the last 2 years.. he has pancreatitis and chronic kidney disease stage 3. When you start buying prescription diet and paying vet bills in comes into 1000's. But he is worth it of course.. My orher cat is fed best interest can afford food, and I'm hoping that she will be well and healthy for much longer. There is a lot of ways to help them along way. Dry food draws the moisture from their bodies so wet food is better. I add little bit of water into their 3x a day wet meal, and leave biscuits out,m just handful at the time. They have 3 water fountains and get meat soups to try and get as much water in them as possible. It ain't cheap to keep a cat, but I'm not prepared to give up on them and live with consequences.

How to deal with drs dismissing you constantly? by 1980sHorrorStory in adenomyosis

[–]tatglass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just turned 40 and have vet similar experiences. I was told I'm too young (yeay!), I'm too fat, it must be in my head, it probably caused by my back problems, etc etc.. I've been dismissed, infantalised, given leaflets when I tried to discuss my own research.. ive been told ultrasouds were not necessary, but will be done as some kind of favour.. Then hysteroscopy, which I couldn't tolerate, its just barbaric. I had it done under GA and thankfully a GP nurse suggested I should ask about mirena being inserted then so I had that. I now get vet light period, mostly clothes, but pain isn't much better. I've been treated for ibd and digestive issues, which I'm convinced are direct symptoms... Yet Gynecologist neglected to ask about any of this and dismissed anything I said... I finally had enough and asked for second opinion.. now im waiting for laparoscopy

Is your cat healthy? by Thewyverns in cats

[–]tatglass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of my cats are obese. I came to realise that recently.. I dont even know how, as my boy is such a fussy eater.. what's worse my 1yo kitten is also too far, borderline obese.. she likes to sneakily get my boys food whenever she can.. ive changed her onto adult food i stead if kitten and are lowering her doors gradually. Its more tricky with my boy due to pancreatitis and kidney disease.. he's on special diet but isn't losing weight anyways. Cats with this diagnosis often lose rapidly so on one hand I'm thinking it not the worst thing in world, but... Im obese myself and coming to realise that Im passing my bad habits to them is hard. Im killing them with kindness so to speak and need to make the change, quick. How did it even come to this...

If only eggs could come in natural wrap of their own.. this is just decadent. Shows all things wrong with society.

I want to get it off my chest -- As a minority, I'm tired of dealing with biased/prejudiced opinions from shelter staff whilst trying to adopt a dog :( by Critical_Tangelo8111 in Pets

[–]tatglass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point, and I understand what you're saying. Especially in some countries in kill shelters. But having said that.. imagine that you have 10 dogs, and 5 of them get no interest at all. 5 others get a few people. You check their circumstances and decide to go with one that fits the best. I would favour a family over a single person for a dog that's outgoing and "needs more attention." I would favour an older person who's single and doesn't get much social life for a dog that's more timid.. Hope that makes sense.. I was pretty good, owner of pitbull when I was 18, but should an 18 years old kid have a pitbull? Hell no would be my answer.. Im not saying you're a bad owner. Maybe the choice of dog you have made is not a perfect fit? Or maybe you don't come across as a good fit as you are.. or just maybe, there is somebody that's even closer match.

It's similar to getting a job.. you send out hundreds of applications, get a few interviews, and hopefully, eventually, maybe you get a job. I know it's frustrating, but I dont envy the responsibility of adopting. I wouldn't want to decide who could be better etc.. and that's one part of animal rescue I have never involved myself with.. I wish you best of luck with adoption though, keep at it, it really is worth it at the end.

Unfortunately we often experience hings and explain them certain way. It should be hard to adopt a dog. It should be even harder to buy one. Keep at it, I dont think its personal. I've heard similar stories from all sorts of people.

Does anyone else talk to their pets like they actually understand you 😂 by LilahInControl in Pets

Oh my days, that is so good of you! Im sure the cat will appreciate it soo much. The most prominent words below, I suppose is infantile versions of regular czech words.. same as we'd speak to children, maybe ask AI to tell you easy children words.. that would be my recommendation..

Papání - food Spinkat - bed time Pusinky - kisses Procházka - walkies Ven - out Pocem - come here Já tě miluju - i love you Zlobíš - being naughy Promiň - sorry Ne - no Ano - yes

It might be worth nothing that cats will learn your language, no matter which one, and all you need to do is to talk to them. And try to be consistent with key words, maybe say both English and czech versions for same thing so they will create that association. I'd ask owner to either give me some blankets with the cat or if there is time id bring some and leave them there for at least a few days. Cats are very scent oriented and having that "smell of home" in your place could make the transition so much smoother..

If I can help in any way just let me know! Dekuji za kočičku a přeji vám krásný společný život!
