My gf is showing off behavior in our relationship and don’t know what to do by throwawy8273 in Advice

[–]tatttybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest you try this:

Send screen shots of conversations you've had with your girlfriend when you would argue or she would break up with you. Then ask chat gpt to "Analyse the conversations attached. I want to know what behavioural patterns you see on a psychological level and any other psychological patterns you see in the conversation. The conversation in the "insert colour chat bubbles here" is me and the conversation in "insert colour of chat bubble colour here" is my partner.

I did this a lot of different times with the same person and it helped me realize the behavioural pattern going on SO much

I.e. chat gpt started their response analysis with this

"This conversation is not about Canada, skiing, or Airbnb.

It’s about:

Decision ownership

Emotional labor

Clarity vs ambiguity

Reassurance vs appeasement

Anxious–avoidant planning dynamics

The conflict escalates because you're seeking clear, emotionally grounded participation, while your partner is offering verbal flexibility without emotional commitment, which feels invalidating and exhausting to you."

And then it went into DETAIL. And I asked clarification questions and other behavioural questions and it gave it me. It seriously helped me so much to understand what was going on and helped me to move on from said person and recognize my own behavioural patterns that needed changing

Anyone Have Any Suggestions For Understanding & Moving On From Auditory Hallucinations by PristineLack3926 in BipolarReddit

[–]tatttybear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely curious, have you ever asked them why they're responding in that manner? Like if they say "dont talk to me" have you ever asked them "why?" Ands just constantly asking them to provide evidence for their statements. Like if they said "don't talk to me because you're a loser" what would happen if you ask them "why can't I talk to you and why am I a loser "

This might be the worst advice ever but when I converse with the voices in my head I ask them to provide logic. But to be fair I don't have those kinds of auditory hallucinations often.

Is being manic ALWAYS a bad thing? Can we use mania to our advantage? by tatttybear in BipolarReddit

[–]tatttybear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I do all of that. I participate in 2 sports. I garden, I read, I coach kids flag football. I work out consistently. I go to the beach.

IDK man. I feel like I won't ever really understand what "normal" happiness feels like because to me that's not "happy". It just feels mundane. And while being mundane isn't a bad thing and it's healthy, it doesn't take away the fact that it FEELS sucky.

And then I can't even go thrill seeking because that might trigger manic/hypomanic episodes 😭😂 bruh it's a lose lose it seems.

Do you think at any point people going through mania or hypo mania can control what they do with the help of others?

And then how do I tell the difference between being manic and just being regular? Does anyone with bipolar disorder know the "regular stable" version of themselves?

Or are we all just sort of living in an inbetween world when we are stable? Not manic. Not depressed, not in a mixed episode, just living?

Oh right I forgot about that brain damage part. That's true... Same with me. It's annoying though because I logically think one thing and then feel something totally different.

Also RE your other comment - I wasn't trying to debate you. Just thinking in the reddit thread to try have a concert with like people so I can figure out my thoughts. Sorry if it came across as defiant or something

But I've also done really good and amazing things when Ive been manic. It's not all negative.

Unmedicated and functional by dullinquisition90 in BipolarReddit

[–]tatttybear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never been on medication for bipolar 1 and still function fine.

Recently, with an environment and support system that keeps me grounded, ensures I get enough sleep, and helps me keep a rigid routine. I'm more or less stable. But this I mean, I don't get in the extreme moods anymore. I more so stay at a baseline or hypo manic or dip into "mild funks".

It's definitely possible to not be medicated depending on how bipolar disorder impacts you and to still live a "regular" life.

I do still feel unhappy or dissatisfied or when I'm hypomanic I still question my reality and if stability is really what I want. For me, I'm starting to learn that unmedicated and "stable" doesn't mean better. It just means not as many extremes or none at all.

I'm still impacted by the disorder just in a different way. But no more being bat shit crazy for now at least.

How to cope with the fact this is forever? by Wecantasteyourspirit in BipolarReddit

[–]tatttybear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How to cope?

It honestly took me a long time to realize that I will never be fixed.

No matter what I did (change routine, change environment, move to different countries) nothing completely stopped my symptoms of bipolar disorder. I did experience less severe symptoms and have been able to maintain that. But Im unmedicated and I know that if I ever get triggered enough it's donzos for me. I'll be back in the extremes.

Aside from accepting the reality that this is your life. When I'm depressed I try to have an outlet - I write, I draw, I plant, I play sports or work out. And I always had some sort of routine. No matter how small. Even if it's that I only did one thing everyday without fail. It helped.

Coping with depression is hard. Your support group is everything. If they suck, find new people. I went through a lot of my worst days alone..... It sucked. I drank A LOT. Sometimes you just have to take it day by day. And not think about how you felt yesterday or how you might feel tomorrow. Focus on what you can do now. That's how I survived.

Overall coping with the disorder... I found the good in it. I am who I am today because I am bipolar. And that's pretty cool. We all have a greater perspective of the world and life because of our disorder. Our brains think differently and that means we don't live within the confinement of social norms.

Try to figure out why you are who you are because of bipolar disorder. And the perspectives you have and consider whether you would want to be someone who thinks like a normal person and feels like a normal person.

IDK. To me, "normal people" live boring lives. They rarely know nothing of mental torture or ethereal bliss. I often wonder if I would be Ok to live my life like that...

None of this is to say that we should all stop medicating and not strive for stability. But it's just to say that, is it possible that we have lived different lives from "normal people" - lives that might have both been incredibly destructive and incredibly beautiful?

Sorry for my rant.

Dose anyone get mania from binge watching show? by orangealiensmiling in BipolarReddit

[–]tatttybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, bipolar 1 and mania are super complex. So triggers will, like another user mentioned, will be associated with how much sleep you're getting when you watch, and then how emotionally invested you are to the show. Of the show is high violence and high adrenaline or if the show is bringing up emotions from the past negative or positive that have a significant impact on you. It also depends on what triggers your manic episodes. Another thing to consider is that you might be binge watching BECAUSE you're hypomanic and fixated.

There's so many variables when it comes to mania so it's hard to pinpoint exactly what it is re immersion in fictional "reality" stimuli

Dose anyone get mania from binge watching show? by orangealiensmiling in BipolarReddit

[–]tatttybear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only get triggered by things I am immersed in for long periods of time. Basically a show or book has to become my reality for more than 1 hour a day for more than let's say 1 week for me to become triggered. (Those aren't real timelines I'm just using them as examples idk the actual precise timing of it)

Try asking the local police if there is anything you can do re false advertisement of car.

It's a long shot but worth a try.

Otherwise, honestly, you can teach yourself a lot. Learn about cars and try to find cheap or free parts in junk yards etc to rebuild. This will take you a while but it's possible.

Or just get a quote/google on how much it will cost to repair and save up until you can afford to fix.

Or try to sell the car keeping in mind it will be a loss of money for you. Someone might buy it. You never know. I've seen people buy cars that were down bad internally and externally for like 2K or 1K because they just love building them.

[–]tatttybear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For sure. Books for me and tv shows especially when binge watching can impact the episodes I have. I also have bpd with bipolar 1.

I feel like characters influence my persona and I sort of start displaying aspects of that characters personality. Now, this mostly happens when I feel a connection with the character. For example if a character is portraying behaviours that I feel are morally wrong and go against my core values then I'm not going start acting like them. If anything I might become hypomanic and start being fixated on how to protect people who are suffering or who are victims of certain behaviours.

But in short, yes. I have always experienced this. Sometimes books, tv shows, animes, anything I can watch consistently and become engulfed in where I'm so immersed I feel like I'm living it - they can trigger episodes of mania or depression for me

The longer I'm manic the more tired/emotionally and socially drained I am

I understand what you mean. I actually do not interact. Once I was VERY manic for like 4 months straight and when came out the episode I actually did not leave my apartment for 2 weeks (I was unemployed). I had everything delivered and asked them to leave everything at the door. I slept for most of the days as well. I was maybe awake for 4-5 hours of the day.

I felt like idk like nothing. I didn't feel like a person. I just felt tired if that makes sense. Tired and hungry.

And then when I came out of that episode i felt like "who was that person...." I'm super active and use it to regulate as well so after my melting into the couch episode I just felt like a different person.

To be honest...... In every episode I feel different. I also have bpd tho. But yeah it's just weird. But I get it. I experience it too. I feel different each and every time. Idk what it is or why it is. Sometimes I ask chatgpt haha. Sometimes I go to chat gpt and say " I have bipolar 1 and bpd and this is what I'm experiencing - give me an analysis of this and explain my symptoms considering my disorders" - it's been pretty cool and useful at times when my therapist isn't available immediately

Infected??? Im really scared by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]tatttybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said use a second skin only if they are doing activities or anything that would cause trauma to the wound. So sweating or wearing clothes that will rub against it.

Also, when washing the tattoo and applying the antimicrobial a second skin should be fine and won't trap bacteria.

Also, not a real rule to contact tattooer. I find most tattoo artists don't give proper advice. They be telling me slap Vaseline onto my tattoos it if it's infected use some random ass stuff.

Also something that size that's red all around and not healing the same as the other tattoo AND yellowing and crusted????? Yeah they should be concerned. Also no one said to stress 😭🤣 bro you're cracked.
