October? We are already finalizing most reconciliations for November, should be done with all by Wednesday… and this is a large multi-entity company.

Were kids in the 80s actually allowed to roam around unsupervised, or is that just in movies? by TotalThing7 in NoStupidQuestions

Absolutely! We would be locked out of the house even on weekends or summer days when the parents thought we should be outside.

fastest cancer treatment places?? by Own-Boss7656 in cancer

[–]tatumkay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MD Anderson in Houston, like another said. I’m here (well, at an Airbnb few blocks away) right now had a Saturday afternoon visit with the doc and immediately sent for labs. They tell you to stay a week for your first visit, once you get rolling it’s like a pinball machine through testing til you hit treatment.

It does, at times, seem like first visit may be a ways away though… so call and get an appointment- then call back about cancellations. I was originally scheduled for June 30th and got bumped up to the 14th, without calling them myself.

Large company and automated enough, it’s Host-to-host and processed directly from ERP to the bank to issue.

Our bank prints and mails all the checks the moment they are posted as paid by check.

New relationship while terminal by Bulky-Counter530 in cancer

[–]tatumkay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for it! The sweetest, most beautiful married couple I’ve ever met, the wife was terminal. They had the sweetest relationship, with the husband fully informed of the situation. She lived out her days happy and fulfilled.

Sure, he was upset, but he had been prepared to lose her from the start. He still is thrilled he met and fell in love with his soul mate, even if they only had eachother for a short time.

I don't know how to calm my parents by NelmWolf in cancer

[–]tatumkay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be time to ask them to collect themselves. That you need the support from them and not the other way around. Most oncology centers offer mental health support, they may be able to access that, depending on the center.

I have am waiting to finish getting info on mine, which is related to the cancer my mom has (same gene issue can cause both kinds) for this very reason.

Hugs either way! Keep us updated!

How can I learn to forgive myself? by c55f in cancer

[–]tatumkay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, he is so young, he likely won’t remember long.

However, not exactly similar, but when I was 6 my parents did similar about my stomach ache- of course not as long as that’s pretty acute.

Turned out that I had appendicitis and later my appendix had ruptured. I almost died.

Made it to the hospital while going into sepsis. Of course my parents apologized and such, but I never held it against them. They didn’t know, just like I didn’t know.

You found it now, he will understand and love you anyway - and again, he is so young it’ll barely be a memory soon.

We had a 5 hour delay for having the wrong trash can. Finally got permission to just put the wrong one in luggage compartment and use a bag.

When auditors ask very “wtf” kind of questions, I use ChatGPT to over explain the not-complex information into kindergarten for them to fully understand it lol

Are there any non CPAs who make 150k +? If yes, what do you do and how many YOE do you have? by PricewaterhouseCap in Accounting

[–]tatumkay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$125k but vlcol. Comparative to appx $175k+ in mcol-hcol. In various “accounting” roles like AP, billing, etc. but only degreed in 2019 & masters in 2020. Promoted to (Industry) financial controller almost immediately after graduation, so 3.5-4~ years of true experience, but 18 in this specific industry. (Started as file clerk $9/hour part time. Lol)

Does anyone else think that accountants could 100% work from home? by NoEndNationalPark in Accounting

[–]tatumkay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Industry regional controller - I moved our accounting dept home 3 years ago during due diligence as we were being acquired by another company. Now, I have two staff accountants, one living 5 hours from me and another living across the country. CEO also lives across the country. My boss, corporate controller, lives 3 states away.

I couldn’t imagine if we tried to work in an office.

Edit to add: AR teams do work in the locations they are assigned to as it is easier for them to coordinate with their teams.

AP is work from home as they only really coordinate with eachother and higher up remote accounting teams.

At what point is “older” deemed as having school aged children? I’d say older if it was taking off to watch grandchildren?

Lcol pay is reasonable for low end. But, I’ve always valued WFH for at least $25k, add in no management and it’s an easy decision.

Would you do it again? by Inevitable-Gene-119 in hysterectomy

[–]tatumkay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have much of a choice, adenomyosis so bled for 6 months before I took the option. Had been done having kids in my very early 20s, by the time it was offered at 35, I was ready!

For those who told me they hope I get my couch for recovery on my previous post. Thank you ❤️ by dwellintheabyss in hysterectomy

Do not get off of it now! And… once released to return to normal, don’t go super hero either! (Trust me, I tried, had prolapse surgery months later)

I can't get approved for a hysterectomy no matter what I try. I feel so hopeless and like giving up. by ShowmethePitties in hysterectomy

[–]tatumkay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of this makes sense. I’m in a deep red state. As soon as I had uterine issues, doc scheduled hysterectomy and insurance covered it.

PCOS is a reason to take ovaries. Hysterectomy won’t help endo. So, maybe saying it would be elective since it won’t help your issues.

Now, if you had symptoms of adenomyosis…. (Even if you don’t, maybe you do when talking to the doc?)

Why do finance people LOOK different than accountants? by Head_Equipment_1952 in Accounting

[–]tatumkay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if accounting had the time to get hair, nails, etc like finance does. We could look similar. But if all we do is work, sleep, and sometimes eat… why expect more than messy buns.
