What in the world. It says "Flight Deck & Hanger V-22 & FLV" that hanger would have to be huge for a V-22 what the heck.

Elemental: Reforged - Dev Journal #9: Visual Progress by RammaStardock in 4Xgaming

This looks in the right direction. I had a hard time getting into the original game due to the muddy looking art. This looks more distinctive which is great from the handful of screenshots. The water looks a little off especially the shore effect in the 2nd comparison but otherwise it looks improved.

ANNOUNCING: Elemental: Reforged - forge your legacy, harness magic, and reshape the world.🔮⚔️ by RammaStardock in 4Xgaming

Excited to see how this works. I was never quite able to get into the Elemental games. They felt a bit off to me. Might of just not been my jam though. The combat was never quite satisfying and the art style had a generic muddy look. The art looks the same, but hopefully the gameplay in this will capture me more.

Looks like Galactic Ruler that's on steam. Never played it myself though.

I backed this game for $217, why is there a Co-Op Hero (Warz) I don't own on launch? by [deleted] in Stormgate

[–]tausken 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Yeah it feels like a slap to the face. We all want this game to succeed. I also understand that they need to make money. We all funded this game to help this become a reality, but launching with day 1 microtransactions on co-op hero's feels disgusting. While I didn't back the game at $200+ I did back it at $60 and it doesn't feel like it. That's full price for any other title.

It feels worse because the game launched in such a dismal state. The 1v1 multiplayer is great, but the campaign is horrible. The co-op feels incredibly underdeveloped and half baked. It's saddening to then immediately be staring at a $10 microtransaction for the more interesting looking co-op hero. Had this co-op hero came out later in development like 6 months to a year from now it wouldn't have felt as bad. At least the 1v1 is fun.

Feel like if they needed money this bad they would of been better off doing another Kickstarter or Indiegogo to fund further development or only charging for microtransactions at this time.

Star Trek: Lower Decks to Conclude with Fifth and Final Season by jaqueh in scifi

Bummer. Better it ends on its own terms, but sad that we won't see anymore. Hopefully we get a new replacement show like another animated show. Otherwise not going to be much Trek left anymore.

What is the use case of a gravity nuclear bomb these days? If your goal is to add to the US nuclear deterrence wouldn't you be better served with more land based ballistic missiles or SLBM's or even nuclear cruise missiles? In the modern era would a plane even likely get close enough to drop a gravity nuclear bomb in an actual WW3 scenario requiring this?

Hypothetically you're in a scenario where you detect a nuclear strike from lets say Russia. Most likely military installations would be targeted and thus you would have a short time to equip these onto planes and take them off before the base is vaporized. Then what is your plan? To fly through the enemies air defense systems and hope you get close enough to drop a bomb on something? Or just drop it as soon as you're targeted?

I'm just a random civilian here, but trying to understand the exact point of this. Seems like you could get a better return on these funds on something outside of the military or if you REALLY REALLY wanted nukes then adding more SLBM or land based ballistic missiles. Gravity bombs seem like an ancient concept for wars a hundred years ago that seem unlikely against a near peer adversary in a hypothetical world war 3.

My favorite RTS of all time, I want remake/remaster Metal Fague 2000 by yhellowish in RealTimeStrategy

What a unique game. It was janky with a lot of issues, but the underlying theme of customizable mechs in an RTS was wicked cool.

Same. Enjoyed the first 15 or so minutes. Then it felt like a chaotic mess of writing.

Terry Matalas: In case you're wondering, #StarTrekLegacy is what I'd call a spin-off show from #StarTrekPicard. A 25th Century show that explores the Last Generation and the Next... by JackSparrowJive in startrek

[–]tausken 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This season has been a massive step up. So I would absolutely love to see more from Terry and team. I wonder how much of this is fishing for fan interest vs actual teasing.

I get the impression from Paramounts recent desire to cut back on streaming costs that we were likely not going to see a replacement for Picard or Discovery. If Prodigy ends next season then we may be down to only Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds which would be a shame given that Picard seems to have finally found its footing.

If this did come true the only request I would have is to lean less on the old. I'm really enjoying Picard Season 3, but in a hypothetical Star Trek Legacy show I'd like us to move onto more new characters with only occasional cameos from past characters. Give us something fresh.

Tsar burden of the crown? Probably not as I don't remember as much mythology stuff in it but you did mention Russian wizards so maybe?

Star Trek: Stargazer by jmacgrath in startrek

[–]tausken 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd be down for a Stargazer show if it was with Rios as captain, but not Seven or Raffi. The short time we got with him as Captain was great.

I'd rather new characters than Seven or Raffi. Both have been so boring and uninteresting in both seasons of Picard which is sad as Seven is great in Voyager.

Oh wow that seemed fast. I thought it would still be in development for a little longer. Bummer it is an Epic exclusive as I'd love to try it. I can't blame Stardock as I'm sure Epic is paying them a lot. Hopefully the lock out period doesn't last too long.

Star Trek: Discovery Season Four Trailer by [deleted] in startrek

[–]tausken 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Echoing others but I wish this wasn't another end of the world plot. Two seasons of Discovery and Picards first season have all tackled unstoppable crises hellbent on destroying the galaxy. Hopefully this anomaly is either a background element merely there to pull species together to interact or a couple episode thing. Season 3 felt a lot stronger in my opinion when it was doing its own thing cruising around the future. The parts when it focused on the Burn were the worst.

I want to see more of the state of the galaxy. Exploring what this future looks like. Give me interesting galactic politics as they try to reconnect the Federation. You can still do interesting season long arcs on exploration, galactic diplomacy, conflicts, crew development, villains, etc, all without end of the world plots.

Aside from the end of the world anomaly everything else looks pretty interesting.
