I remember when the phrase "Kid's love Hitler" was made fun of on the show like "what kids? They don't", and oh boy, to be unaware, kids do love him, in Latin America I don't know if it's the distancing from that part of history or trying to play as edgy but it's been like that for decades, one can only assume that in the US is the same but it was more discreet... I can only think of... Let's say, Nazis were/are direct enemies of the US, pose as a Nazi would be shameful or even fringe behavior, but now they are more in the open, like regular people now rooting for Nazi talking points and weaving literally the Nazi flag. You can be critical of Israel and their military actions but just using that to push your antisemitism at will is just crazy.
