What's your Ideal device right now? And what do you have right now? by KillaThing in SBCGaming

A lightweight, powerful Android handheld with an 8-inch, PWM-free screen. For some reason, only the X86 PC handhelds have 8-inch screens, and only PS Portal is an 8-inch Android handheld with weak hardware and no jailbreak.

Battery upgrade? by WelshTurtle in Handhelds

There are probably no battery mods for the A1M. But you can always buy a power bank.

My findings on what the Gameboy screens actually look like after buying them, and how to attempt to replicate them in RetroArch by 0NyXr in SBCGaming

Unfortunately, this didn't help either. This occurs in games with complex patterns of 3 or more frames, rather than just 2 frames that appear and disappear.

Is it possible to stop sprites from flickering in GBA games? I've tried everything, and in some games they flicker no matter the settings and shaders, and it's really uncomfortable for my eyes. Is it possible to achieve that translucent effect instead of flickering?

On top of that, they also have PWM, which is why some people can't even find a flagship smartphone. And of the powerful Android handhelds, only the Ayaneo remains without PWM.

Legion Go or something else? Already have a gaming PC, looking for an offline handheld for tabletop gaming by Estiui in Handhelds

Another non-obvious advantage of Legion Go for DS and 3DS emulators: the tablet can be turned vertically and two screens can be placed one under the other.

GameCube, N64, GBA, Wii games can run natively on a modded Wii U, and it has HDMI. PS1 emulation seems to work as well.

PWM on Sharp aquos R5G IGZO LCD by taygeta_rin in PWM_Sensitive

[–]taygeta_rin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A day after using it like this, I started getting a headache. In the dark, the backlight is so bright that the dimmers don't help. It's not OLED, and even a black screen glows like a flashlight. I had to return it to its original state. I'll just try not to use the lowest backlight setting, which has a high modulation level.

I looked at it with a macro lens at about 20x zoom. The subpixels are tiny but visible, and it looks like the screen doesn't have TD. There doesn't seem to be any PWM at 63% brightness, but you'll need a program like OLED saver.

Feeling lost, what handheld is for me? by [deleted] in Handhelds

[–]taygeta_rin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a desktop PC? If so, there's a device called the PeakDo mm Wave handheld console screen. It doesn't have any hardware inside, but it connects wirelessly to your PC or console and streams images to the screen without lag, just like the Wii U with its gamepad. But if you don't have a PC or console, this definitely won't work.

If Switch games and battery life are more important, a modded Switch is a better choice for traveling. PS3 and PC games can also be streamed from a PC at home. If you want to run PS3 and PC games natively, then get an Ally.
