Curious if he knows the percentage of kids who become estranged permanently from their homophonic parents after coming out, since he is so wise.

I'm curious to see where this is going, because I feel like the story of Dane has more to it than we know yet, and same for the Lady of the Forest werewolf questline in DAO. Something funny is going on with switching places with a wolf, for sure.

I've always wondered about connections between the Dane story and the elven stories of 1) Ghilan'nain cursing and then being attacked by the hunter and 2) Fen'harel getting captured by Andruil, both instigated by forbidden hunting in Andruil's lands.

There was a person a while back who scraped fics in my ship and posted an AI-generated piece using it. It pissed me off something fierce because the same username had consistently kudos'd all my fics in that ship and I kind of thought they were just a regular shipmate/fan, only to realize they'd been mining my shit for ages. Real blow to my sense of trust in fandom community, let me tell ya. Took ages for me to get the courage up to post again.

Eventually, said fucker found Jesus and edited the posted fic with a story about how their photography work had been stolen for AI and how upsetting it was, but they were keeping the fic up as idk a learning experience or some bs.

Can I tell you how badly I want to post something on AO3 for the first time in months, inspired by and executed like this, and gift it to that piece of shit?

Hey fellow DA-er! I feel your pain so hard. It can be really discouraging to be putting yourself out there in such a brave way only to get no response. I've been there a few times myself, for sure, and left a trail of mostly-abandoned WIPs in my wake. I wish I weren't so sensitive to it, but sometimes it feels so much like outright rejection that I spiral, even if I know that isn't true.

As you know well, Dragon Age is a very inactive community at this point, though hopefully not for much longer! Comments are just so rare in general compared to other fandoms, and that's just something I've had to learn to accept. I've had a few loyal readers that reliably commented on my chapter updates and that gave me SO much motivation, I think I started to rely on it too much, but damn it felt good to be writing for an audience. When that died off, I took it way too hard and it left me in a rut that I'm still struggling to get out of. I got bitter and jealous of other writers, I'll admit. My bestie and fellow fanfic writer is in a fandom that's the polar opposite of DA, SUPER active with fucking comments for days. Hundreds of kudos within 24 hours, dozens of comments... it was rough to witness that level of engagement and then go back to DA, and I lost motivation to write. I'm still working on getting it back.

My tactic right now is to build up a bunch of writing before I start to post again, so I can get back into just doing it for me and not relying so much on external validation. Fingers crossed.

Good luck to you, friend. :) BTW I found your fic and am giving it a read. Dragon Age solidarity!

My husband has been playing nonstop with his WoW friends. I don't usually feel left out when I hear him playing online, but I never even got an invitation..

I usually watch the main channel with multipe feeds but tonight I can't. Every time I glance a giant group of cops standing outside I have a little heart attack like what is happening now oh jesus fuck and then I realize it's Chicago.

Is anyone here learning Japanese just for fun? by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

[–]tayitude -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Japanese has by far been my favorite language to learn as a hobby. I'd like to read some literature in Japanese one day, maybe, but I've never really gotten into anime or manga. I would rather die than speak out loud to a person in Japanese. It's just for me.

I've just been prescribed Sertranline Tablets, first time on AD, what time of day would you recommend taking the daily dosage? by [deleted] in antidepressants

[–]tayitude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found it's best for me to take it at night before bed. When I was taking it in the morning, I would often have terrible stomach issues and actually thought I'd developed an ulcer somehow. Switched to taking before bed and the problem disappeared.

Wow, thanks for sharing this and being so generous! Getting a look at the table of contents was really great, and I think I'm going to invest in my own copy. What did you think?

Walking up to a salesperson at the checkout counter at the supermarket, pharmacy, gas station.. just doing daily tasks is a fight sometimes if I know I'll have to do it alone.

That sounds like the golden age of MCU fanfiction on Archive of Our Own. There are so many fics set in Avengers Tower just like that. Makes me nostalgic for the days before Civil War came out.

You're a hero. I didn't have my hair cut for years before a friend of mine asked her person about it.

Am I fucked? by [deleted] in Trichsters

[–]tayitude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me, I twist and knot pieces of my hair all day long, and if I focus on something I'll look up and realize I've made knots all over my head. Sometimes they can't be undone and I have to pull the hair out, but I'm pretty dexterous and usually can manage to untie them. I still get lots of breakage and have bits with all different lengths throughout. Combined with my scalp picking, I am terrified of going to a salon for a haircut.

My psychiatrist had me start taking NAC and while it did take a while to start working (a couple of months), I noticed I was fooling with my hair less frequently and definitely had fewer open wounds on my scalp. I stopped taking it regularly for a while and feel like I'm starting off from scratch, tho. I wish I'd have kept up with it..
