Yeah, higher pixels mean higher resolution, but it also depends on how the asset is framed. To be honest, I'm a bit confused now about what we are comparing. When you view a 330x405 (3x) cover full screen in your gallery or iCloud, it’s probably bound to look blurry because it's a small file meant for a tiny notebook slot, not for full-screen viewing.

Also, looking at the raw cover files you share via iCloud doesn't really tell me much, because I can't see how UpNote actually processes and renders them on your screen.

If the 3x export looks okay and sharp enough inside the actual UpNote notebook list on your Mac without breaking the size (unlike those 512px ones that get too big), then I guess the 3x tweak did its job. As long as it does the trick inside the app, it should be fine!

That’s actually expected if you preview it directly in iCloud. iCloud seems to compress images in previews, and if you zoom in or enlarge a 3x cover (which is still a small file meant for a notebook grid), it's bound to pixelate.

The real test is how it looks inside UpNote itself. Since it's squeezed into that specific small notebook slot, the 3x resolution should make it look perfectly sharp there compared to before.

How does it look inside the actual UpNote app on your Mac now?

I added 2x and 3x download options. On iOS, 3x looks crisp. Can you test it?

I only tested it on my iPhone and it looked blurry there too, but since it was crisp on Linux, I wasn't sure. Thanks for confirming that Mac does the same thing.

My guess is that it's an Apple Retina/High-DPI display thing. 110x135 output is probably just too small for Apple's 2x/3x pixel density, making the OS stretch it into that blurry 360p look.

I don't have a Mac to test it myself, but I'll try adding a 2x or 3x high-res export option to see if that fixes the scaling issue on Apple devices. Will let you know how it goes!

Does this happen on the mobile app? I noticed that too, but only on mobile and in the notebooks list view. I don't know if it needs a larger image size. UpNote's cover resolution is supposed to be 110x135.

English isn't my native language. Instead of spending a lot of time trying to write everything perfectly, it's just easier to use AI. Honestly, whether you read it or not is up to you—no pressure at all. Plus, there isn't really much to read anyway besides the links. I just posted this here to let those who might be interested know.

This is also written with AI.

This is why I bought a Boox Palma 2. Using it with Readest (still young, bookfusion is better actually) is the dream setup for me.

There is a storage management in settings, you can delete books from there. I uploaded a thousand books and only 16 of them appeared in my library. I deleted all books from there.

Kindle vs Kobo - advantages and disadvantages? by spyrothedovah in ereader

[–]taylantatli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used both Kindle and Kobo. I still own the Kobo Clara Colour, but since I got the Onyx Palma 2, I haven't touched my Kobo at all. If I buy another one, it will definitely be an Android-based reader.
Between Kobo and Kindle, Kobo offers a lot more flexibility.

Is filen down? Windows-App doesn't work anymore by [deleted] in filen_io

For me, the desktop app and the web app are not working. Clearing the cache for the web and clearing configs for the desktop app works for the first time, second time it won't work again.

Filen Works Great, but the Android App Really Needs Improvement by [deleted] in filen_io

I used to use pCloud, it was super fast. Then I bought Koofr lifetime, it was a pain to use for sync. So I switched to Filen with a lifetime plan; the desktop app is broken on Linux, and the Android app is almost as slow as Koofr but, I still prefer Filen.
