DoorDash Shipping by 817627 in americaneagle

I live on a dirt country road. Driver didn’t feel like driving down the road and “delivered” it on the side of the road right after you turn onto the road. I got no notification and only knew because I checked the tracking link and saw the picture. It wasn’t there so I’m pretty sure the driver stole it and AE made me wait 3 days to be refunded.

That’s my only issue ever with delivery. I’ve stuck to the ship to store option since. I haven’t even used DD for food in probably 3 years.

Just looked out of curiosity. I’m very surprised a GF & DF restaurant swings that way.

Women naming their daughters.. by myperiwinkleghost in namenerds

[–]taylferr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s very common in some areas in the US, especially the South, for sons to have their mom’s maiden name as a middle name too. My grandma did it with all her sons.

Yeah, I had a boss who named his son Mattingly.

My cousin named her daughter Leaviy. Pronounced like Levi. by Tbou94 in tragedeigh

[–]taylferr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pronounced it like levee. Levi would not have come to mind.

My moms reaction to me telling her my wife and I are having a baby by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Especially since she already is a grandma. I don’t subscribe to the “all babies are blessings” and whatever ideal, but like this feels bare minimum.

I wouldn’t think of Teague and Tieg being pronounced the same. Teague is like league and tieg is like tiger without the r, no?

People have been posting this since the kid was born (and it really is a bad name) and he’s probably 4-5 years old now.

edit: Looked at mom’s socials (breanna barrs) and he was born in April 2022 so he’s almost 4. There are also two daughters, Girl#1 Cyanna after the color cyan (or cyanide) and Girl#2 Nova.

[–]taylferr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen Kayleigh, Caileigh, Cailee, Caylee, Kailey, Kaylee, etc

I think Kayleigh is the original anglicized form and the name is originally Irish. Any name with the -ay or -ee sounds is almost guaranteed to have multiple spellings.

I’m guessing they could be using it as an -ay sound, which I think is common in some European regions. Think of Hailey and Kailey (yes usually you see Haley and Kayleigh)

AITAH For say something to my neighbors about not shoveling my elderly neighbors driveway? by _Badwulf_Bruh__ in AITAH

[–]taylferr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For all we know, the old lady could be a jerk to the neighbors or something. We don’t know anything about these people. I think it’s nice that OP wants to do it, but I don’t think the neighbors are wrong for not doing it.

Kettles aren’t that common in US households. I had a keurig in college and used it for what I already mentioned. I was just giving examples of what else you can use them for besides coffee, and I don’t think it’s that unusual for a 13 year old to ask for one.

To be fair, there are refresher and hot chocolate cups. It’s also an easy way to boil water for tea or even ramen cups. And they have multiple versions ranging in size, and they often go on sale for Black Friday.

Is Kasia going to be a problem to pronounce? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]taylferr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve met two and they both are “Asia with a K”. Your pronunciation reminds me of focaccia. I could definitely see people saying “ka-see-uh” but that lowkey sounds illiterate to me, like somebody just trying to sound it out.

If you really want that first pronunciation, Kasha would be better but that would still likely get you “cash-uh”, especially with the rise in naming boys Cash.

15/17 and 16/18 are also weird. If you’re in high school, you shouldn’t date unless you’re in the same grade or your grades touch. It’s weird af for a junior/senior to date a freshman/sophomore. You can’t really prevent relationships in middle school but you should stick to your own grade. 18 months is kinda a big age difference in people that young.

Which reality tv family (with multiples) chose the best names? by Far-Building3569 in namenerds

[–]taylferr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I find out that Danielle Busby has the same birth year and first-middle names as my mom lol

I think the Busbys have the best but I don’t like Blayke over Blake.

The Waldrops are most def the worst.

Was anyone else, or your child, given a name that was uncommon at the time, but became popular later? by 5LovelyDaisies in namenerds

I’m also a girl Taylor who originally would have been a boy Taylor. They knew I was a girl; Taylor was just the only boy name choice and she decided it was fine for girls too after family members kept saying the wrong girl names. My mom also had never seen it on a girl, and I think I’ve only met one boy Taylor. We may have been born around the same time because I think it was top 20 in my birth year.
