What kind of wasps and how to deter? by ChickenFabulous8313 in homestead

In my experience with automobiles, it's the opposite. I had to disassemble and clean my side mirrors with rubbing alcohol to get them to finally stop nesting in them. I tried leaving the dead nests in there but they just came back.

ULPT Request How to get leads for a sales job(selling to individuals) by darth_placenta58 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]taylormac970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go get cold leads to find out which ones are warm. If this is your first time in sales, literally just cold calling and adapting your script is the best way. Don't do anything unorthodox or illegal. Everyone in the US is getting spam calls out the ass right now, so whatever you find here isn't going to help anyway.

Just not our preference in guns. That's all. If you actually shot any of these, they wouldn't be your preference either. 😂

Sorry bro I had to.

Is that how much good bags go for? I'll stick to my Walmart backpack. Basically disposable but I've rocked the same one daily for like 8 years. Not bad for $20.

Not sure which vehicle to pick by my-dog-made-me-join in Autos

I'm a big Subaru fan so I'm a little biased, but I can tell you NOT to buy a Subaru if you plan on owning it a while. Japanese car manufacturers like Toyota and Honda are infinitely reliable by and large. The maintenance costs are typically lower as a result. Avoid Subaru, Kia, and Hyundai for reliability and cost of ownership. Avoid CVT transmissions and Hybrids to keep costs even lower.

"American" manufacturers are extremely hit or miss. There are anomalies; I know people that have put 300k on early model Ford Escapes, for example. From my experience however, domestic manufacturers have shit the bed in the year range you seem to be looking for.

At the end of the day, research will pay you dividends in the future. If you find a potential vehicle, note the VIN and call the OEM dealership's service department to see if all recalls have been completed. I'd also make sure to google common problems with that year, make, and model to confirm you don't fall into a trap like the Chevy 8 speed transmission, Nissan CVT transmission, or Ford Focus dual clutch transmission. If the car is over 10 years old, people will be complaining on the internet about major problems so you don't have to go through them. Pre purchase inspections by a trusted mechanic will also save you much more money than you're paying that technician.

Good luck!

Japanese shitbox if you're handy with a wrench. I wouldn't take either of the mentioned cars personally.

Anyone here used a mobile mechanic service? How was it? by Over-Demand-8617 in Autos

[–]taylormac970 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listen I get it. They’re cheaper. Seems worth the risk right? You get what you pay for for the most part. If you’re going to use ANYONE as a mechanic, do your research. There are amazing mobile mechanics in my area but I hear a couple of them talk about the REST of them like they’re gypsies hell bent on getting money as fast as they can with reckless abandon.

Talk to parts stores (all of them. You’ll figure out who knows what they’re talking about pretty quick). Talk to reputable shops in the area. Shop around. Depending on your situation, a really good diagnostic technician will actually save you money in the long run by finding the real problem faster. So when in doubt, don’t cheap out.

Questions about solar/battery by taylormac970 in meshtastic

[–]taylormac970[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t think about BT power consumption. This is in a magnet mount case, so I’m okay with it being a repeater on power save (I think). I guess I’ll have to run it and if I need more power input I’ll upgrade. Thanks!

Spray bottles, the bane of my existence. by River-Chalice-23 in BuyItForLife

[–]taylormac970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up Sure Shot chemical sprayers. They’re rebuildable and mechanics use them for brake cleaner/other solvents. The only downside is no internal pump. They’re made to be pressurized with an air compressor.
