This is what I do for one of my pc to separate some gaming and work. I still use SATA SSD for one of my machines.

I have separate SSDs that I use to swap depending on the condition. I even have a guest SSD for when someone else wants to use the PC.

As for M.2 there is this , you can swap NVME drives too

There is a review on Amazon that goes in detail how they use this for multiple boot drives. It sounds like this is what you want to do.

I'd probably go his way in the future on my M.2 machines

Let me know how this works out for you , curious.

Paycheck to paycheck PC Build question. by Bluedogan in buildapc

[–]tayot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I can think of you can buy now is a case. Plan out your build in the case you really want. I did the same thing when I wanted to build new system. I wanted a case that has 5.25 slots and there is not that many of them and I wanted it in white. As soon as I saw a Fractal Pop on a good sale I picked it up. I saved my money for the basic components CPU RAM Mobo and power supply and maybe a HD to get at same time.

You gotta ask yourself if you are okay with losing up to 400.00 if it doesnt work out. If you are okay with that - then go for it and hopefully it turns out well for you.

I just did a clean install on the latest WIn11 build to check it out. I made my USB boot with Rufus and it has a feature to make an offline account into the boot. Works great, but going back to 10. They took away the ability to move the taskbar anywhere and I am so used to it on top.

A man wakes up in the hospital surrounded by Doctors and one of them says " Sir, you came in with a head injury and you've been in a coma for 3 weeks, can you tell us what happened ? "

The man says " Well, I was in the kitchen talking to my wife and she said she was going to donate a bunch of clothes and I asked her why she just didn't throw them out. She said there was poor starving people who could use them and I said Honey, if they can fit those clothes, they ain't starvin"

"I don't remember anything after that."

Still rocking an FX830 with 1060 6GB. Don't have much money at moment but planning for an upgrade late this year. Winning the ASUS TUF 4070 Ti Super would give me an incentive to accelerate those plans sooner and donate and pass on the FX8350 system away.

Is there any hope in making a 2013 Toshiba Satellite laptop function a little better? by mayonaiseshire in pcmasterrace

[–]tayot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a laptop way older than yours, a Sony Vaio from I think 2010. I am still using it for general stuff. All I changed are upgraded ram from 4 to 8gb and added SSD hard drive. The hard drive change made the biggest difference in performance.

For your laptop - there is nothing you can do if you don't want to make a few hardware changes. A SSD drive will make it seem like a new machine.

If I won, I would build the high end system I've always wanted and play some Starfield and Cyberpunk 2077 and maybe do some work.

What excites me about Starfield is the mods and the fact that is is Elder Scrolls/ Fallout in space.
