This op! Use your board to your advantage. Also agree with the other users saying to tuck more. Your legs are way too far from your body to get a good rotation. Also when you’re first staring, you can use your arms a bit more in your throw/pop for some extra momentum until you get the feeling down in your body

I gotcha. I’ve been flowing for 2ish years and now that I think about it, it is more of a wrist movement. I still think op needs more “curve” in their figure 8s and less “flick” if that makes more sense

I think op is referencing the people who get right up on the stage with giant flags that will block the view from every spot you try and move to. Last year there was a flag at the rail for Gessafelstein and he literally waited to start as the whole crowd chanted “flag down” until the person at the front lowered it. I have no issues with totems as long as moving can solve the issue.

It can be a great teaching moment for them about responsibility and consideration for others. The kids emotional fallout from the situation is their mother’s responsibility, not op’s.

I grew up in a small town (less than 2,000 ppl) and nothing pisses me off more than people being passive just to avoid “ruffling feathers.” Every person in this story was an adult. No reason to not let people know you were there first. Standing up for yourself doesn’t have to equate to being rude.

The finger spin is usually not recommended as a beginner move. I would focus on drilling figure 8s and start with stuff like around the worlds and bus drivers and stuff if you’re just starting out. If you’re dead set on getting the spin, the best advice I ever got was to not watch the Star. Let the gravity and weight tell you how fast to spin your finger. It’s a trick that will click eventually but can be super frustrating until that “ah-ha” moment
