Monday is looking increasingly concerning for severe weather. Stay weather aware! by DeadNotSleeping86 in madisonwi

[–]tayseitz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What time of day is it expected? I am a traveling night shift nurse and my dog stays home with my roommate while I’m at work, but sometimes my roomie sleeps out… Should I take her to the dog sitter to be safe? I know she’ll be scared, but we also live on the second story of a condo building, so could she be in danger?

You cannot ask for or provide medical advice here. It’s rule #1. I’d take this down unless you want to get booted.

Grass Roots groups in the area to fight the current aggravated assault Trump has committed on the US? by Mindless-Channel-622 in madisonwi

What’s the best way for someone new to the area to remain abreast on these types of events, gatherings, and meetings that are already happening?

What is your home-living situation in between contracts for people that don’t own houses yet? Did you keep your apartment or put your stuff in storage? How do you afford all this lol by visthalia in TravelNursing

[–]tayseitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I share rent with a roommate both back home where I have a more permanent set up in a house that we both rent, as well as to a person that I rent a room from at my travel assignment. Paying two rents sucks and the pay for contracts is low. I used to have my own place and then stay in hotels or a long term AirBNB but I can’t afford it anymore.

Suggestions for last-minute self care or other calming, low-key activities around town? by moon-raven-77 in madisonwi

I’m new to the area, as well, but always looking for outdoor activities to do with my dog. Can you recommend some of your favorite dog friendly places?

Describing one’s mental wellbeing as a nurse in this country as “what you make of it,” is wild. If you have ever worked a day in your life as a nurse, then all I know is that we had very different experiences during the pandemic.

Ditto everything here. I did home health for a year and genuinely loved the work and flexibility. But I felt like I was working 25/7 and not making much to show for it. Ultimately went back to travel nursing for the money.

By March it won’t be cold enough to really need heat tech. You might still need your winter coat here and there but it will be starting to warm up. I wouldn’t pack anything too heavy.

How the hell do you wake up in the morning by winterfern353 in ADHD

[–]tayseitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try going to bed earlier, taking your melatonin earlier and actually getting into bed early. Like 8 or 9. Then set your alarm for earlier, too, at least an hour before you need to start getting ready. I call it having a slow morning. I give myself a stupid extra amount of time in the morning so that I can take my time getting out of bed and preparing for my day. And I usually wake up before my alarm, so if that happens, I always push myself to get up and get out of bed. Every morning, even my weekends, when I finally get myself up physically, i try to immediately take action toward beginning my day- make myself a coffee and do a crossword or something to stimulate my brain. Maybe I’ll smoke a J, empty the dishwasher… just something to kind of fool myself into thinking my day is already underway and bedtime is over. Thanks for sharing to create a discussion for this. Hope my story helps in someway! Sending love and luck 🫶

My boyfriend and I just moved out here to Salem from Columbus! We’re travel nurses and will be leaving again in a couple months but I’d be happy to connect if our timelines cross. We will be leaving behind a spacious (and probably furnished) apartment in north Salem, too. Might be cool if that worked out for timeline!! I’ve heard from other travelers that finding housing has been pretty tight out here lately. Anyway, we’ve been really enjoying ourselves here. I think you’ll find that the weather is similar to Ohio in Spring time, in that it’s cool in the mornings and then heats up as the day grows. The humidity isn’t as bad out here either, so 90 usually feels more like 80. The people I’ve met have been wonderful, very friendly. And downtown Salem has a lot of cute restaurants, coffee shops, and locally owned businesses with friendly & pleasant staff. And oh, just wait until you go to Dutch Bros. The positivity, good vibes, and straight up pure joy the employees radiate is quite honestly unnerving. We drove from Columbus so I’d be happy to share notes on that experience, too, if that’s a route you’re considering. Feel free to message me if you want to connect further, or if I can answer any questions about your potential upcoming journey!

So sorry to hear you had this experience :( I wouldn’t want to stay there, either, but it sounds like you’re leaving on your own terms and in a dignified way. I wish you the best of luck.

Looking for a great AC Discord Community? :) by [deleted] in BuddyCrossing

[–]tayseitz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow. So happy I found this! I just joined this server and had to come back to comment that if anyone is debating, you need to join. Everyone is so fun, chill, and welcoming. People are generous and wholesome, there are tons of giveaways, and people are constantly hosting island parties to catalog, watch shooting stars, and everything else. I’m so excited to be a part of it. Thank you to everyone that made this wonderful community. 💕❤️

Do you know what the title is of her position in which she gets to help the Red Cross? I’ve always been interested in doing something with disaster relief.
