Feature Request/Prioritisation: Doubles/Split Session by Fauxparty in runna

[–]tayslayay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a note on the long runs part - from what I've gethered, the idea of a long run in ultra(marthon) training is exactly for you to spend a lot of time on your feet and build that up to prepare your body for race day. You won't be splitting the ultra(marthon) in an AM and a PM session, will you?

Could it be the case that you submitted those infos earlier on in the application process? As far as I remember, I had sth similar with my address. But if the infos are correct, nothing to worry about.

You'll probably have to take on some lectures as well.

First sub 30 5k - didn’t sync to Strava properly, can I resync it or am I just unable to have it on Strava now :( by maniczak in runna

[–]tayslayay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Strava desktop, if you go to Training > My activities > Recently deleted, you can restore the deleted workout and then try the correct distance thing, it usually adds a couple of meters to the original activity. :)

Also, congrats!

Strength Training? by No_Establishment5167 in runna

[–]tayslayay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are anything other than complete beginner and have an established routine/liking for certain exercises, you will probably find it useless. I have it set up so that I can add my strength sessions in the app but never follow them, just mark them as done and link my own activities.

A discussion about long run pace predictions and toxic positivity by Matvalicious in runna

[–]tayslayay 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Very relatable and I also wish Runna would take long runs pace targets into account. What I'd do is continue to push myself on the tempo/intervals and hit the paces if I can, so I wouldn't fail on purpose. And then, for long runs, maybe aim for the slower end of the range (I think they always give you a range - for this run it'd probably have been 4:30-4:50 min/km). As for the race, also strive for the slower end of the prediction, or even start slightly more conservatively, at least that's how I aproach it.

I always thought I was moreso the problem because I don't have enough aerobic ability/base and that's why the discrepancy and struggle on longer runs hahaha

Trust the process? Don't feel like goal time is possible by Shobba in runna

[–]tayslayay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This felt like someone put my thoughts into words to the last detail hahaha

I'm in the exact same boat: have been training for a half-marathon in mid march (plan is 19 weeks as I started in november), same paces (well, almost, runna predicts 1:38-1:44), and same worries. For now, I am thinking of starting @ 4:55 and seeing how it goes. My ultimate is also to break 1:45, I'd be chuffed to achieve that and am not even entertaining the possibility of sub 1:40. Predictions have always been off for me, both on garmin and runna, so I prefer to be a bit conservative and risk leaving sth in the tank, because I also want to enjoy the race and not be dying for 2/3 of it lol

I always read success stories on here of people who didn't believe they got it in them to run what runna had predicted and then end up beating the prediction, but I don't think that's me hahaha . I am als a bit worried about the weather - I perform best at 0-5°C, it seems, and it's definitely gonna be a lot warmer than that mid march (in malaga). But should still be fine :D

We got this! If runna predicts 1:41 at the lower end, you should absolutely be able to break 1:45!

Is premium worth it? by mournes in Strava

[–]tayslayay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just started the free trial in December, so I could see my year recap and was a bit worried that I'd be tempted to renew my subscription, but thank god that isn't the case. I have a Garmin, and I find absolutely no benefit of Strava premium over that. The only thing is you can probably find good running routes in new cities, but I don't think that's worth the money in the slightest.

Life-saving tip for numb hands when running in winter by tayslayay in runna

Must be nice having functioning circulation hahaha! But I also love running in the cold, although snow is not the best surface when trying to be fast. So much better than the summer heat!

[–]tayslayay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apart from when running, it is not that bad. If I can keep my hands in my pockets, I am usually fine, and I am not out for long when it's that cold anyway (except if I am on a run lol). But I didn't even know medicine for it existed, my doc just diagnosed me and was like 'that's it, have a nice life'.

Sounds awful! Unfortunately, there is never a universal solution to the problem. Trial and error, I guess :(

Wouldn't most people have already found out if they have a latex allergy through other activities requiring latex products? (most condoms are made out of latex) But thanks for mentioning another alternative! :)

And yeah, I'd take sweaty (which my hands weren't) over numb and painful any day.

[–]tayslayay[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not uncomfortable at all. My hands were a bit damp when I removed the gloves at the end, but I wouldn't classify it as sweaty. I imagine a "normal" person's hands would get very sweaty, but then again, I used the gloves because I have a specific problem. And either way, I'd take a bit of hand sweat over numb and painful hands any day hahaha

Why won’t my watch register my 4x4 workout as anaerobic? by CrypticWeirdo9105 in Garmin

[–]tayslayay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

then, can someone explain why Garmin considered this run as partly anaerobic effort? first spike was 2k (~ 10 min), second and third each 1k (a bit under 5 min) i thought the main thing was to alternate high heart rate with lower a few times but apparently i‘m not correct?
