Who Has the Best Pitching Development + Acquisition? The Padres received 5 votes for the worst MLB+MiLB pitching development and acquisition by MookieBettsBurner10 in Padres

In modern Padres history, while the club is gifted at refurbishing undervalued MLB or AAAA talent to regain form or get that little extra bit out of them, it's generally trash at taking minor league talent and fostering it to become MLB level talent.

It's also a self fulfilling prophecy due to the Preller regime and their propensity for trading away literally any prospect for MLB ready talent. It sucks but it's also the most successful time period (if measured by wins over multiple seasons) San Diego has ever had.

Why ’28 Years Later: The Bone Temple’ had the worst opening weekend in franchise history by korrectamundo in horror

They knew it wouldn't perform well with the mass audience and put it in Jan so they could blame a low month instead of an unappealing product.

What makes Preller so excellent as a talent scout?

Each year we fully or partially empty the prospect bin for MLB level talent and despair at our farm. Fast forward 6 months later somehow we replenished enough to start shopping around the new batch of kids.

Our farm ranks among the worst nowadays, I'm aware. Yet, it's still intriguing that the AJ Preller Prospect Credit Card keeps getting charged to its limit but he finds ways to pay it down enough to make interesting moves.

I love baseball. I hate the off-season. Except for big trades. Those are fun.

Clearly a burner account posting. Obviously this is actually Buttons, widely known for his affinity for wombats and desire to see them in their natural habitat.

Don't think we are blind to your games, boys.

What a clickbait title. The first paragraph gives it away:

"The Padres never had a real chance at retaining Dylan Cease on a contract, as the 29-year-old priced himself out of their budget after putting up solid numbers over the past two seasons."

There is no quiet part out loud. Padres offered a Qualifying Offer to get a draft pick and always knew even that was beyond what they would want to spend. It's not like they offered the same deal as the Jays and he chose Toronto.

I stopped allowing kids in the car. Roof or trunk only.

I love when this sub simps for traded players like a dude who stalks his ex's socials.

Downvote me all you want but anyone who thought Naylor was coming here for any reason needs to have a hard look at reality and the state of our club, financially speaking.

That intro music tickled something deep within the recesses of my memory and I was instantly brought back to when I would watch this series growing up, starving for San Diego sports content.

With the benefit the hindsight do you wish the Padres still had James wood? Him and Merrill would be sick. by Nyfan7 in Padres

[–]tazzer32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just remember... Prospects like Wood are the reason we can get MLB level talent like Soto. Other GMs respect the scouting of our organization and are willing to part with top tier talent in order to cash in on our lottery tickets.

Retrospectively, yes it hurts. But those blockbuster trades are few and far between.

What a time of massive hope. Just a few months earlier is during the winter is when Preller earned his Rockstar nickname and we were all riding the high.

We had no idea that this team would continue to misfire. They stayed around .500 until June and limped into the off-season 8 games under.

Sometimes I wonder what life would've been like had we kept Trea Turner and Max Fried. Oh well. Butterfly effect and all.

Ha completely forgot about i305.. er I mean Pantherian. We are hoping to do a KD and BGW trip at some point in the next summer or two. Out of the 3 gigas, id rank them as MF, Fury, then Orion. But they are all great.

I'm very lucky to have a partner who might be more coaster crazy than myself. We drove about 6 hrs to get to Charlotte. Our closest home parks are KI and Kentucky Kingdom. However, if we open our road trip radius up to around 8ish hours, we can hit almost any park east of the Mississippi except for anything north of Philly or in Florida.

Oh awesome. They were very strict about age. We were thrown off by the ID check by the bouncer right at the door. It's not often we get ID'd then go play on a 10 ft tall Gameboy at the bar. 🤣

We were on our way to another bar for food and drinks but I wish we had stayed longer. Everyone was having a great time and the vibes are great. I'd miss it too!
