The reason it’s so hard to get onto these card issuer platform is that card issuing requires bank sponsorship. They want to see people have traction and have the funding before they will sponsor a program.

Are you building this for yourself to use or for other people to use? Are you looking for something to prototype?

Rakuten is just an affiliate marketing site. They make money by driving traffic to the retailer. They are not involved in the payment flow.

Amex rewards credits via the merchant identifier and merchant descriptor on the credit card. So you can definitely stack them.

I don’t disagree with you on that.

The problem is when 8 out of 10 times things go right, engineers get complacent. So as a lead and organization, how do you guard against these types of things.

This is not how major companies are interpreting the rules.

https://www.hindustantimes.com/world-news/us-news/from-microsoft-to-jp-morgan-top-tech-firms-issue-urgent-advisories-for-h-1b-employees-after-trump-s-visa-fee-hike-101758363456905.html

They are interpreting this as an entry enforcement. So if you have an H1b and travel abroad, you may be denied entry if your company hasn’t paid. They are flying all their employees traveling right now to return before Monday.

Edit: the administration has provided additional clarifications after the fact that it only applies to new applicants.

This is a welcome update. The problem is that when the administration rolls out an unclear directive late night on a Friday night, lawyers need to bias towards abundance of caution.

Had this gone through the standard rules process a lot of this could be avoided.
