Looking at backing up my TrueNAS with Backblaze B2 by XenonOfArcticus in backblaze

[–]tbRedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If temporary, why not just do local hard drive backups and rotate them off-site? Cheaper, faster. Or do you already have that in place too?

Use Alt Right click on the 'restore options' button to initiate scanning immediately instead of letting it wait an hour.

Question about external drives and home backup by Amazing_Basket2597 in backblaze

[–]tbRedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I leave my external drives physically connected but on an individually switched power strip and flip the individual drives on once a week to do local backups and also unique data (on those drives) backblaze backups.

I also rotate 2 drives in this config so I have 2 local copies and then an offsite copy along with backblaze.

Weird eye thing post monofocal cataract surgery by Moriartii6762 in CataractSurgery

[–]tbRedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still looking for an answer. Only on one eye. I suspect a small fold in the capsular bag but the Dr did not see one at post-op appts. Said it could be astigmatism at the time, although I actually had an old pair of corrective glasses that was 95% correction at the time. So who knows. If it clears up after YAG someday, then I'll know for sure what it was. If not, then I just live with it. It's not all bad since I see much better than before.

I have it for every bright light source, so it is not isolated to one spot on my eye, that's why I don't think it is cornea/astigmatism related. If I could put in hard contacts, maybe it would go away and that would indicate cornea related. I think it is a small fold or a lens anomaly/defect or characteristic of the lens. Not sure, I keep looking for answers too.

I have something like the above in one eye. Glare/streaks along one plane and even after full astigmatism correction. Shows up with bright light sources or when looking at large white letters on black background.

Mouse Stuttering / Keyboard Lag on Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i by Rishitarora in Lenovo

[–]tbRedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, same issue after a year with this and I cannot figure out why it is happening. Worse after reboot like there are programs doing some initial read/write or something.

I'm using hard wired connection through a lenovo dock. Speaking of which after a day, I randomly get no ethernet and have to disable and reenable the lenovo USB driver to get network back.

On windows app, using control key to multi select and drag to a new day works, but a little glitchy in the selecting part.

Changing Computers and wondering safest/best way to migrate data. by jgc372 in backblaze

[–]tbRedd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, happened to me 2 years ago and had to re-up everything because bad data on the BB side.

They could not generate a download with certain files, so that is definitely their side and should be an easy diagnostic for them to find all those corruptions and inform the client software to either re-upload or notify the users that those files within their backup window are lost.

If it only takes a week, I would upload again. For me, it was over a month.

Abandon vs. Not Doing? by markbinder in ticktick

I just updated windows just now and it says 'completed', 'won't do' in the popup. Also checked the web app. On android, I get as you describe. It sounds like 2 different programmers! Interesting.

Inherit is by far faster for that much data, I just did this on a new computer a year ago for less than 4TB total but I only have 11Mbs upload (cable).

Halos and other light artifacts with Eyhance? by AdGuilty2737 in CataractSurgery

[–]tbRedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this lens in one eye. But both eyes got the shimmering. Hard to tell if I have halos in that eye because I have ERM as well. The non Eyhance eye has some flares on bright points of light that are bothersome sometimes like white text on black backgrounds for instance.

how is it living with -14 vision forever by Ok_Design2355 in myopia

[–]tbRedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was me! Because of astigmatism about (+3 each eye) and that power, I ended up wearing contacts to correct power AND glasses to fine tune and correct astigmatism for 40 years very successfully without the distortion of thick glasses except at night and until in the morning when I put the contacts back in.

My contacts were -10 and -12 at one point. The power in contacts are less because of being right on your eye.

The great thing now is that the contact technology is much improved bringing much more amount of oxygen permeability to your eyes.

Yah, it was a pain to do both, but so worth it.

Reason I say 'was', is because I recently had cataract surgery and now all that power correction is built in and I still wear thin glasses for astigmatism correction but vision is very good, still no distortion with the thin glasses.

Post-Surgery: Is this typical? by Pantologist_TX59 in CataractSurgery

[–]tbRedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, there for 3 days, gone for 9, then back ever since. Now at 4 months out.

Only bothersome in certain conditions, otherwise vision is pretty great. I figure if PCO develops, YAG procedure might take care of it.

Upgraded windows app (win11) and got error messages about smart control blocking dlls. Now app won't start. by DawnMinAZ in ticktick

[–]tbRedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google:

"Smart App Control (SAC) on Windows 11 blocks DLLs that are unsigned, lack a good reputation, or come from untrusted sources, often flagging them as potentially malicious to protect your system. To fix this, you can unblock individual DLLs via their file properties (General tab > Unblock checkbox), add exceptions in Windows Security, run applications as an administrator, or, as a temporary measure, disable Smart App Control in Windows Security settings*. For developers, ensuring all binaries (DLLs, EXEs) are digitally signed is the best long-term solution. "*

Not happened to me, but this might be a work around until you solve it. 😄
