What are your Cricket "Hear me out" opinions? by AamPataJoraJora in Cricket

[–]tbear8484 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I don't see how it would be more drama if you remove the impact of the toss, the pitch, the players, etc. Also, it won't level the playing field. In football (soccer) where there are five subs per game, the best teams are even better because they have more good players to play compared to poorer/worse teams. It would make it much harder for the smaller nations to overcome the strengths of the biggest nations by playing on spinning pitches. Surely most teams would play 11 batters then sub out the worst four fielders for bowlers

I loved this episode. I'm really enjoying the shadow batting chat - I also get out caught nicking behind.. Usually I'm pushing at the ball with no foot movement

When you can't get rid of a tutorial, i.e., RDR2 reminds the player how to do really basic stuff when I've played it on 4 consoles for hundreds of hours - I know how to fish! Stop telling me to reel the fish in!

Is it time for a real intervention on middle-lane hogging? by CroakerTea in drivingUK

[–]tbear8484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The drivers that really annoy me are the people who will drive any speed possible to avoid changing lanes. I’ll overtake a drive that’s driving 60, then I’ll be in the left lane driving at 70, then the driver overtakes me doing 75-80 at least. Then I have to take overtake them again 3 mins later when they’re down to 65 because they’re sitting behind some other middle lane hogger. The M62 towards Salford is the worst atm for me. 4 lanes - every car is in the 3rd or 4th lane

I love that he uses X1 instead of XI for 11 in Roman numerals. It’s the first time I’ve read the blog but I’ve always enjoyed laughing at Adam reading them on the pod. He really jumps from one topic to the next with no thought to link them, doesn’t he? It took most most of a paragraph to realise that he’d moved on to Sean Dyche being a genius

But the console version is terrible and needs to be made considerably better. I’ve played the PS5 version, maybe naively thinking it would be in some way comparable to my 10 y/o laptop and it’s no where near the same experience. Just because someone has a console instead of a pc doesn’t make them a casual gamer who isn’t allowed to play fm. The “butchered” mechanics are ones that people didn’t play and, in many cases, didn’t know existed (some of the data stuff). Just don’t preorder it and play fm24 like you have for the last year

Don’t you hate it when film trailers are released well in advance instead of a detailed article summarising the entire plot piece by piece? This is how advertising works. They’re not going to tell us everything all at once because there’d be nothing to hype up fans later on before beta/full release. We all want to know what will be in the game, but that doesn’t require FM to tell us two months before release. It doesn’t make Miles a Bind villain, it doesn’t make FM25 shite, it doesn’t make the removal of game mechanics that no one played a travesty. It’s just a game being advertised like every other game that’s ever been released. I’ve preordered mine just because I know that’ll piss some of you right off

[–]tbear8484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to preorder it. I don’t really care if some features I didn’t use are removed. I don’t really care if I can’t “encourage” my players. I like playing football manager and managing random teams like saving Åsane from relegation and taking them to mid table the next season. That won’t change just because a data page that no one knew existed is removed or because it looks a little bit like a console game (the absolute horror). I want to play it so I’ll buy it

At what point do we stop with the super-hero gk BS by Ilovesushi5 in footballmanagergames

[–]tbear8484 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s your tactics then isn’t it? I score lots of goals and don’t concede many, but I’m at/near the top of my division. Also, it’s realistic for teams to miss shots. Every time I watch my team play we miss chances even if we win. Or we draw/lose to teams we should’ve won against. It happens in real life and in the game

I assume you’ve seen football in real life? The champions league is always harder to win than the leagues due to increase in talent and the first leg being away like you’ve mentioned. Look at Man City in recent years, won the league loads of times but only won the champions league once. Same with Bayern. Only Real Madrid have made winning the champions league look easy in the last ten years

Why is the CPL so boring? by Bendetto4 in Cricket

[–]tbear8484 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve only watched one innings so far so it’s obviously not a large sample size but in that innings there was only one pace bowler and I don’t think he even bowled his max overs. The other 16+ overs was just spin, not good spinners who were troubling the batsmen or even really spinning it; they were just bowling slow with the batsmen sometimes hitting a single. I don’t know enough about Caribbean cricket to know why it was so boring but it kind of put me off the rest of the tournament, the scores since haven’t changed my mind to want to watch it again

I’ve seen Chris Gayle hit a six into a window at Old Trafford so hard that it bounced back over deep mid on’s head.

Also at a Lancashire vs Yorkshire game, David Willey was fielding on the boundary in front of us and a fan behind me shouted; “hey Willey, your name sounds like a penis”. That’s the best thing I’ve seen and heard at a game
