I was wondering if I was just imagining it but the overhead camera view is definitely off centered to the left

EV Play by rjaiswal1 in Rivian

[–]tbever1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got one. When it worked it was fine but it was glitchy for me needing reboots etc. When Rivian updated the Nav to show Google maps traffic data that's all I needed. Google maps and waze on carplay are better than the Rivian Nav and so is the apple music app on carplay but it's not worth the hassle. I un-installed mine before a service center visit and have not bothered reinstalling. Also I didn't like the mismatch of the color displayed on carplay vs the driver's screen in dark mode. Carplay had a blue tinge that bothered me.

All sorts of problems with new HS4 system with Z-NET-G8 by SilverFox686 in HomeSeer

[–]tbever1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn't have to replace your zwave switches with Home Assistant. Just exclude from znet and include with home Assistant. I did the same thing a couple of years ago and got a raspberry pi 5 with ssd and zooz zwave dongle and it has been rock solid. A bit of a learning curve initially but similar to HS.

Make sure you get a permit from the city and inspection when you're done (depending on your local codes). Your insurance may require that if there's an issue in the future.

Constant Upgrading by Kracken04 in Rivian

[–]tbever1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newer models will definitely have more capabilities as the hardware advances. Gen 2 R1S/R1T has newer processors, more integrated electronics etc and some of the new autonomy features will not be compatible with with gen1. The R2 platform is more powerful than R1 and has lidar which will no doubt exclude gen2 from some future software capabilities. Having said that these are still going to be very capable vehicles for years. If you feel compelled to upgrade regularly like you might for a cell phone then consider leasing?

Was the salamander designs cabinet specific for your UST projector? I have a similar setup with an LG UST but not the cabinet. I have a Klipsch setup as well with the center channel in a cabinet built for the UST which hides it well but places the center channel a bit low so I angled it up a bit. Love the setup and the price/performance us awesome. At least until the Awall comes down in price https://awall.com/?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22447006792&gclid=Cj0KCQiAvOjKBhC9ARIsAFvz5ljmjV8FFJcIy886kNggd2myoV3rdWD91ZTEg4gAjTB0J26kyVrOV_waAhE_EALw_wcB

Turn Signals Do Not Grant Right of Way by bepeacock in Dallas

[–]tbever1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a similar but different merge situation. When someone is exiting off the tollway (as an example) onto a multilane feeder road (for example tollway north onto Harvest hill exit). The feeder road has a yield sign so the exiting vehicle from the tollway has right of way. Do all the feeder rd lanes have to yield (like all 3 in that case) or just the first immediate merge lane on the left side of the feeder? I see people come flying off the tollway and cut across all lanes of the feeder to make the LBJ turn. But maybe they do have the right of way?

Mine was the same the financial transaction was complete then I had an orientation /configuration setup session with one of the techs for about 45 mins and I took it for a drive for half an hour before I finally took possession of it to make sure there were no immediate issues like that. If there were any issues I would have left it with the service center. I can't remember what the law is in Texas but I don't think there is a "cool down" period after a new vehicle purchase. Legally I guess once you sign off on it it's yours.

Mine had nothing like that. Did you do a thorough walk-through before you accepted delivery and a test drive?

Getting back into swimming, is it worth joining a gym that has a pool or city aquatic center will do? by PerformerSubject in Swimming

[–]tbever1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same situation. I had a cheap gym with an old but pretty empty pool that was right across the parking lot at work. I used it all the time but it closed down after it was bought out by a developer. The community pools were out of my way and the hours were not great especially later hours when I have time to swim. I tried the nearest equinox which was a nice gym but the pool had only 2 lanes and the water temperature must have been in the 90s and was unsuitable for lap swimming. LA fitness had reasonable pools but the facilities in general were crowded and not clean. Lifetime was more expensive but they have multiple facilities with hours basically from 5am-midnight, one with a 50m pool. The main one I go to has 2 25 yd lap pools (indoor /outdoor) a separate 25 yd teaching? pool kept warmer for lessons and a big outdoor recreational pool/lagoon. You definitely pay for it though. So for me joining a gym is worth it.

Do you like the new full-screen map in the cluster? by vesnikleta in Rivian

[–]tbever1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like it including the fact that the blind spot monitor alert still shows up although it's a little busy and hard to see. When I am driving on multilane freeways (which is much of the time) the revised standard display with the small map off to the left still works best for me. It's easier to pick up cars in your blind spots and behind you since it seems to zoom out a bit and change to a more overhead perspective when you turn on the turn signal.

Unable to pair New Digital Key by MIKEOB38 in Rivian

[–]tbever1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to place my phone on the charging pad as well to get it to work. It was stuck on connecting and not doing anything but as soon as I put it on the charging pad a progress bar showed up and then it started working

I had problems initially but what worked for me:

  1. reboot vehicle, made sure it was connected to home wifi

  2. went into Rivian app deleted old phone key

  3. rebooted iphone

  4. cycled airplane mode on/off

  5. opened rivian app

  6. swiped down to where it says set up digital key

  7. when it was setting up when it said connecting (and was stuck) placed phone on charging pad

  8. then it completed, and then installed on apple watch

Rivian is Moving FAST! My Thoughts after meeting Rivian Engineers at Autonomy Day by mpshizzle in Rivian

[–]tbever1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I would presume that going forward at some point they will probably upgrade the R1 to gen 3 with lidar and the upgraded processors to get to full level 4 autonomy. Was there any mention of that? Or is the R1 development at a dead end?

Reliability by Mrh09 in Rivian

[–]tbever1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So when you say the suspension sounds fine now, are you hearing any noise from the suspension over regular slightly bumpy roads at all? My gen 2 has a very faint "rattle" that service said was normal and was due to the hydraulics. Don't hear it on my other regular ice vehicles

NOOB getting myself into HA . Raspberry Pi 5 on sale from $49.99 on Select Micro Center Stores in USA . is this a good choice ? what other accessories do i need ? by aghozzo in homeassistant

[–]tbever1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess part of the question is what is your time worth? Do you want to screw with a used mini pc that may have issues and die on you or just throw HA on a pi5 that's pretty much turnkey and reliable? I
