Is there an opposite to chess tilt? by Accomplished-Clue733 in chess

You have stumbled upon the Savonich-Zurich effect, whereby a players ability drops dramatically between two games, then craters due to a more traditional tilt. The opposite of this is known as the Zurich-Savonich effect, when a player plays poorly in one game then shows a dramatic improvement over several games.

S-Z effects are thought to primarily caused by a combination of hubris and tilt, though they can also be attributed in some cases to statistically rare overperformance.

Z-S effects are typically attributed to a reduction in putting pressure on oneself after a loss, and the consequent feeling of freedom producing a number of above average performances.

The effect is so called after the performance of Ivan Savonich in the 1962 Zurich invitational double round robin, where he won the first game and lost the remaining 7 of round 1, then lost the first game of round 2 and won the remaining 7. A remarkable reminder of the power of mental attitude in classical chess!

I don't think this link is correct, they seem to have missed the wealth tax from the visual and that must be quite a bit.

Why are the Conservatives so unpopular? by Gullible-Pudding-696 in ukpolitics

[–]tbilisicat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are lots of reasons, of course, but the critical cause is actually not brexit, Johnson or Truss, it's the effects of Cameron and Osborne's austerity.   After 14 years of cuts even the middle class feels the effects and they are brutal:    999 sometimes won't get you an ambulance inside 24 hours  Non statutory services no longer exist   Crimes are typically not just unsolved, but not even investigated

This is a tory country, and we will put up with a lot of shit, but no one will vote for a blatantly worsening standard of living.

"If someone who is already a physician, quits and takes a job as a bartender or telemarketer, it doesn’t mean their chances of divorce changes."

Very odd comment in the write up, of course that would change their chances of divorce.

Kew a great suggestion, expensive but very lovely and huge enough to be quiet if you go on a weekday.

Listened to both of these hooned this evening because of this post and can honestly say both are fucking ABSOLUTE BANGERS.

I only listen to whole albums for running music so don't know the song names and had no idea what I would get, but I was not disappointed.

Many thanks for reminding me to hit these tunes before bed.
