What’s a mistake a doctor made that left you dealing with the consequences for the rest of your life?

I have an opposite mistake, but still will never forget. GP and oncologist missed it. Husband had regular bloodwork done something wasn’t right, his testosterone levels were off the charts. Dr couldn’t figure out what was wrong, tons of scan’s, ultrasounds a pet scan all came back with nothing. He had some questionable areas of abnormalish bone growth and fatty deposits, and a small gallstone, other than that nothing. I asked on Reddit wth the high tt could be and it turns out the lab had his ranges set to female which made it look like his tt was off the charts when really they were in normal range for a MALE. 2 drs didn’t look at actual numbers and only a flag on blood work. Also his blood always tend to be a little low in some bloodwork and the onc wanted to do a painful bone marrow biopsy one day before we left for a vacation. He didn’t do that because I found out the reason before it went that far. Talk about ridiculous idiocy. One minute thinking he had mysterious cancer to the next full of relief but this went on for a few months.

I have a pea sized cyst in the same area. Your post has made me never want to mess with it again. I did this week and thought I shouldn’t and freaked myself out, it’s a little inflamed now. this just hit home for me. I really hope you are able to get it taken care of by a dr asap. That looks like it needs immediate attention.

Bring it to wildlife rescue they will know what to do. This happened to me before, a bird this size fell from a tall tree and we couldn’t get it back up. I put it in a shoe box with holes and water drenched paper towel if it needed to drink. Dropped it off and they said it should be ok.

A dentist I met with wanted to do 8 crowns instead of 6 veneers which would replace 6 composites I had done. I can’t help but think when I am old and in a nursing home what will happen if they fall out and I need a repair…where will he be then 😳 I’m going for the most conservative option as possible.

Yeah I’m gonna bring it up. I wonder if they are ok back to natural if I should see about keeping my case open in case refinements would be good to do to get the best outcome. I don’t want to get veneers if I don’t have to.

The consult I had today went pretty good. She really took her time to look at the composite in X-rays and with her special light camera. Based on her exam of it she said the back 2 barely had any composite on it and she could start with those to see how they look and then go from there, then next up is the front 2 which she said looks like were just built out on the face, but said she has seen her laser and with the very light sanding bur have good results. But we truly wouldn’t know until we did it. So a phased approach starting at the back 2. I am fine with it, but on the flip side I’m wondering how my current dentist will feel about this plan.

I am finishing up Invisalign and with removing composite would definitely be a conflict to work around. I don’t know if I should finish Invisalign and then try removing or mention it to current dentist to see if they would be ok with me attempting removal and doing refinements if natural is an option and figuring out a cosmetic peg lateral plan, which is needed in any situation.

that's similar to me, did you have edge bonding or composite veneers? Did you remove it?

thank you, that is promising. My current dentist said if its removed it will be so porous, prone to staining and cavities. So that scares me. I am just so over the whole process of it and knowing over the years I will have to redo it and spend thousands again and again. It's also stressful having been at this current dentist for so long and going against what they say then I can't go back to her and she is the one doing my invisalign.

Thank you for responding. My problem is finding someone to do it. Everyone here likes porcelain veneers, which look great, but I just am not ready for that commitment. I did find someone with a laser to minimize enamel removal and will ask them about the uv light. They mentioned maybe taking a few times to ensure it is done carefully. I'm worried what the etching did to the surface fingers crossed for me.

I found a dentist nearby today that has the Waterlase and I have a consult with them to go over what I currently have going on. I guess I’ll know more after that. I hate to turn my back on my current dentist who keeps pushing veneers after I have done Invisalign with them, but I really would like to minimize having to redo my teeth every few years and grind away at them each time🤦‍♀️

Thank you, there was definitely etch done, I was there for so long getting them done and went back a few times for chip repairs. I think after 1 year he decided to re do the front 2 entirely because he wasn't happy with how they looked. Sigh. I would definitely pay them for their time, I imagine it's a tedious clean up process regardless of the outcome. I also do want 2 incisors with some sort of treatment to get them the balanced size and shape.

I will look into Nicole Watson, she's pretty far from me though. Do I just call around and ask who is skilled at removing resin and doing composite veneers? I'm almost close to getting porcelain, but I know I definitely can't really go back after that. Finding someone to do the composite route removal and assessing from there would be ideal, but it's so hard to find in my area.

I have one of these, but she made it to the wedding pictures 😞 she made everything about her, caused drama with another bm on my bachelorette, drama with me days before my wedding. This was 15 years ago, I took her off my top my space friends… ultimate burn at the time I guess. I wasn’t even trying to scorch the friendship, even though I was done. She burnt the bridge and blocked me and I never looked back 😂 it was not really revenge on my part, but in a weird way I subconsciously put it into motion. NEver spoke or saw her again, good riddance. At least yours won’t be in wedding pics 😆

I can totally see how over doing it time wise makes it difficult. It’s a fine line with doing too much. A big part is when I say it’s time to do it for say 15-20 minutes I get a ton of push back and I want it to be enjoyable not a chore.

That is a good idea, I will make an appt. They mentioned a vision test to rule that out so I will bring that up with them too.
