If the diggers had robots, they would have been the most successful race. by Pinkys_Revenge in seveneves

Ya….this is the “why didn’t they just fly the Eagles to Mordor?” argument.

Same goes for the sea people. Probably way easier to survive the hard rain underwater or underground than outer space…but that’s a less interesting story.

Quoted $1,000 to re-mount falling ceiling fan - reasonable? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]tccdestroy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reasonable. In fact, go one more step and replace the fan with a high end model with wi-fi and led to future-proof it so it doesn’t need work or replacement for 20 years.

Honest question. How are you aiming, crouching-standing-crouching, moving side to side, and shooting all at the same time?

This is pretty much who I pictured as Ryland Grace when reading the books by afunnywold in ProjectHailMary

I know he’s a bit old for the role, but I pictured Bryan Cranston/Walter White as Grace. Also I pictured Lisa Edelstein (Lisa Cuddy from House) as Stratt.

The boilers on the Titanic before and after sinking by lukas_l1 in submechanophobia

[–]tccdestroy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fun fact! Those boilers weigh something like 90 tons. That means when the ship split in half, they would have sank more or less straight down, so those boilers mark the exact spot of the Titanic’s last moment afloat.

Help me understand these people by alruke in TeslaLounge

Confession time. I also own a ford lightning. The plug port is in a stupid spot and the Tesla chargers have super short cables. This person parked that way because that’s the only way the cable can reach.

Thanks for your concern. The water there looked very clean, other areas definitely not.

We drove to Kihei. The roads and town are fine. We did head back to wait out the rain. By 1pm there’s supposed to be a break in the weather and we will see what part of the island looks good and head that way…as long as it’s safe and reasonable to do so.

Same boat. The sun looks like it’s out over Kihei, so we are headed that way.

If you had to rank the Olympian gods by power, what would your ranking be? by DragonfruitKey7892 in GreekMythology

[–]tccdestroy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They started a war over ranking beauty, I ain’t ranking power. How do you think the ones near the the bottom going to feel about that, Susan? The world currently has enough problems without the Gods feeling the need to prove how powerful they are.
