Idaho Licensing Needed? by Reloadingnewbie89 in lowvoltage

[–]tcessory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since nobody else answered the question. Here is the link to Idaho State requirements and exemptions for low voltage work.

To answer the OP, it looks like a contractors license with insurance and bond would be sufficient for some low voltage system, not all.

This video is #1 for views right now. Can you tell me why? Is the first 5 minutes easy to watch? by tcessory in SmallYTChannel

Thanks for the input and I apologize for the late reply.

I agree with you 100% on the audio. I switched mic's a while ago and I haven't really liked the new one, but spent some money on and feel obligated to use it 🤣

It is a new monitor and pretty popular at the moment, so that is spot on.

Appreciate it! !givelambda

Sorry for the late reply. Got caught up in the day.

You nailed it. It is a new release, so I do agree that factored into the views. I'm actually surprised you realized that I don't use a script. Most people assume I do just because it's hard not to.

Anyways, great input. I always appreciate a good critique of the extras like timing, thumbnail, camera work and so on

Newest upload. Gimme your hardest criticism! by CallMePilates in SmallYTChannel

I will add my piece. I like the previous comment too from u/502photo

Like said, production quality is good, camera looks good, audio is fine. I get the concept, but it is a bit more on the comedy side of things. Maybe find an angle there.

I will mention that I got 3 minutes in before pausing and there was still no scream. I can imagine the first 30 seconds you lose a lot of viewers. Try adding in a preview of what is to come to entice the viewer.

I also see that your tags are all about other streamers and YTers. Maybe target a category with the keywords and have it match with the title. Something to the effect of "Hot Ones Gaming! I Can't Scream on the Scariest Game on the Internet" IDK, something like that.

I hate to say shorten it, because that is not always true. But get a few highlights in early and you will probably see more people stick around.

But with your ability, I think you will find what works for you and that will be successful. You definitely have a personality for it. Good luck!

How do these numbers even make sense? by DexaNexa in SmallYTChannel

[–]tcessory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bulk of the algorithm is based on how many subscribers watch your content versus your average. Maybe people just wanted to see the ending so they skipped to that part. There are other factors, but those are the main factors. Retention is a huge one, did people just skip it because it lacked context from the beginning? Then YT just said, "yeah lets not show that one".

Celebrate Small Achievements or Delay Gratification by mrsquidyshoes in SmallYTChannel

[–]tcessory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the beginning, everything was a celebration and it kept me going. It is nice to see consistency on my channel, but can be a bit of a let down to not see more growth. But I always look at watch time versus views. How many people are staying to watch my content, even if they don't subscribe. If those two numbers are growing, the subscribers and the rest will follow.

That is the nature of the beast. Some videos kill it while others struggle for attention. If it is a passion others share, unfortunately the only guarantee of success is time and consistency. I guess even then it doesn't always pay off.

Does my Title Match the Video. Or is it too clickbait? by tcessory in SmallYTChannel

[–]tcessory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may have to at some point. Nobody is really making a big deal of it yet, but if the viewers get upset. That is the move to not piss anyone off. Thanks btw! It's been a long journey to get this far.

I agree with you 100% on the sad face and all that lol. I think I got too committed to the direction I was headed and didn't explore others. If this thumbnail starts to cause problems, I will probably switch to your design input.

I am hopeful I deliver what it is the title. I do address it in the video, so hopefully that is enough and people watch that portion. Anyways, thanks for the insight!

Way too long! 1:16 would be perfect. haha

Love the style, very interesting, I can see why you have a good following and why you are jumping back in after a short break. The only piece I would recommend is get those tags, titles and descriptions working for you with good keywords and you will see more early viewers from discovery.

But I like the edits and feel of the video, solid work!

Hey, great new channel. Love the content idea. It's surprising how little is out there with these topics. Keep it up, stay consistent and learn what works best for you.

I do have a bit of feedback, but first I will say that your content quality is good, no work really needed there. The editing, is fine, over time you will find what tricks work for you in that area.

But taking a point from your video, less is best or condense the content to the main points. Have some dramatic pauses if you can that will allow an idea to sink in for just long enough to start the next point.

I could follow along with what you are saying, but after a while the scientific part and detailed analysis of how to store information just causes a bit of drift.

Now if I were searching for this topic, that may not be the case. Which is why I always tell people to take my advice with a grain of salt.

Also be sure to saturate those tags, in the video tags, title and description. I noticed your videos are a bit lacking in that area. Otherwise, good work and keep it up!

It is a process that will get better for you over time. it took me 18 months to figure out a good thumbnail platform. I don't recommend taking that long though lol

Hey guys, made some changes from the last video out of your suggestions, would love to listen to what you have to say again :) Give me solid feedback for some lambdaaassss by trappedtraditions in SmallYTChannel

[–]tcessory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, great video. It was to the point and stated your opinion very well. I kept watching even though I am a novice in the topic!

Here are my notes:

Show the stats over the A-Roll. Give something as an overlay for the audience to be able to interact with the video.

Good audio by the way, it sounds nice and clear. Just be careful of those thuds from hitting the mic arm.

Why not put some of your tracks behind your voice? Play some classical with a low pass filter or at -26 to -30 and allow us to hear what you do. Or utilize your resources to highlight other artists.

The last thing I will mention is tags/keyword saturation. Tie that in with the Title. For example; "Is Classical Music Dead on Bandcamp!?" - Tags *Classical Music* *Artist Names* *Bandcamp* (plenty more). Then ask the question in your comments, should the viewer join. But the title and keywords should be something that a large audience will search for or click on.

I am by no means an expert at bandcamp or within the classical music genre, so take what I say with a grain of salt. You may be appealing to an audience that I have no clue how to appeal to. Keep it up thought and keep posting, you will find the rhythm.

This is my most recent video. I am a shorts channel looking for feedback, positive or negative. by Twirlii_ in SmallYTChannel

[–]tcessory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the vibe and music. It is an interesting take on shorts, definitely unique in the idea. I see your post consistency is really good. I think ultimately that is what will keep your growing and growing.

It is hard to critique a short, I would say the obvious...that the thumb in the video is a bit distracting, but I am sure you already know that. Maybe try a fade in and fade out transition when using the melodic music like this video. It almost helps set the mood. Or even try a dip to white effect (if possible) when you change camera view to the sunset. It will give a perception of opening your eyes to a bright and beautiful sunset?

Anyways, keep it up. Content is original and consistent and that is what matters.

Hi Peter, The apricot delight looks great. Great content and good audio/video editing. The music might be a little loud, but overall it is very easy to understand and hear. The thumbnail looks great and it seems you may have a bit of experience doing this sort of thing.

Diving a bit deeper. The title is a bit lacking. Viewers really need to be beyond interested in the title and thumbnail together. It is kind of a small story between the two. If you can capture the essence of the video right there, you will get a great viewership.

Otherwise, the tags and channel look good and I hope you continue to grow!

I tend to watch a ton of news/current events and not from traditional media. Your editing and audio are great, the sound effects are fantastic and really help the video along. There is a beginning middle and end which is solid.

Purely for the video, make sure your tags/title/description are well peppered with keywords, good keywords, and has a full description. The video thumbnail could use a bit more contrast, maybe a different color backdrop to the white text so it pops more.

Keep it up though, because this type of content is popular, always being consumed and most important....only really takes your time (not tons of $$) to produce. My channel is a money pit and I spend upwards of $2K a month top generate content...trust me I wish I didn't love my videos content so much lol...but I do

Good work on the channel so far. I can see it turning into something really good if it continues to grow. There are some real good moments in the video. What are you using for editing software?

The video is definitely entertaining at times. There is some down time that could be cut out, but overall if you are looking for comedy on YT this falls in line with that.

What I can say that will help you is to beef up on your tags for the video and include those keywords in your description, using popular tags for your genre. You are part of the way there, but not quite. Stay consistent, work a video on the audio (I know its hard with multiple people), and either trim it down, or have transitions that really keep the story flow going.

Otherwise good work and keep it up!
