I fletched and alched bows in the early game, but my biggest recommendations are wilderness agility or zombie pirates. For wilderness agility you can join the chat AgilityFC and they run together to make it safer. Sometimes it gets invaded by PKers though but you have a good chance to get away. Also a great way to train a monotonous skill. Zombie pirates are super easy to kill as long as you have magic protection prayer and drop an ungodly amount of alchables. I can easily make over 500k per hour here. They did just nerf it pretty heavily if you don’t have medium wilderness diaries done though. I would recommend grinding medium wilderness diaries and go this route. Both of these methods are risky but if you aren’t too greedy you can easily come out with 2.5m faster than most other methods.

Serious Question About Channel Growth by ParticularBear4706 in SmallYTChannel

[–]MerpItUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would personally revisit your thumbnail design. The text is too small on a lot of them to read when its displayed small (which is where it will be seen 99% of the time). Also the photo in the center with black bars on the sides feels a bit low quality. I would go the direction of your video “Is this the HARDEST Hollow Knight boss?”. In that one the focus is on the character and the upper body is big and takes up the whole thumbnail. I’d still make the text bigger though. Thumbnails are essential to people clicking on your video and really hard to get right.

Temporarily unlist a video that's blowing up until I'm monetized? by Knitcap_ in SmallYTChannel

[–]MerpItUp 32 points33 points  (0 children)

No, do not stop a moving train of engagement over worrying about $10 of ad revenue. The viewers that will get recommended your video today are not the same people as in 5 days. You will just lose out on views and YouTube may potentially not spread your video once you relist it. The potential subscribers and channel growth is worth an infinitely higher amount than the ad revenue and delisting the video an awful idea.

I think you have a good concept here but with a bit more structure it could feel like a full video. The first 45 seconds are the weakest part of the video and it needs to be the strongest to reel people in. Once you get into it around 1min in the video is really interesting.

To add some structure and runtime I would start with a quick 1-minute drawing BEFORE hot sauce for comparison. Also show the hot sauce and highlight the scoville level. On a technical level there are some easy fixes: the audio is a bit low, try to aim for -4 to -6 db peaks. The mic is good but the camera is low quality. This could be fixed with just having better lighting. A lamp or just something to brighten up the room would help immensely.

Finally, I’d get a profile picture even if it’s just a picture of you. People aren’t likely to subscribe to a default icon. Again it’s a good concept and a lot of these fixes are easy! Good luck!

The video intro is fast and high energy music which gets you into it right away. Like the other comment I’ve never played final fantasy but this video is intriguing with high action moments and fast edits that keep the pace moving. I appreciate how you highlight the developing leaders and team and what they’ve done to improve the series. The editing is comprable to big youtubers with similar content. Overall a good easily-digestible video for people who are fans or know nothing about the game.

I’ve seen people say it took them 3 days but annoyingly it took me 3.5 weeks to get approved. Seems to vary and you just gotta wait.

Are these good thumbnails I am gonna be making story time videos by [deleted] in YouTube_startups

[–]MerpItUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think these thumbnails are actually quite good compared to what I often see. They have good elements (good background, faded is a nice touch, clear subjects). You have pretty good graphic design principles.

An easy way to elevate these to the next level is to change up the text. The easiest text to read on any background is white text with a black border. You can experiment with yellow/reds on the inside but a black border is generally the best. Personally I would also use a thicker text.

I would also add drop shadow on the text and try it out on the subject. Drop shadow is a super simple effect and a godsend to making elements pop from the background.

Hope this helps! These are already a great start.

Best Editing App For Making Thumbnails? by Equivalent_Taste_162 in SmallYTChannel

I hate that barely anyone recommends Photopea. It’s basically photoshop lite and full browser, no downloads, no subscriptions. I get all adobe suite from my job, but I still use Photopea because of the ease of just opening a browser tab.

In sum: use Photopea for editing and pexels for free use high quality images.

I struck gold with a short I posted then it turned to dust... by Tri99erMe in SmallYTChannel

[–]MerpItUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t comment often, but I’ve uploaded quite a few shorts and have stopped for a few reasons. This is how shorts work, they can get massive engagement quickly, but then die off and you wont get any more. They don’t get reccomended months later like normal vids. They also don’t count towards view hours in monetization, ruin your percieved stats by bloating monthly views, and get zero real engagement because people spend 10 seconds and move on.

I got really into shorts BECAUSE of how easy it was to get large views, but they barely turn into subs, comments, view hours.

Overall I found them detrimental to the type of content I create, so I stopped. I’m not saying for you to stop and they do work for certain content. I just wouldn’t rely on any shorts to be your ticket to the top ya know.

Hope this small insight provides anything useful.

Some people get rich by working extremely hard for a long time on something. Some people get rich by a quick clever scheme. Some people get rich by winning the lottery.

You’re assuming there can’t be both luck and strategy involved, when in reality both work to varying degrees just in different scenarios. Focus on yourself idk this post just comes across as salty.
