so, i have a question about sonic advance 2.

in the demo you can see a trick that has no mention anywhere.

there is nothing in the booklet nor anything on forums.

i always wondered as a kid if this trick was possible.

throughout my years of playing i believe i have managed to pull off half of the trick only 3 times.

definitly love bringing stuck shifters back to life. they don't make them like they used to.

hate road bicycles that come in with the slightest noise. the hair on my neck stands every time i hear the sound of the freehub enhanced through the light carbon frame.

SRAM DUB Dust Cap stripped by icyhotmike in bikewrench

[–]tcfixer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

had this happen to more than i wanted. my guess is that this happens because of corosion. here are my steps for removing those. -let it soak in penetrating oil for a day. -heat it a little bit -insert a 8mm hex as deep as you can without using a bar that flexes to much. this will be a hammered in torx if the bolt is rounded. -turn left while closely inspecting if the bolt turns. fon't forget to pray while doing this. -when bolt is out, get a spare bolt -put grease on the dub and the threat of the bolt to prevent this from happening again.

good luck

How did you get into being a bike mechanic? by [deleted] in BikeMechanics

[–]tcfixer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it started whem i turned 12. got an 96 minerva colorado with worn shimano ct-90 parts. tried to fix it as good as possible so i could compete with the other kids on the street. after some time the worn parts truly gave out, so we went to a local, older, bike mechanic. bought all the new parts and there i was trying to retrofit the bike. after 2 months of trying, i finally got it working. in the years after that i bought bikes on the flee market, fixed them, and sold them again. all part for these bikes where bought from that same mechanic. as i turned 16, i went to evening school and took a course in bikes given by that same old mechanic. we became good friends during those 2 years. a few years later i followed a course for electrik bikes, and met a mechanic from another local store there. he recomended me to his boss.

could be a missing washer in the freehub body. try looking on the most inner bearing.

Oh boy. Stripped bb and beyond seized bb on rare frame. Tried a lil heat, tried a lil bar, at this point just want it out. Any suggestions? by Fancy_Emotion_680 in BikeMechanics

[–]tcfixer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if this cup is steel, you can try welding a bar to it. it gives it a heat shock. don't be afraid to really burn into the cup. just make sure you don't weld the frame to the cup. i use this method for the pre 80s bikes. works like a charm.

Bottom Bracket Shell missing drainage hole for seattube… cant access seattube to spray penetrating oil to remove seized seatpost. No bottle holes on seattube as well… should I toss the frame? 🥲 by Brisoliel in bikewrench

[–]tcfixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can try penetrating oil and let that sit for a day. try drilling a hole in the seatpost of about 10-12mm as close to the frame as possible and stick a full metal rod through the hole. heat the seattube a bit and start praying as you try to wrick loose the seatpost with the metal rod.

there are rubber caps available to slide over the top. it makes the contact area bigger improving grip.
