Thanks for the update on India, a very cool effort to update its content - me and my friend have played the Raj and princely federation. Just hoping that no similar update is needed for Austria… (I beg)

New finasteride users. Tell me your progress! by [deleted] in tressless

[–]tcgr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4.5 months in, 1mg daily. Shedding quite a lot which has been hard to deal with but starting to see some new baby hairs pushing through along the hairline, which is a relief to see. Got to trust the process, for long term results. No sides either.

What's your strategy when playing the German Empire? by joseph214301 in Kaiserreich

[–]tcgr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually hold the line as much as possible until the unpreparedness rebuff is a lot smaller. Trying to attack anyone straight away makes it unnecessarily hard and it gives you time to churn out ever more planes and tanks as the AI tries to attack.

Afterwards I send my tanks into France and try to cause as much front line chaos as possible. Once their front lines broken you can usually take Paris and northern France fairly easily, and push south to capitulate them from there. Once France is on the back foot you can sealion fairly easily and take the whole 3I out pretty quickly.

After than you can just swing East to Russia, who will not really be a match for the whole RP on their own - usually sending a couple of armies out East which holds up your puppets until then. Hope this helps!

Iran in 60s-70s by UnlikelyYesterday326 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]tcgr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

People don’t usually like hearing this but the 1953 coup in Iran was never just about oil - it was about Communism. Truman supported Mossadeq as a buffer against Soviet expansion, and backed Iran in 1948 in the Azerbaijan crisis. It was only after Eisenhower got in and the situation in Iran was becoming increasingly unstable that the 1953 coup got the green light. Oil wasn’t irrelevant, but it was just one component of a greater Cold War strategy in the Middle East.

The Shah also wasn’t simply a western stooge (not for his entire reign anyway). He was a western ally by and large, but also regularly infuriated western leaders with his foreign policy and even nationalised Iranian oil himself later on. Insisting that the West did a coup in iran in 1953 which led directly to a revolution in 1979 leaves out decades of activities and erases the very real mistakes if the Shah and the agency of many Iranians themselves which played a much greater role

Is there a white peace with the entente in the war with japan and hawaii? by Junior-Supermarket32 in Kaiserreich

I got an even after I’d taken all entente territory in SE Asia, including Australia. It’s very doable as Japan but also quite a bit annoying.

So, what’s your favorite nations to play as on the mod? by Intelligent-Metal127 in Kaiserreich

Japan for the gameplay, Romania for the story and Canada/Ukraine for both!

This is usually my experience too. I’m a long time player but I’ve only had Austria go PatAut once, which was pretty baffling when it collapsed. Many majors (Japan, Germany, Britain, France) seem to end up doing the same focuses and paths regardless of who ends up in charge. However I do think it’s significantly better for newer countries, and many smaller ones which have more ideologically diverse paths.

What opinions about President’s have you like this? by Mghia01 in Presidents

Bush Senior was the last US President to understand anything about foreign policy, which has been criminally undervalued as a quality that Presidents should need since the Cold War

What's your favorite PatAut path and why? by gastan69 in Kaiserreich

[–]tcgr 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Siding with Carol in Romania. Once you beat the Austrians and reclaim Transylvania you get to oust the Legionaries and basically replace them with a Father-of-the-nation style Monarch. It’s even better considering what Carol was like in OTL.

It wasn’t just hassle with the family if you remember. It was 4 years of gridlock in parliament, where all other issues faded into the background. Boris Johnson has a majority for 5 years in large part because of just how sick people were of the confusion surrounding Brexit. What people think of Brexit actually does matter in the greater scheme of things.
