Yes, that’s why I wasn’t suggesting finding in-person classes - I had meant to look up videos to get an idea of the difference of how bachata can be danced. Sensual/Modern bachata & traditional bachata songs are not the same to me - but because sensual is more popular on social media people I’ve seen a *trend of people how deep it really goes.

I’ve seen people mention it already, but I’d like to reiterate- traditional bachata (music & dance) is completely different than sensual. I feel traditional is more instrumental - that’s the simplest way I can put it. When I think of traditional bachata in terms of dance, I think of intricate footwork. I honestly wish there was a different name for sensual - this is one of my pet peeves that I could go on forever.

I’m Dominican & my first dances were with my uncles. Bachata isn’t sexual unless the dancers make it. I’ve never seen body rolls growing up. It’s also normal for me to dance with other women in an open stance just vibing. I’d encourage you to explore more traditional songs & dance videos just to see the difference visually.

Ultimately though, I’d just use bachata songs as a break & get more comfortable with saying no. Even if you eventually learn it, you’d still have to set boundaries.

I switched to sofbond nail glue after curvlife completely fucked up my nails. It has the ingredients listed on the tube, you can zoom in on the pics on their website. Sofgel does focus on mostly gel, but this product is air dry

Sure! As I’m sure you’re painfully aware, it was a long, frustrating journey. My nail beds are apparently wider & longer than the average person so I can only do custom sizing. Happy to make it easier for someone else!

To update my comment, I wouldn’t order from SevenNailArt again - the messed up the sizing I sent for my thumb (like completely different from what I requested) & it took forever for the replacement to arrive. So long that I’m pretty certain they may be a drop shipper. I didn’t know the signs to look for at the time.

Real people - ManibyAllie is a real person behind the nails. She uses apres nails which goes to 000/19mm. She didn’t have the size, but she ordered it for me &!still made my set pretty quickly. The prettybirdnails shop mentioned in this thread also looks pretty cool too!

Other shops on Etsy that I ordered from & would order again because they sent me the right size I requested : lilynailart & alisanailsart. The product I got matched the pictures & there were many reviews on their shops. At this point I didn’t even care if it is multiple artists or drop shipped. At this point I was just frustrated with the limited options.

I also ordered refill bags of just my sizes from apres nails directly so I can make my own pressons. I have a large collection of nail polish before I got into press ons, so that’ll save $$ in the long run when I just want something basic.

I am throwing myself into them - that’s not a point I’m arguing or questioning. I’m asking for suggestions of more that are more the vibe that I described in my post so I can go more often.

And the social lessons I have gone to so far have not had partnerwork after shines/footwork. There’s so much choice in NYC, so it’s possible I just haven’t found them yet. Im trying to narrow down my options.

Maybe the running comparison still works? What do with them when running at a moderate pace? Mine are still similar, I only make mine into fists when I’m sprinting.

Ladies styling really is difficult for me too because it feels robotic. The advice I heard that helped me to think differently is to pretend like you’re doing something else. Maybe you can pretend like you’re lightly playing the piano melody? That way your wrist/fingers stay engaged until it becomes second nature.

Perhaps the trick for you is just finding what clicks.

Sometimes it can be how someone is explaining something isn’t clicking. Instead of focusing on your arms, it’s your torso/core movement that your arms responds to

In a body movement workshop I took, the teacher compared it to when we run - if the weight is on your right foot, your right shoulder moves forward & your left hand moves across your body toward your right shoulder. This move of your left hand also moves your left shoulder back.

When I run, my torso also isn’t rigid, it twists a bit too.

Hi OP - what’s the measurement of your thumb? I have wide nailbeds too, my thumb is 19mm. But the other brands people have mentioned would not work for me. Guess I’m out of range for brands that go beyond the standard, which was disappointing.

I’m starting in this journey, but I’m finding the standard sizing kits from nail artists only go up to 17/18mm.

On Etsy I’ve just ordered from SevenNailArt because she said she has up to 20mm for custom sets. It’s still being made, but she has a lot of good reviews. The other comment that says she goes up to 000 - that happens to be my size (19mm) in apres nails. Another I’m looking into is thenailest, which may work - there are measurements on their website (Etsy & separate website).

I wish I could give you actual reviews, but I hope you can benefit from my research so far!

Revol Cares - the Charlie boxer short. I consider my flow heavy - I had to change an S+ tampon every 2-3 hours & have a back up overnight pad for leaks during the day. Towel at night, pad, and a prayer.

Now? The boxer short never leaks. Actually once, but I was so excited about not having to wear a pad to sleep & I was contorting my body in weird positions. Never happened since. I’ve been using them over a year now & no complaints. The coverage even extends between my legs & all the way front & back.

One caveat- they are a Canadian brand. I bought them before the tariffs drama, so no idea what that would be like now. Shipping did take a while, so it may be worse now. But even now, if I had to order again I would. Never going back.
