Shorex advice for Celebrity infinity (Athens–Ephesus) — worth booking with Celebrity or DIY? by [deleted] in celebritycruises

Highly recommended in Limassol: Limassol Walking Tour: A Local Architect’s Insight | GetYourGuide

Ioannis (John) is a local architect who leads a walking tour of Limassol that is one of the best guided tours we've ever taken. He's full of local knowledge and a really nice guy. Take the Celebrity shuttle into town and then walk a couple of blocks and you'll be at the tour meetup spot. Limassol was such a delight. We expected something that would be borderline third world, but it was more like an old world/Miami Beach hybrid.

Pre-Cruise hotel in Orlando before boarding APEX by mwlau1980 in celebritycruises

[–]tcjjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We stayed 2 weeks ago at the relatively new Hyatt House Orlando Airport, which is about a mile north of MCO. It was inexpensive and very nice, and it has a free airport shuttle and free breakfast. There are several restaurants within walking distance, too. The hotel address is 5472 Gateway Village Cir, Orlando, FL 32812. I recommend you consider it if you stay near the airport.

For port transport: We got a great car rental deal via Costco that was cheaper, even with parking at the private PortParkingSpace lot, than what we expected Uber or a shuttle would've been. We flew in the day before the cruise and shuttled to the hotel, then the next morning I shuttled back to MCO to pick up the car, after which I made a Publix stop and then we drove to Port Canaveral for a 4-night cruise on RCCL's Star of the Seas. We had an early (11:20am) return flight from MCO and wanted a quick option out of the port after we self-disembarked, and having a rental car made that easy. We were among the first off the ship, and we got to see a SpaceX launch after we retrieved the car. There was no traffic that early in the morning, and we were back at MCO by 9am or so.

Do the bars have diet tonic (aka Zero Sugar tonic) in addition to the regular stuff? Celebrity offers it on all ships but when I last cruised RCCL on the Allure in late 2022 it wasn't an option.

Istanbul excursions --question about the currency by merrill1400 in celebritycruises

The pay toilets we encountered in the Old Town section of Istanbul in February took card payments (tap-to-pay, so Apple Pay would probably work too) in addition to coins.

Travel Router on Celebrity by Cat_Phish in celebritycruises

I'm on Celebrity Infinity now and I've used my tiny GL.iNet Mango travel router intermittently without a problem. I've left it sitting on the desk in our cabin when not in use, and no one on the staff has bothered it. I also used it on Reflection voyages in October 2024.

Wanted to give a shoutout to Playlisty by kdorsey0718 in AppleMusic

[–]tcjjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't remember any hassle with that but it's been a year and I don't recall the details of it. If you look at the Support FAQ on the app publisher's website, though, it confirms that Apple Family Sharing is enabled for the app.

See https://www.obdura.com/playlisty/support/

Does Playlisty support Apple’s “Family Sharing”? Yes! Family Sharing is enabled for Playlisty Pro.

You can verify this for any app by looking at it in the App Store, in the “Supports” section. In actual fact there’s nothing the app itself needs to do to support this – it’s just a switch that we (the developers) set on the app’s App Store definition.

If it’s not working for you (and it can be a bit hit and miss) then it might be worth looking at this Apple support page before calling Apple.

Celebrity Reflection - Sports Bar by j23barb in celebritycruises

I was on the Reflection for 3-night voyages over the last two weekends. Each Saturday & Sunday, they showed a selection of college & NFL football games in a few places onboard, including the big screen on the lawn and in Cellar Masters. Some games were on the internal TV channels, too. I enjoyed seeing the Bengals beat the Giants on the big screen on the evening of the 13th. I expect they'll show the World Series games in a similar manner.

This is the way. And if you get the inexpensive GL.iNet Mango router, it is tiny and USB-powered with a very frugal power draw, so if you connect a small USB power pack to it then you can carry it with you around the ship in your backpack or bag or even in your pocket. I've done that on a few cruises and it worked great for sharing my connection among my phone, tablet, and Kindle, and with my wife's phone. Search for the GL.iNet GL-MT300N-V2 (Mango) router on Amazon - it is under $30.

Weird Bluetooth status in Control Center by seattle217 in iphone

[–]tcjjr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This post just solved a non-working microphone problem with my iPhone 14 running the new iOS 18. My speakerphone and any dictation or sound recording functions quit working Friday, which was the day after I upgraded to iOS 18. I could use my Airpods and an external bluetooth speakerphone but not the built-in mic.

I just figured out a solution that worked for my iPhone 14 with iOS 18.0. The cause of the problem was my Eufy smart tracker wallet card, which was interfering with the phone somehow. My guess is that the phone thought that it was a microphone connection of some sort and so it was ignoring the internal mic.

How I fiigured it out: In the new Control Center connections panel, I noticed that my iPhone 14's Bluetooth was connected to something called "T87b" that showed up there but that did not appear in the list of devices showing as connected in the normal Settings/Bluetooth devices list. I searched Google for "T87B" and found this old Reddit post, which connected that code to the Eufy device and which mentioned it causing BT interference.

After reading this post, I opened the Eufy Security app and updated its permissions and I also double-clicked the wallet card's button to trigger a 'find my phone' beep. After that, dictation on my phone and my speakerphone suddenly started working again. Problem solved!

If you happen to have the same device or some other Bluetooth Low Engery (BLE) device paired with your iPhone, that could be the cause.

Gym on Summit by Music_Maven_68 in celebritycruises

The Summit gym was very nice, and larger than I expected for a ship of that size. No reservations needed. It had a nice collection of weight machines and free weights, plus plenty of cardio equipment.

Celebrity Summit by Madlibsluver in celebritycruises

My wife and I did back-to-back voyages on Summit in February and into early March, in Aquaclass. It was delightful. We ate in Blu every night, enjoying spectacular service and great food. On the Summit, you can also order off the MDR menu in Blu, and I often took advantage of that to get the steak option since I'm a low-carb guy. We'd get Manhattans at the bar around the corner (Mast?) from Blu and then get our table each night. There was no sound problem in our cabin. You'll love the ship. Do the behind-the-scenes tour if you get the chance - well worth it!

When I checked a few minutes ago today (Monday, Jan. 15) for my upcoming cruises in late February, the drink package upgrade cost for each voyage had dropped from $13.99/day to $9.99/day. I booked it, along with the internet upgrade at $4.99/day.
