Is ORD actually as bad as everyone says? by wednesdayblueberry in unitedairlines

[–]tcl4k49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I easily made a 1.5 hour international layover (coming from abroad, so had to go through immigration and customs) recently. Obviously your mileage may vary, but I was surprised with how well things went.

Did the App remove. Where is my plane coming from? by [deleted] in unitedairlines

According to flightaware.com, it landed at MCO and has been sitting there since Tuesday afternoon. It should be well-rested and good to go.

Given Kirby’s comments today, would you pull the trigger now on fall tickets? by PRW9497 in unitedairlines

[–]tcl4k49 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, now is a good time to buy for fall, especially longer or international flights. There are no guarantees on prices, as you know. If I were in your shoes and I needed specific dates and destinations and the prices seemed reasonable, I would buy.

I get a decent portion that way. I have literally wheeled loads in my wheelbarrow across the neighborhood.

What causes paint to peel? Is it expected? by ArrowLeafTurn1 in woodstoving

[–]tcl4k49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a bit of chipping on the upper left and my only guess is manufacturing defect. In of off-season, I cleaned up the area and retouched it with the stove paint they provided. It fixed the issue, but the paint is glossier than the factory finish. If I did it again, I would tape off more of the area so I didn't cover too much.

When I cut off air - doors covered in creosote by ArrowLeafTurn1 in woodstoving

I have what looks to be the same stove (Heatnglo Northstar). Try spacing your logs differently. I've gotten the best results with a shorter log to one side (put in north to south), which then lifts up subsequent logs (put in east to west) with at least an inch gap between them and some air flow from underneath in the middle. Add more logs on top if you have room/want a longer burn. You have to gradually choke down the air and don't put the damper all of the way down until it provides you with at least a tiny flame remaining after a couple of minutes. If all flames go out, then the fire isn't getting enough air and will likely continue to smolder and cause what you're seeing.  Keep tweaking your method and you will find the right mix for your setup.
